Study

The study was a very large room. There was a ceiling-to- floor shelve on the left and right that were filled with books mostly and some other things. There was a big desk with a lot of paperwork and documents and a big leather swivel chair behind it. Two single seater sofa were facing the table with a sofa stool in between them. There was another three seater sofa on another side of the room. A big furry rug was placed at the center of the room.

There was a fireplace with a big portrait hanging above it. Although the room was dark themed, it was well illuminated.

Evie was busy adoring the studious and mature setting of the study when she heard Brody say; "I have some E-mail to check, give me a few minutes. You can sit for the mean time."

Evie walked over to the three seater that was a little beyond his eye reach. Just the perfect spot to minimize his attention on her. She sat there quietly like an obedient child while Brody went and sat in front of his laptop.

He opened a few mails and saw that almost all of them had the same content. They were either about him finding a Luna or about the offenses some of the pack members had committed. Of course, the messages were texted as politely as possible with indirect dissatisfaction (which was quite obvious), but they still held only one meaning.

Brody had put the Elders in charge of the different regions in the pack. It was expected of them to give reports and feedbacks on pressing issues that one way or another may affect the pack and it's members.

These things they were telling him about were just so irrelevant and stupid. They had no business with when he was going to get a Luna or who he wanted as his Luna. Still, they kept bringing women to him as 'recommendation.' 'Offenses of pack members?' Someone stole this, someone stole that. They were minor things that could be investigated and dealt with, even with minimum effort. They had access to technology and any criminal offense as minor as stealing could be tracked down and dealt with in no time at all. What were they expecting him to do as the Alpha? Investigating a thief and leaving other pressing issues? What were all the military and security amenities and officials meant for? Left with no choice but to reply their messages, Brody sent replies to them, telling them to settle the issues of stealing themselves and to be patient on getting a Luna and he was working on it.

With a heavy sigh, Brody shut his laptop. 'I've been unable to go through E-mail these days 'cause of Evie's sudden arrival. I wish I hadn't even opened this fucking laptop in the first place.' Most times, he always came across messages like this but on some occasions, some important matters that were worth looking into were reported.

He stood from his seat and walked over to Evie making no sounds at all and sat next to her. She had been looking around throughout and got bored at some point but she didn't know what to do. Once she noticed his presence next to her, she flinched a little and pressed her lips in a thin line while her fingers were fiddling each other on her lap.

'Why does she always do that?' He enjoyed the fact that she was all innocent, cute and shy too but he didn't want her to be afraid of him. He really liked it when she spoke with him earlier. Her sweet voice was like melody to his ears. He wanted to ear it again. He wanted more of it. 'But she only started talking when she encountered Adrian. What did that foolish pup do? I want to be the only one she talks to. She's mine and mine alone.

He took her left hand and placed it in his. 'So small.' he smiled. Her hand looked so pretty and he felt like tasting it. 'It looks so edible.' he thought. He looked into her big eyes that were staring at him curiously at him and said; "Evie, I want you to be honest with me. Are you afraid of me?"

"Uh... I was... I mean, that was when I thought you were... a bad person"

"Hmm..." he hummed. "So what about now."

"I'm not scared anymore."

"But you flinch sometimes when I'm around you."

"I- uh... I am just... cautious."

"I see." He was kind of relieved that she was not scared of him but it still made his heart squeeze that she was cautious of him. Her mate. "You can take your time to get used to me. But I give you my word, you have nothing to be cautious about. I would never do anything to harm you."

"Okay."

"So is there anything you want or want to do."

She did have something she wanted but how would she say it. She didn't want to sound too demanding. But she wanted it so bad.

When he noticed how she was silent for a while, he knew she wanted something. If she didn't, she would have just said no immediately or shook her head.

"You can tell me anything." He tilted his head so that he would he at her eye level.

"I- uh... can I get... ice cream?" A wide grin appeared on his face. 'I can't believe this.' he almost face palmed. 'Ice cream? Really?' The fact that she was even reluctant to say it made it even cuter.

"If ice cream is what you want, then you can get it anytime you want. Just say the word."

"Okay." She smiled.

*KNOCK~KNOCK*

'Come in, Adrian.' Brody said through the mind-link. Adrian opened the door slowly and peeked his head into the study.

"Am I interrupting something?"
