Chapter 09: A Mothers Love(Part 01).

previously, After being separated from The man (Kevin), Eve falls into a trap created by a mysterious woman covered in silk. The woman ridicules and drives Eve insane until Eve lashes out. However, the situation becomes too much for Eve to handle and she faces death. Despite this, Eve doesn't lose hope. V successfully reaches Eve, and the story now shifts to V's perspective.

After confronting the villagers about their assassination attempt, It is apparent to V that the villagers are hiding something.

V-" I'm going to put this Goddess of yours out of service"

Old man Adolf-"....What did you just say?... YOU INSOLENT FILTH. WE DON'T EVEN ALLOW FILTH LIKE YOU TO STAND IN THE SAME SOIL AS US- YOU'RE NOTHING YOU HEAR ME??! NOTHING!! YOUR BONES WOULDN'T EVEN SUFFICE AS CHEWING TOYS FOR OUR DOGS!"

"You sure you should shout like that?"

V-".....I mean if you shout that loud then you might pop out your lungs or something..considering your age.."

Old man Adolf-"..YOU...YOU STILL MOCK ME..DEATH BE UPON YOU!! YOU FILTHY BASTARD-"

Out of nowhere, something attacks V which destroys the front of the house. V was able to dodge the attack just in time but is now cautious. V was out in the open. Whatever attacked V just now was not human. V sees a humanoid figure emerging from the dust.

V-" Well well…took you long enough to show yourselves…none of you were human in the first place"

Out comes a very muscular, humanoid figure with a contorted face. The monster was different from what V had seen in the past.

V-"...phew~ you sure are tall…you're built like a tank..Took you long enough to show your real faces"

The monster-" You knew us?"

V-" Yeah..kept quiet for the time cuz I wanted to know what the deal was about this village…."

*V's internal monologue starts* 

"Yes. From the beginning I knew something was off about this forest and the "people" living inside it. When we first encountered them I was ready to fight but Kevin had stopped me. Both Kevin and Eve were acting very weird and were being friendly towards these" people" even though from my eyes, they weren't human...When Kevin touched my shoulder it was apparent that even though Kevin and Eve saw them as humans, the reality is that they were far from it. They were humanoid monsters. I figured they put them into an illusion or something…even though they said they come in peace the scent of human blood reeked everywhere. Who knows how many people were slaughtered by these monsters?... Even the room they gave me, reeked of human blood so much I felt sick. That's why I experimented with my abilities and covered the whole room with something resembling a cloak…All this time Kevin and Eve were deluded and saw the pretty picture all I could see were the ugly pictures and these monsters acting like humans. I wanted to wake Eve and Kevin but I also needed to find out what was going on in this village…sorry Eve…I'll come and find you in a bit…

Old man Adolf-"  Hahaha No matter…Even if you found out our true identities it's already too late..your friends are already sent to be sacrifices to our beloved Goddess..and besides a human like you can do nothing to us!! AHAHAHHA"

V-" I wouldn't underestimate them, old man…"

V gets surrounded by monsters. Each has a unique set of features. Some have contorted faces, some are flimsy and skinny, some have eyes covering all of their body parts, and some have their jaws cut off...

V looks around him with an unphased look on his face.

V-" From the looks of things only you have the same consciousness as a human huh?..all of them look like mindless slaves"

Old man Adolf-" They've all been blessed by our beloved Goddess...What beautiful children~...when someone enters this forest we offer them to the Goddess. The sacrifices come out as her newly reborn children..being a part of her family is our honor and reason to live"

V-" What a twisted way to live your life-..Look around you…you think they're happy with this honor you're talking about? All I see are just mindless walking corpses"

Old man-" Your insolence doesn't matter anymore..right now you're about to die!"

V-"...Bring it on old man!"

Old man Adolf-"....Get him-"

One of the monsters surrounding him lashes out at him. The monster throws a punch and V barely manages to dodge it but the monster's entire arm explodes and acid comes out. Some of the acid falls onto V's hands as he guards himself. V confronts it by kicking the monster's leg, throwing it out of balance. V digs his fingers into the monster's collarbone and throws him at Old Man Adolf.

