20 Autumn's Fall

I finish putting the ship together, and I open the cockpit and sit in it. I turn the power on, and it hums to life. "This is going to be such a fun thing to do." I get a notification from the system, but I don't open it right now. I run diagnostics and see the standard encryption on the systems and how everything is pretty run of the mill. I make many custom adjustments to the programming of the ship.

I improve it in any way that I can. The first being flight controls and others being optimized power output from the core into the weapons and engines. The next things I fix are the quantum tech and hyperdrive functions. In particular range, I increased the jump range by 25,000 extra light-years. Now that I'm done, I open the message from the system.

[Congratulations!]

[You are the first player to design and produce a custom ship. Even for such a feat, we still won't give any extra rewards.]

[Ship: Autumn's Fall]

[Designer: Scott Autumn]

[Total grade: 5.3 stars out of 10]

[Description: The Autumn's Fall was designed by Scott Autumn, the last of the Primordium. It's a masterpiece, given what materials he had to work with. It makes you wonder what he can create with quality SSS+ grade ship parts.]

I pull up the quest regarding my personal starship, and I can see that it's also completed.

[A personal Starship][Completed]

[Description: The reward for your work with the Kalarians is all the supplies you need to build a ship.]

[Mission Difficulty: C-]

[Rewards: Personal Starship.]

[15,000 EXP]

[Note: Quality of the starship depends on you. It'll be rated from 1 star to 10 stars.]

[Note: Difficulty of the mission is lower due to traits, would normally be SS+]

That's a lot of exp for the easy for that I've done, and I've noticed something. It's going to be very difficult for people to get enough exp for things they need. I'm an exception because of the race I am. The rest of the players are going to be grinding like crazy. I pull up my player information and see the new changes I already knew since my mind works through all that math. It's just nice to see you know.

[Hyperthymesia] [Eidetic Memory] [Tech Speak] [Unquantifiable IQ] [Indimidating Genius] [Unparalled Problem-Solving]

I believe there is no upper limit to how much exp you can have, and I don't know how much exp for ship upgrades and mech suit upgrades cost. These are all things we as the players have to discover for ourselves. I love that part of the game.

It makes things so much more interesting. I look over to Pleiknor and Meiklare as they sit and watch in amazement. "So am I allowed to take this baby for a spin." They both shake their heads simultaneously. I sigh and figured as much. They wouldn't let just anyone fly a starship. You will have to learn how to pilot one.

I power down Autumn's Fall and hop out and walk over to them. I stand in front of them, waiting for an explanation. "You have to either pass a flight test with a certified instructor, or you take 3 classes to go over the laws of spaceflight and trans-galactic travel." As Meiklare tells me this, I get a new mission from the system.

Learning new information can also grant missions, which is great to know. "I can schedule a flight test for you, but you'll likely not pass. You've never flown a starship before." While I have never flown one, I have all the knowledge of how to in my head. I pull up the mission to see its details.

[Learning to fly!]

[Description: Get your pilot's license and take your personal starship off-world.]

[Rewards: Pilot's license]

[Exp: 11,000]

[Note: More about flying will be revealed after you pass the test.]

I chuckle and understand where all this is going. "From what I understand, all I need to do is pass the flight test, and I can get my license easy peasy." Pleiknor and Meiklare nod their heads in unison. This is going to be much easier than I thought.

I was worried there would be some sort of pilots school that I'd have to spend weeks or months at. "Schedule the flight test. I have some other things to take care of, I'll come by in a day, and we'll see where we are at." They stand up and head into their office. I look over to Autumn's Fall and release a small sigh.

It'll be a little bit longer, and then I can travel amongst the stars. The thing I need to test out is very important. I need to see the consequences of death in The Aeternus Universe. So that means I have to go and die. I can't assume it works the same ways as other games with loss of levels or exp. Everything is so much different from other games. So time to run some tests.
