Wanheda: Part 1

Shadow POV

I sit down at the kitchen table with Marcus. You ready to go back to work!?" Marcus asked me. "Why would you ask that?" I questioned. "Well...you took some time off from being a guard...Are you sure you're ready to get back out there?" He asked me. "Since you convinced Abby I needed one?" I reminded him, bitterness in my tone. "Let's not argue about this again, please?" He begged me. I stand from the table. "I've got to go anyway, Lincoln is training some of the other soon-to-be guards" I huffed before putting my bowel into the sink and putting on my guards' jacket and boots before making my way over to the door. "Wait! Sha..." Marcus approached me. "Are you sure you're going to be alright?" he asked. "Yes, I'm fine" I lied. "Well I know Bellamy—" I cut him off. "Bellamy and I are over, That's the end of it" I hissed out before exiting our dorm and walking down the hall. "Well hello there gorgeous" Raven smiled as she passed by me, probably on her way to electrical. "Raven" I smiled back before turning and walking further down the hall. "Miss Black!" I hear my name being called out. Another guard approached me "Your father explained you'd be back on guard today" he smiled. "Yes, I'm heading to the training class" I explained. "So you want in on duty?" He asked me. "Depends on what it is," I say. "Map run, Sector 7," he tells me. "Uh..sure count me in" I smile. "Good, be there in two hours," he tells me. When I get to the gym I see Bellamy and Lincoln with a group of trainees. "Is that..." Monroe gasped. "When did they allow her back?" Harper then whispered. Bellamy looked over his shoulder at me and his eyes widened in shock. "Sorry, I'm late..." I say to Lincoln, completely ignoring Bellamy. "Why don't we get started?" I suggested. "Anyone else feels the tension in the room?" Harper asked Monroe. "We're going to start with Bellamy and me on the Mat" Lincoln smirked to Bellamy as they take off their shirts.

I watch as Bellamy and Lincoln begin fighting. Lincoln throws a punch and Bellamy blocks then begins hitting Lincoln in the stomach. When Bellamy tries to hit him again Lincoln blocked and punches Bellamy in the face before using his foot and knocking him to the floor. I take in a sharp breath but see Bellamy hit the floor before standing to his feet. He charged at Lincoln only to get flipped over on his back, Lincoln raising his fist and pausing. I do badly want Lincoln to knock him out. I walked in front of the group "Anyone notices the mistake that was made?" I asked. They all look at one another. "He had Lincoln, but he was too aggressive burn off more energy quicker..." I tell the class. Lincoln helped up Bellamy "Whatever you say..." Bellamy whispered under his breath. "Leaving so soon?" Lincoln asked him as Bellamy puts his shirt back on. "Mapping run. Sector 7" Bellamy informed Lincoln. "Crap..." I huffed out. "You've got this Lincoln? I got put on Sector 7" I say to him. Bellamy spun on his heel as he shakes his head. "Absolutely not, You are not going to sector 7" Bellamy ordered as he approached me. I couldn't help but laugh at his attempt to use authority over me. "Watch me..." I hissed. "Sector 7?" Lincoln asked as he approached me. "That puts you right in Ice Nation border" He informed me. Bellamy approached me "Just because Aztecs are part of the Commander's coalition doesn't mean they respect a ceasefire, I should be in that scout," Lincoln tells me. "I wish...We all do" Bellamy tells him. "But...until the commander agreed to lift the kill order on you, you're more trouble than you're worth," I tell him. "Right..." Lincoln scoffed before I stalked off with Bellamy.

We stepped into Marcus's office to see him writing on the board. "This is the first sleep the Chancellor's has in two days," Marcus says. "We'll be quick then. We're going into sector 7. I think we should arm the entire unit" Bellamy tells Marcus. "You think that's wise Shadow? It's your first day back" Marcus reminded me, tilting his head to the side. Anger boiled inside "Yeah, I'm fine..." I say as I clench my jaw shut. Marcus shakes his head "I don't like it, You had a breakdown three weeks ago" Marcus tells me. "I know this, and I told you I am fine" I hissed out. "I'll keep an eye on her" Bellamy tells Marcus. "I don't need you, Bellamy, you've made that perfectly clear" I clench my hands into a fist, digging my nails into my palm as my heart pounds in my chest and my skin becomes hot. Marcus nodded "Permission granted, but the rules of engagement still apply. Non-lethal response" Marcus tells Bellamy. "Copy that," Bellamy says. We go to leave but Marcus called out to me. "Shadow.." I stopped, causing Bellamy to as well. "There hasn't been an attack since Mount Weather. That's three months. Our people believe that this is real peace so try not to screw that up" He says to me. "Yes, Sir" I scoffed before leaving with Bellamy.

