19 They are done sooner than expected

As I'm watching history on the developments of the first hyperdrive, it's easy to see the slow progress at first. While capable of trans-galactic travel, it's was still very unsafe. Many out get lost. How they disappeared is unknown. I have many theories from the data I've collected. The first is space travelers got stuck in hyperspace.

A malfunctioning hyperdrive can cause many weird phenomena. Another one is superluminal destruction, which is your ship coming apart while in hyperspace. Those are the more painful deaths. The less likely and more interesting is ending up in another universe or dimension. While scientifically possible, not likely to happen in a game. Unless the A.I.'s went that far into the design of the game.

I hear a knock on the door to the apartment. I don't know why they knock. It's their daughter's home. "You guys can come in without knocking!" The door slides open, and both Pleiknor and Meiklare walk in. Pleiknor has a look of tiredness and is slightly dirty from checking my work on the ships.

They walk up to the couch and see what I've been watching. "I'm looking at the early history of hyperdrive technology. Space travel sure has come a long way." I stand up and figure they are done with everything much earlier than expected. They might not have checked every ship after my work on the ones they did check. "What do you guys need? More work done on ships that have come in? I'll admit it's fun to fix broken ships." Pleiknor and Meiklare look at each other.

Must be having another telepathic conversation. Meiklare turns her head towards me with a slight grin. "We are done checking the ships. After your work on the first few, it's safe to say that the rest were repaired with the same quality. So we came to see if you were ready to design your own starship. It'll take about 2 weeks to build from scratch, but we have an assembly that'll make it around 4 days." Four days is too long, in my opinion.

I can build a starship of my design in less than a day. "I can see that you have another idea. We'll let you have access to the inventory of parts, Pleiknor and I need to rest. Take a break once in a while, Mr. Autumn." They walk away and head to their apartment.

I smile and turn off the holo-terminal. I'm going to start working right away. Building one of my personally designed starships is going to be fun. It's too bad I can't make the nanite starship right now, but what I already have planned to build will be a great quality starfighter. It has my own weapon designs and sheiling designs too.

With the B+ power core, it's going to be outputting a lot of firepower. I make my way to the workshop and head into the inventory room. My mind is already sorting through all the parts I need for the best design I can build with what I have here. I see worker robots to the side, and they get disassembled and stored in my memory too. I walk up to them and activate them. I give them the commands to grabs certain parts.

The part that is going to take the longest is the bones and wiring of the ship. Once that's done, it won't take more than an hour for the rest. The robot workers bring the parts to an empty building platform, and I start to work as they bring things back and forth. I spend around 4 hours building the frame and another 2 hours installing the wiring. Now that the tedious work is done, I can install all the important technology.

I install the ZPE-GE-DS power core first and then the pilot's navigation computer. I work on the single-seat cockpit and install all the consoles and finish that. I then turn my attention to the engines, hyperdrive, shielding, and quantum tech. All these together take me around 6 hours to complete. Now I finally attach all the weapons and link their energy to the power core.

Now all I gotta do is up the panels around the body to make it air-tight, and it's done. As I'm doing that, I notice from the corner of my eyes that Pleiknor and Meiklare are watching. I have been working for 12 hours. "Hey, guys! I hope your break was nice. I'm almost done with my starfighter. All I have to do is make it airtight, and it'll be finished!" They look at each other with very surprised expressions.

It's not normal for any creature to build a starship in 12 hours, let alone one they entirely designed themselves. "I'm thinking about naming it Autumns fall. Does that have a nice ring to it?" I watch Pleiknor take a seat and lean back in a chair. I'll let them take a minute.

I want to take this out for a test flight, and I can't wait to see the grade the system will give it. Once it's finished, it'll probably get between 3.5 stars and 5.5 stars. The average grade of the tech inside is around C-. So I'm proud of my first creation. Autumns fall, the first of my many ships.
