135 Monsterphilia VIII

Opponents glared at each other from across the arena and Allen seemed to have dropped his smirk and exchanged it for complete aggression.

He glared at Ash and Luna from the other side of the arena while the two monster girls were also threateningly showing their fangs, letting even the audience known that there was something different about that particular match in comparison with the other exhibitions.

The signal was given and it was on.

Allen immediately began to close the distance with blinding speed, Luna was slower but still quite fast and she dashed away with Lunar Burst boosting her speed enough for her to do so.

This made Allen zero in on Ash who immediately launched a wide area burning ash spray which he had no chance of dodging considering the speed of his charge . . . Or so she thought.

In a show of physics defying agility, Allen skirted around the fiery attack and closed the remaining gap in an instant as he moved to strike.

Using that small window of time however, Ash turned into a cloud of burning ash and flew upwards, floating above the area and safely out of range of Allen's melee.

He still had his magic but he didn't want to use quite yet and so the black cat quickly changed his target to Luna who had no interest in fighting head , dashing around to avoid him.

Still, Allen was faster so he was catching up . . . Or he would be if Ash was not raising down fiery death from above, forcing him to move around a lot more and thus making him unable to close the distance to strike at the fleeing Luna.

To the audience, it looked more like a game of tag with environmental hazards than an actual battle but Jun was quite satisfied since his two monster girls managed to create a deadlock with an opponent that was supposedly more powerful than themselves.

Seeing this battle and knowing it would not end well, Nox was already making plans for the possible reactions that the Freya Familia would have in regards to him teaching Allen a lesson.

Nox felt there was no physical danger for himself as he could literally take the entire Freya Familia by himself should he use his Trinity Aspect, his support had also resulted in the girls reaching higher levels faster and, if push came to shove, he had a way to make them much stronger in the short run if required.

After all, up until now, he always had them max out their basic abilities before Leveling up with only their Skills which improved the effectiveness of specific basic abilities determining their fighting style.

Lately however, some of the girls, while recognising that Nox's way did indeed make them more power, also confessed to him that most of those stats were useless to them as they barely made use of things like strength if they were magic casters.

This made them propose an idea to lower some of their more important stats to boost their level faster but Nox had a feeling that his way would bring about benefits in the future that even he did not fully understand at the moment so put the matter aside.

Then again, the girls were right and it was not like he could redistribute them later to attain the perfect board once again and since there was a chance for conflict with Orario's strongest familia, he was considering their proposal more seriously as it would give them more power to protect themselves.

As he was thinking this however, the deadlock Ash and Luna created was suddenly broken by a very irritated Allen Fromel who had decided enough was enough.

In an instant and without giving anyone time to react, he fired his magic, his fastest and most devastating attack at the sky where Ash floated.

In her Burning Ash form, she was highly resistant to damage but Allen's attack was overwhelmingly powerful for her which resulted in a cry of immense pain as a smouldering husk dropped from the sky in a near death state.

Nox then immediately retrieved Ash with such speed that no one even saw him getting into the arena as Allen, the only one fast enough to notice having turned his attention to Luna.

He swiftly took out yet another vial of Panacea to heal Ash while telling the ganesha familia officiator of the matches to call for the battle's end immediately.

The officiator immediately announced the end of the match due to Ash's injuries as Nox breathed a sigh of relief as his cute hellhound was healed to full health. After all, even if he knew he could save someone from death, it was still quite chilling to watch them die or even just get seriously injured.

Just as he was getting up to go have a "discussion" with Allen for his heavy handed methods in a match against opponents weaker than him however, Nox hear Luna's desolate cry.

The officiator announce the match's end but Allen, who was on the verge of striking Luna who froze due to her partner's sudden fall, did not stop his attack and thrust his silver spear into the frozen Luna's chest, holding her aloft as an added humiliation.

Nox himself froze for a single second at the grating sigh and even many in the audience were recoiling at the show of cruelty despite some cheering for it.

Before that sight, Nox felt rage and hatred he had never before experienced bubbling up and bursting forth in an unending torrent.

He craved violence . . . And he would get it . . .