We entered the garage to see Monty sitting on a chair. "Monty! Why aren't you ready?" Bellamy asked him. "I am," He says, looking over his shoulder to see me. "He's not" Monty looked towards the floor and I see Jasper passed out cold. I walked over and Bellamy followed with Monty. "What should we do?" Monty asked. "We should leave him this time," Bellamy says. "He's not getting any better. Maya's death broke him. He needs this" Monty tells Bellamy. "Take an arm..." I sighed, walking over to Jasper. Monty helped me pick him up and walk him over to the heel. "Zeke, I said produce first, Art doesn't go bad" a woman called out. "He's all yours," Bellamy tells me before walking away. I watch Bellamy approach his girlfriend and I feel jealousy boil through my body. She looked at me staring at both of them and pulls Bellamy in, kissing him on the lips. "Shadow...don't" Monty warned. I look at Monty "I'm not..." I shake my head. "It's been two months since Bellamy and I broke up, I'm over him" I lied. "You are such a lair" Monty accused me. I slammed my bag into the Jeep. "Hey! Easy!" Raven warned as she gets out from under the Jeep. "Morning to you too" I laughed as she stands from the ground. Bellamy tossed Miller a gun as he walked by me. "What's the point of a gun if we can't shoot them?" I asked. "We can. Just not to kill" Bellamy responded. "That goes for everyone" Bellamy glared at me. "I don't take orders from you Bellamy" I hissed out. "Great...this will be fun" Monty whispered. "Where Octavia?" Bellamy asked. "We're going outside the wall, honestly think she's going to miss that?" Miller asked Bellamy. Monty grabs a cold bucket of water, throwing it on Jasper. "Sorry, was that too cold?" Monty asked. "Ahhh!" Jasper grabbed a hold of Monty, shoving him against the Jeep. I rushed over to Jasper and pushed him away from Monty. "Hey! Are you insane?" I hissed out. "Who decided to let the crazy chick come?" Jasper laughed. I tilted my head to the side for a moment before shaking my head. Jasper walked around me and tried to grab a gun. "No gun for you, not until you're sober" he informed Jasper. "Don't want one" Jasper stated before saluting Bellamy, hitting him in the face, and climbing into the Jeep. "Let's do this..." I sighed before getting in the back. Bellamy climbed into the Jeep next to me, sitting very close. "She's not right for you," Raven tells him. "Shut up..." Bellamy shakes his head. "Careful, Monty might melt her" Jasper mumbled. "Enough!" I shouted at Jasper. "Raven...take us out" I ordered. She nodded and started the Jeep. Just as the doors open up Octavia is there on a horse. "Guess we found her" I stated. "Try and keep up!" Octavia called out before running off. Raven drives the Jeep to the gate, following Octavia. We face Octavia down the road. "The day...after today" Monty takes out Jasper's headphones. "No way. If you're gonna ride shotgun you can't just disappear" he tells Jasper. Jasper then unplugged his headphones and plugged the pod into the Jeep. Monty tried to take it out. "Hey! It's fine. It's a long ride" I smiled at him. The drums start on the song, causing Miller to air drum. Raven begins nodding her head to the beat. "Why can't I get just one kiss? Why can't I get just one kiss? Maybe something I wouldn't miss" I sing along to the music. "Why can't I get just one screw? Why can't I get just one screw? Baby, I know what to do. But something won't let me make love to you" I sing with Jasper, Miller leaning his head on Monty's arm causing Bellamy to shake his head and laugh at us. "Dayyyy! After day! I get angry!" I belted out. "And I will say! That the day! Is in my sights!" I sing with Jasper, laughing at my friends around me. "When I take a bow! To say goodnight!" I belted out. I throw my head back, laughing and Bellamy glanced over at me. I felt like my heart got squeezed like my heart could burst. The music keeps going and Jasper got out of his seat and poked his head out of the sunroof. "Woah!" He screamed. Beep beep beep! Raven turns off the radio. "The tracking beacon from the Ark" Monty gasped. Raven slammed on the breaks, causing me to be thrown right on top of Bellamy. "Sorry..." I apologized. "Hey, that was the best part," Jasper tells us as he comes back inside. "Who is that?" Bellamy asked after clearing his throat. Monty typed in a few things. "Farm station" he informed us. "After four months? How?" I asked him. "We'll find out. Where are they?" Bellamy asked. The back door opened and Octavia is standing there. "Don't tell me I missed the party" she sighed. "Sector 8," Monty says. "That's Ice Nation" I stated. "What about it?" Octavia asked. "Protocol says we go home. Let the Chancellor decide what to do next" Raven reminded us. "Screw the protocol. The Chancellors not from farm station" I hissed out. "Monty is. So is Millers' boyfriend" I stated. "But it's your call Bellamy" I look at him. "Let's do this" Bellamy says. "Try to keep up" I teased Octavia, causing her to smile and close the door.

