Arachis

After the Great war in 2195, the world's political and social system went through a series of reformation. The system of  geographically allocating land as countries was abolished.

What was left of the world was divided into seven parts, each partition being ruled by the most powerful household in that region. Each household united people of similar elemental abilities, and governed the activities within that region, acting as individual sovereign nations.

The houses that united mankind under various rulership were:

The house of Posiedion,

The house of Terra,

The house of Ares

The house of Artemis,

The house of Phoneix

The house of Stellar

and finally The house of Blood.

The house of Posiedion ruled over people with water affinity. Terra ruled over those with earth affinity. Phoenix over fire affinity. The house of Artemis ruled over those with the ability to manipulate Wind and lightning. Ares ruled over the deviants, those with the ability to manipulate phenomena outside the four elements.

The house of Stellar lacked the ability to manipulate any phenomena but had the highest core energy and intellect, as a result, they were the most technologically advanced region and they weaponized those technologies to make up for their deficiencies.

The house of Blood had the gift of physical and biological mutation. Most of their human DNA now included traces of beast DNA, giving them the ability to utilize those animalistic abilities.

They were other important Houses within each region, but they were inferior to the self proclaimed royal houses. They therefore assisted the royal Houses in ruling, playing legislative roles.

The emergence of this new ruling system, allowed people of different races and backgrounds to be  citizens of any of the seven kingdoms, the requirement of citizenship was one's ability to manipulate a certain phenomenon. The alliance formed by the seven royal houses allowed people to live any region of their choice regardless of one's ability.

"Finally, we have arrived." said a certain passenger. The train halted at the Moore train station and the passengers alighted the train. There were buses waiting outside the train station, meant to take the aspiring students to the Arachis Academy.

On exiting the train station, Adrian was stunned on seeing the tall buildings, hologram advertising boards, hovering cars, crafts and other methods of advance transportation. The train station he admired at home was just a tip of the iceberg compared to this glamorous city he was in. It took a few moments for Adrian to regain his composure before heading towards the bus.

All aspiring students that alighted the train, filled the various waiting buses. It took 20 minutes for them to get to the academy on the outskirts of the city. On arriving, the academy seemed to be covered in some sort of transparent dome.

"It's a protective force field."voiced the military personnel in the bus who noticed the confused expression on most students.

They buses eventually got past the protective layer and into the academy. Adrian came off his bus and noticed several buses similar to the one he just got off, with students who appeared to be within his age group. In an orderly fashion, they were all directed to a massive hall,  filled with armed military personnel. The interior of the hall was splendid, the combination of white and gold paintings on the walls gave a majestic yet elegant impression. The historical statues of fallen warriors gave of a nostalgic aura and the students seemed to get comfortable with their environment. Most students roamed the hall inspecting various items while others like Adrian stood at certain locations observing their surroundings.

"Welcome to hell, rats." Everyone was startled as they searched for the source of this anonymous and frightening voice. It was a blonde, fierce looking lady, probably in her late 30's, she instantly released an ominous but terrifying aura, bringing the students back to their senses.

"Do you think you are all here for sight seeing!! I know most of you came here thinking your all special, well news flash your all bottom barrel trash you have nothing to offer.  I am Major General Anna Clarke, you can call me whatever you like but note I'll break you all, I'll crush  all your childish fantasies. Let's see if any of you pieces of trash make it pass the selection." grinned Major Anna ominously.

Most students were terrified, but Adrian just had a blank expressionless face.

"The selection process has three stages. The first stage is an elemental test, The second a physical test and the final part is an interview with a military personnel. Each of you need to make an overall average of 60 percent in these three tests to become a bonified student of the Arachis, if you don't make it,  it's bye bye to the Arachis. Let the selection begin!"