V looks at his hand to see his fingers melting off. Before V could even regenerate the ground breaks and another monster throws a mean uppercut. fortunately, V blocks it but ends up being catapulted into the air. Another monster with wings like a bird blitzed through V and landed a big hit on V's back. The monster retreats but fails as V grabs the monster's leg and pulls it closer to him. He swiftly tears off the wings as the monster screams in agony. They fall on the ground as V uses the monster as a landing cushion. He looks around him and looks at all the monsters surrounding him. V notices that each of their unique traits has something to do with their physical appearance.

V-" Even though they're not human…something about them seems off.."

The monster at V's feet squirms around. V clenches his fist. As V goes for the finishing blow the monster speaks out.

Monster-"...Th-...ank y-y..ou"

By the time the monster had said its final words V had already pulverized its head. V just stood and looked at the monster's smashed head, even though it was faint V could hear them…V could hear the voices of these monsters crying out…V looked at the other monsters surrounding him as he heard them.

"Please …k-kill.. me"" Where

…m-mama?""I-It …hurts" What did…I-I do to deserve this…" Help me…please" E-End me" It hu..rts….so much" Why did…I-it have to be like.. t-this" God please save us" Don't abandon us" Kill…me" I-I want…to die" I can't t-take… this …anymore" We..re is…my child…"God…abandoned us…didn't..he.."I wished…I'd taken my..life.."If..only I hadn't…been..born into..this hell.."...

"God died…and so did we.."

Each of the cries of the monster echoed in V's head. Though these monsters have killed who knows how many people.Even though the old Man said they had sacrificed their souls to their "Goddess" V could still hear the remains of their souls wishing for death.

Old man Adolf-" Hmph…seems like you're a sturdy one…no matter you'll be fodder for the goddess eventually-"

V-" Sorry..could you just shut the fuck up for a sec.."

V looks at the man with his eyes widened and devoid of every other emotion besides rage.

V-" Out comes a single word from your mouth and I'll rip it off clean.."

V's threat sent shivers down the old man's spine.

Old man Adolf-" YOU THINK YOUR THREAT WOULD HAVE ANY EFFECT-"

In an instant, Adolf sees his head completely severed from his body. V grabs hold of the head by its hair and pulls it closer to his face.

V-" I warned you..didn't I?.."

V throws Old Man Adolf's head on the ground and steps on it. Though severed from his body Adolf had full consciousness and Ordered the monsters to attack but…

V-" If anyone here moves even an inch...I promise I won't make your death an easy one."

None of the monsters moved a muscle. All the monsters stood there in their place in silence.

Old man Adolf-" WHAT ARE YOU GUYS WAITING FOR?? ARE YOU ABANDONING THE GODDESS THAT SAVED YOU FROM WHAT'S OUT THERE?? YOU FILTHY BACKSTABBERS YOU DARE TO DISOBEY THE WILL OF THE GODDESS?? EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WAS SAVED BY OUR GRACIOUS GODDESS AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY HER-"

V nonchalantly rips Old Man Adolf's jaw and plants the head on a spike. Pain overwhelmed Adolf, he wished to scream but he had no way to make sounds with his mouth. V pushed until the spike eventually went through Old Man Adolfts head.

V-" Despite all of this you're still alive..I'll deal with you later.."

V leaves the Old Man's head on the spike, twitching from being impaled. V slowly walks by the monsters one by one. The monsters, not even moving an inch of their bodies. The monsters don't respond to any of the old man's orders as he squirms in anger. Later on, V stands before the entrance of the great forest and soon enters.

some time had passed after V had entered the forest. V had many mixed emotions about everything around him, The voices of the monsters, and why they stopped taking orders from the Old man entirely. Why and who was behind all of this slaughtering and what was their main goal...And how a place like this existed in the first place. All these questions were bottled up inside of V's head.

After some time, V notices that he is being followed by someone. It had a very light aura around it but V could sense someone's presence. V looked back to see the woman in silk standing right in front of him. V kept calm and faced the direction of the woman. The woman and V now stand directly in front of each other.

V-"..So..You must be this so-called 'Goddess Azeya' huh?"

The Woman in Silk doesn't reply. V tries to look into her eyes but her eyes are covered by a veil of silk.

V-"...Strenge…I feel as if I've seen you before…and you seem like you don't want to answer my questions….Anyhow. I'm coming for my friends…and I'm coming to have a one-on-one chat with you-"

Just as V finished his sentence, The woman put her hands around V's cheeks and softly embraced V.V was very much surprised and tried to retaliate but before he could do something the woman in silk stepped back instantly. The woman was shocked and anxious the moment she touched him. She looked at V again with her body shaking in anxiety as if the woman had done something unforgivable.