We pulled off to the side, stopping before all jumping out of the jeep. Octavia tied up her horse. "These woods must be the border," I tell everyone. "So, where's all the ice?" Jasper asked, obviously still drunk. "Much further north. Azgeda stretches for 1,000 miles" Octavia tells us. "Good thing we only have to go 200 meters" Monty informed us. I keep me him close to my body but then Bellamy held his hand out in front of me, stopping me in my tracks. "Slow down. Remember rules of engagement are a non-lethal force" Bellamy reminded me. "Right, no need of reminder..." I hissed out. "Tight formation on my command" Bellamy ordered. "Raven! You get back in that Rover!" I shouted at her. "Yeah, right" Raven scoffed as she rolled her eyes, approaching in between us. "Then who will keep you two from killing each other?" Raven smirked, hinting to Bellamy and I. "Besides, we need every gun we've got," Octavia says. "They're coming" Monty announced. "120 meters, 110.." Monty says and I raised my gun when I hear the trigedasleng language. "Hey! They're our people. What are you doing?" Monty asked me. "We hope they're our people" I hissed out. "On my command," Bellamy says. We see the big men on horses and my heart begins to pound in my chest. "Ice nation?" I whispered. "Yes..." Octavia answered. "White war paint..." she whispered before slowly approaching the men. Octavia raised her hands in the air. "Stay calm..." she ordered. The men spit out words I hadn't yet come to know. "Skaikru" Octavia answered. "Ste lufa osir Kru au" she spoke. "Ste lufa Wanheda au" one man spoke. "They think we're looking for Wanheda" Octavia informed us. "Who's that?" I asked. "I don't know" Octavia answered. "The light. That's the beacon" Monty tells Bellamy. Jasper quickly begins to approach the Ice nation man. "Hey! Get back here!" I called out to Jasper. The other two men aim their bows at Jasper. "What are you doing?!" Raven asked Jasper. "Jasper!" Octavia goes to grab him but he shoved her off. "It's okay. I got this" He chuckled. "Tell them we observe the Commanders truce. Do it now!" I ordered Octavia. "Osir gouda ogonzaun Kom Heda in!" Octavia spoke. Jasper then ripped the beacon from the man. "This belongs to us" he goes to turn when the man grabbed a hold of Jasper, putting a knife to his throat. "Weron Wanheda kamp raun?" He spoke in a threatening tone. I cocked my gun. "Breik em au!" I shouted, telling them to let Jasper go. "Osir nou get in chon daunde bilaik! Beja. Oso na sis choda au, nami?" Octavia tells them. Jasper smirked at the man, chuckling lowly. "Yo vout in dison ste leyos?" He sliced the blade across Jasper's throat. My finger squeezed the trigger and I shoot the men in the arm and Raven's gun went off. "Hold your fire!" Bellamy ordered. "Jasper! Get down!" Octavia shouted and suddenly her sword is thrown into the men I had shot. "Rover 1. Come in. Repeat. Rover 1. Come in!" My father shouted over my radio. "What now?" I was huffer. "Shadow? Bellamy? Where are you?"My father asked. Bellamy and I walk away from Jasper and over to the Rover. "We had to shoot. Three ice nation scouts. Culvert sector 4. Copy" I say over the radio. "Can you tell me what's going on?" I asked. "When you get here. Over and out" my father says. "Sector 4? Why's your father so far outside the wall?" Raven asked me. "Take him home!" Bellamy shouted at Raven. "I'm fine, thanks for asking" Jasper groaned. "Miller!" I called out. "Yeah?" He asked. "Get one of their horses!" I ordered. "Raven since you can't ride, you're on the back" Bellamy ordered. "Monty, Shadow you're with me," he says. "Let's go!" He shouted, ordering us around once again. "Fine, whatever" I huffed, getting into the Rover with Bellamy and Monty. We drove just outside a tunnel and stopped the rover. All three of us climbed out and began walking along the road. "You were right about Jasper, okay? Is that what you want to hear?" Monty asked Bellamy. "Quiet, keep your eyes peeled" Bellamy ordered. "I could've said no" Bellamy adds. "He's getting worse, isn't he?" Monty asked, glancing at me. "I mean getting drunk every night is one thing but smiling with a knife to your throat, that's next level damaged" Monty explained. Suddenly I knit my brows together to see my