V was confused by the woman's behavior but before he could ask, the woman let out a big screech, disorientating V as he covered his ears. V looked back to see the woman covered in silk had disappeared.

V-"...No time to waste…I gotta get some answers out of this Goddess…"

Just at that moment, V hears a scream deep in the forest. V swiftly responds to the scream and runs in the direction of it. As the screams get louder and louder V runs faster. Right at that moment V stands in shock as he cannot believe the sight before his eyes.

The man(Kevin)-"C'mon Baby~ just a lil; smooch ain't that big of a deal~ Hehehe~..c'mon~ let's have some fun lil'kitty~ Hehehehehhe~~"

V-" Geh-"

V's eyes fill with disgust and disappointment as he frowns. V feels immense regret to see a grown-ass man squirming around, having a wet dream, and making out with bushes.

The man(Kevin)-"Damn girl~ you got a mustache or something?~..you got some bushy lips hehehe~"

V"...I'm glad Eve's not here otherwise someone would be dead by now…KEVIN WAKE UP!"

The man(kevin)-"Hehe~....Huh..Oh..V! You came late to the party man~! There's so many hot chicks I'm in heaven~!"

V walks up to The man(Kevin) and smacks his head.

The man(Kevin)-" WHAT'S THE BIG…idea?...where am I.."

V-" Morning…had a nice night huh?"

The man(Kevin)-"...Ahem…Yo! V! Funny seeing you here- "

V-" NO! WHY ARE YOU FLIRTING WITH THESE BUSHES?? AND IN THE FIRST PLACE WHY ARE YOU HERE???....and where's Eve?"

The man(Kevin)-" Huh? What do you mean? Eve's right here…?"

The man(Kevin) comically looks around only to find Eve nowhere.

The man(Kevin)-".... AHHHHHH!! V!! W-WE'VE GOT A MAJOR P-PROBLEM!! EVE'S LOST!!"

V-" YEAH NO SHIT SHERLOCK, AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE HER GUARDIAN??? HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE??"

The man(Kevin)-" W-WHAT SHOULD WE DO?? WHAT IF SHE GETS EATEN BY A MONSTER??? EVEN WORSE, WHAT I-IF THE MONSTERS GOT A TOE-LICKING FETISH AND THE MONSTERS ATE ALL OF HER TOES??"

V-" WHAT THE FUCK KIND OF SCENARIO ARE YOU EVEN THINKING ABOUT?? AND WHERE'D YOU EVEN GET THE TOE-LICKING PART???"

The man(Kevin)-" Oh..that's cuz I had a dream where this chick was licking my toes…AND FOR SOME REASON I LIKED IT!!!"

V-" NOBODY LIKE LITERALLY NOBODY ASKED DUDE!!!"

After calming down, both of them exchanged what happened to them in the meantime,

The man(Kevin)-"Hmm…I see I see…man you're one unlikable fella huh? Seems like everyone's tryna kill ya"

V-" I think you're missing the point here"

The man(Kevin)-" Not sure when I got separated from her… but we gotta find her ASAP"

V-" You remember where you encountered this beast?"

The man(Kevin)-" Pretty sure it was around here but where to go from here.."

V-" Hmm…I was able to sense someone's aura or something before I met you…Maybe I might be able to find Eve in the same way…"

V closes his eyes. Aside from Eve, he wanted to try figuring out if there were any other auras deep within the forest. After some time V sensed something emitting a weird and horrid aura deep within the forest. It was like a loud static noise. Amidst the noise, V could vaguely hear Eve's voice. V dashes towards the noise without any warning.

The man(Kevin)-" Huh?? Oi, wait for me! You gotta take a dump or something?"

V-" NO! YOU IDIOT! JUST SHUT UP AND FOLLOW ME!"

V and The man(Kevin) rushed towards the noise and drove to the entrance of a cave. As they got to the cave's entrance the static noise got more and more louder.

The man(Kevin)-" Sheesh..this place gives me the heebie-jeebies…And what's more, seems like this is a deep cave.."

V-"..tinks.."

The man(Kevin)-" Pardon? Couldn't hear what ya said-"

V-" This place stinks of human blood.."

The man(Kevin)-" Ah..now that I think about it…the stench sure is unbearable.."

V-" Let's progress deeper…we need to find Eve..and I need some answers.."

Both of them progressed deeper and deeper into the cave. There were lit torches inside the cave so it was apparent that this cave was used by the villagers.

The man(Kevin)-"...Oi V…there's a door over there"

Both stood beside the door.

The man(Kevin)-" On 3 we head in….3..2…1!"

They kick down the door. As they enter the room horror falls onto their faces. They both couldn't believe what was before them. A Vast room filled with corpses. Some were mangled, some tortured, some on nooses..some with their fingers cut off, eyes gauged out, Tongues cut off, Throats slit off, and the stench of blood was so strong it could suffocate someone. The images in front of V rang his head like someone rang the big bang right next to his ears. The noise got louder and louder and louder and louder….

The man (Kevin)-"...well I'll be damned…it's not normal to see this many corpses in one place…"

The man(Kevin) looks around and sees a well with a lid on. He goes toward the well to check out what is under the lid. As he opens the lid he sees more rotten corpses with disfigured body parts and rats and whatnot eating them up.

The man(Kevin)-" Must be piled up here for a long time…just how long have they been gathering people and torturing them for?.."

V stayed quiet the entire time. A mixture of emotions overwhelmed V, so much so that he stopped thinking entirely. But Slowly the insanity of the situation...The screams of the souls residing in that room...The greed for revenge creeps up behind V, begging for a chance to see the person behind all this suffer excruciating pain. The noise gets louder and louder and louder as they wish for revenge, for the person who did all of this to be in a loop of never-ending suffering and pain and all V could think of was how to grant this wish.

The man(Kevin)-"..V..you good to go?"

V-"..Yeah…I'll figure out who's responsible for this…and when I do.."

"I'll pay them back tenfold."

.

 A faint voice could be heard inside the mountain of corpses. V jumps toward the voice, moving every corpse aside. Searching like a maniac, all V could focus was on the voice in front of him. He pulls out a little girl with her legs or arms severed and is covered in an unimaginable amount of bruises and cuts.

V-" HEY!! CAN YOU HEAR ME??... PLEASE BE ALIVE PLEASE…I DON'T WANT MORE PEOPLE TO DIE LIKE THIS.PLEASE…please..answer me…"

The girl coughs and opens her eyes for the first time in a while…

Girl-"...Th…ank you…God..for ..saving..me.."

The girl hallucinates as she sees V for the first time. V tears up from seeing the sight of this girl… patiently waiting for a miracle..patiently waiting for God to answer her prayers…She remained strong despite all the hardship put on her…

V-" Yeah…You're okay..from now on you'll never have to feel this pain ever again. I promise you.."

With the severe condition of the girl, it was apparent that she wouldn't last for much longer…V thinks and thinks but doesn't know what to do. Until an idea crosses his mind.

V-"...Karma.."

Karma-" Long time no see…rare for you to summon me like this.."

V-" Karma…My regenerative abilities…can I give it to this girl?!"

Karma"...That…would be impossible"

V-" BUT-"

Karma-" One cannot simply transfer a person's Gift  like that…for each individual their Gifts Vary and are unique to each…therefore the regenerative power you have might not even work for this girl…"

V-"..Is there nothing I can do for this girl…AM I JUST GONNA WATCH SOMEONE DIE IN MY HANDS AGAIN?"

Karma-"...How about a deal then…If you offer me your soul..then saving this girl would be a walk in the park…choose carefully now..giving up your soul means losing your value as a human…you will always be a slave of misfortune…and I will be the one to control your death…Now what will-"

V-" SO SHE CAN BE SAVED?? PLEASE DO SO QUICKLY"

Karma-"....pardon?"

V-" I'LL GIVE YOU ANYTHING TAKE IT TAKE MY SOUL I DON'T CARE I JUST WANT YOU TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS GIRL"

Karma-"..you'll give up the most valuable item of a human being…just like that…you'll never be able to live normally ever again... you will go through endless suffering…Giving your soul would mean you would-"

V-" I don't care…if I can't save this little girl who's been through so much…then I shouldn't be allowed to live in luxury"

Karma-"....pfft- HAHAHAHA! Luxury you say! HAHAHA…"

V-" HEY! NOW" S NOT THE TIME TO LAUGH TAKE MY SOUL ALREADY AND HEAL THI-"

Karma-" There's no need for that…though it seems that you've forgotten the fundamental trade of gaining Gifts..a person obtains Gifts when they trade off their souls…"

V-"...oh..SO WAIT I DON'T HAVE A SOUL THEN YEAH??? AH WHAT SHOULD I DOO!!"