Father with another person. "Who's he with?" Monty asked. Then I see the grounder "Great, Indra..." I scoffed. "That's Indra?" Monty asked. "He must've told her we broke the truce," Bellamy says. "Sir! Before you say anything, there was a good reason-" My father cut Bellamy off as we approached them. "We'll deal with that later. This is about Clarke" My father asked. "What about her?" I asked, her name bringing hurt and pain inside my chest. "She's being hunted" Indra announced. "By who?" Monty asked. "By everyone" she informed us. My heart sank further into my chest. But anger rose, the fiery pain of anger. It made my skin warm and boiled my blood. "This your Commanders fault!" I hissed about ready to attack her when my father quickly stands between us. "Just...get in the rover and Indra will explain" My father ordered.

I'm driving the Rover, Bellamy in the passenger seat, and Monty, Indra, and my father in the back. I don't swerve around the potholes nor do I miss any bumps. "I'm still getting used to her driving myself" I hear my father comment. "Marcus, we're almost out of range" I informed him. "Are you sure you don't wanna tell mom?" I questioned. "I'm sure. I don't wanna worry her until we know something" My father says. "We know there is a kill order. You people big on those aren't ya?" I asked Indra. "It's not a kill order. It's a bounty" Indra corrected me. "Clarke is a symbol. She's known as Wanheda. The commander of death" Indra informed us. "The ice nation guys we killed asked about Wanheda. They're looking for Clarke. Why?" Bellamy asked her. "My people believe that when you kill someone you get their power. Kill Wanheda and you command death" Indra explained. "You're people also believe in dishonesty, untrustworthy, Rabidly be-" my Father is quick to shout. "Shadow Athena Black! Enough!" He screamed. The rover was silent for a moment. "Clarke is just one girl," he tells Indra. "So was the commander. What Clarke did at Mount Weather weakened her. The ice Nation is emboldened. Their queen wants Clarke power" Indra explained. Bellamy glanced over at me, I knew what he was thinking. It wasn't just Clarke, I killed Dante and suggested we burn the whole bunker. "Of her people believe she has it, she'll break The coalition and start a war" Indra says. "I can't let that happen" Indra finished telling us. Beep beep! I click the button on the radio telling me we're in sector 7. "Where to now?" I asked my father. "If she's here. She'll need supplies. We'll start at the trading posts" Indra explained. I pressed my foot harder on the gas, speeding down the road even faster. I drive until it's pitch black outside. Even then we keep driving. Suddenly I see a log lying down in the middle of the road, causing me to slam on the breaks. "God damn it Shadow!" Bellamy shouted. "Like it was my fault! There's a huge log in the middle of the road!" I shouted back. "We have to move it" I breathed out. Bellamy nodded his head but when we go to get out Indra spoke. "Wait..." she says. "It's been cut down" she informed us. "You couldn't possibly know that" I scoffed. Bellamy climbed out of the passenger seat and stood up, peeling out the roof. Suddenly another tree comes crashing down behind us, inches from hitting the Rover. "We do now..." Indra tells me. We all get out weapons ready and I cock my gun, loading it and looking out the windows all around us. If they were out there, I knew we were surrounded.