Karma-" No need to panic you still own your soul. When we contracted we didn't take your soul as compensation so you need not worry about that...Though that in itself is a problem on its own we'll discuss that later..as for the girl…let her drink some of your blood, your blood holds regenerative attributes so it should suffice"

V-" My soul?... Never mind that, My blood... Ok got it…"

V cuts a small inception on his finger and puts a few drops of blood on the girl's mouth. The girl struggles to drink it at first. The bruises on the girl heal instantly and her severed limbs get patched up. The girl's breathing stabilized. She was no longer in danger.

V-"...Phew~..looks like she'll be ok..though it seems like I wasn't able to regenerate her limbs back…But at least she's safe and alive…thank goodness...This time… I was able to save someone…"

The man(Kevin) stands there, in awe of what V has done. Healing someone's dire wounds like that just from a few drops of blood, The man(Kevin) looked at V with shock.

The man(Kevin)-" The bruises on that girl were dire as well as life-threatening and on top of that her limbs were severed off…despite all that he patched up her limbs and healed her injuries like that…Just what are you V…"

Just as they calmed down, The air surrounding them got heavier, Such potent aura and intent to kill made both of them shiver. V could still hear the static noise get louder and louder but very faintly V heard Eve's voice. V doesn't hesitate, He leaves the girl to The man(Kevin)'s care and dashes off to find Eve.

The man(Kevin)-" I'll take care of her..you go bring back my niece"

V-" No need to tell me twice"

V dashes, The closer he gets the louder the static noise gets, Amidst the noise another voice could be heard saying something to V. Baffled, V proceeded to push forward and hit a dead end.

V-"C'mon Eve…talk to me…where are you…"

(Eve)-"...he..h..Help.."

V-" DOWN?!!"

V smashes the ground with his fist, As he falls he sees a heavily wounded Eve and a monster coming at her. The monster looks up to see what has happened.

V-" Sup'! Fuckface!"

V pummels the monster down. V stands in front of Eve and glances at her.

V-"...thank goodness you're alive…"

Eve-" Heh…what took you so long dummy.."

V-" Leave the rest to me…"

The monster screams in agony. V walks toward Eve and offers her a few drops of blood. The monster regenerates instantly and sees v in front of its sight. The monster lashes out and attacks V. V grabs hold of the monster's arm and digs his fingers into its thick skin, pulling and slamming it into the ground. V tears off the monster's arm in the process. The monster remains senseless for a brief moment. V steps on the monster's face and stomps it in rage.

V-" So…are you responsible for all of this? tell me..are you??!"

V keeps stomping the monster again and again as the ground cracks from V's stomping force. The rage overwhelms V as he stomps to his heart's content until nothing remains except the blood splatter on the cracked ground.

V-"...guess you're not it either huh…I should get Eve out of here first.."

The moment V turns his back from the monster, he feels a chill through his spine. He quickly looks back, only to get whacked and grinding against the wall.

V gets disoriented from this sudden attack. V's face gets covered in blood. He was sure he had killed off the monster. The monster reconstructs itself into a new shell. Giving itself a new look. A look that seemed familiar to V.

V-"...That appearance…feels as if I've seen this before…"

The monster's appearance changed into a dazzling woman covered in white cloth but had a lower body of contorted limbs and gaping mouths. The monster grew larger and larger. The only "Human" part of the body opens its eyes to see V in front of it. It lets a horrific screech signifying that it is ready to attack. V bounces off the wall and stands before the monster.

V-"...I guess I can presume that you're Azeya?"

The monster screams at V.

V-" For a Goddess, you don't talk much huh…or rather all you know is to just scream with that big mouth of yours"

V heals his wounds from the previous attack and puts both of his fists up. Both the supposed Goddess and V stand off face to face. The monster, raring to fight and V clenching his fist. Let the battle between a Goddess and a human begin.

"I hope you can answer my questions…Azeya-"
