Thirteen

Shadow POV

They bring Octavia and me into the commanders throne room, gaged and bond with our hands begin our backs. "Shadow, Octavia!" Clarke gasped. "Forgive me for intruding on this holy day, Commander" Semet tells Lexa. "I am Semet of Trikru and I come seeking justice" he tells her. I breath heavily as I look at Clarke again. "Explain yourself. Why do you hold Shadow and Octavia of Skaikru prisoner?" Lexa asked him. "They are prisoners of war, Commander. Brought here to bear witness to the crimes of their people" he stated. "What crimes? What happened?" Clarke asked. "Skaikru attacked their village" Titus tells everyone. "Because their warriors were lost when your people massacred the army we had sent to protect you their village was defenseless" Titus explained. "Please commander. I beg you avenge us" Semet pleaded. I notice Indra in the corner "Blood must have blood!" He yelled. "Death to Skaikru!" Another grounder shouted. "You will show respect in this chamber!" Titus shouted at everyone.

Lexa entered back into the room with Titus and Clarke. "Today I call upon the armies of the 12 clans to march on Arkadia" Lexa informed them all. "Not to attack but to contain" she informed them. "We will blockade the 13th clan. We'll will keep them from the lands they wish to possess" She tells them all. "We will give them time to take out their leaders from within" she explained. "Once they rise up against them, then we will welcome them back as one of us" she finished. "You heard the commander. Send riders!" Titus ordered. "Tell your armies to set up a buffer zone around Arkadia. 5 miles should be enough to keep them away from our villages" Titus explained. "What are their orders Heda?" Titus asked. "If any Skaikru is caught across the line will be subject to a kill order" she explained. "Heda I do not understand. How is this vengeance?" Semet asked her. "It is not vengeance my brother. It is justice" Lexa stated. "Skaikru killed my sons! And my brother and my wife!" She shouted. "If the spirit of the Commander will not protect us then what will?" He asked. "You mind yourself, Semet" Titus Warner him. "Death to the commander!" Semet shouted as he takes out a knife and runs towards Lexa. Titus runs at Semet and blocked the knife before stabbing him. "Blood must have blood" Titus tells Lexa as grounders hood Octavia and I on our knees.

Clarke takes us to her room. "No wonder you two wanted to stay" Octavia joked. "Stop. You know why I'm here" Clarke tells Octavia. I sit down on the bench and rubbed my temples. "Are you both okay?" Clarke asked. "We're fine" I tell her. "I saw Indra in the crowd. Why wasn't she with Lexa?" Octavia asked. "Indra is not doing so well, Octavia" Clarke tells her. "We can't deal with that right now" she shakes her head. "Okay so what do we do?" I asked Clarke. "I have to talk to Lexa" Clarke stated. "You just did that and came out with a kill order on all of us" Octavia pointed out. "That's the second time that she's left us all to die" Octavia added. "The 12 clans want a war. You know that" Clarke reminded her. "Lexa is just trying not to wipe us out" Clarke added. "Why am I not surprise that you're still defending her?" Octavia asked. "I'll see what I can do" Clarke whispered. "Stay here" Clarke ordered the both of us. "Yeah right..." Octavia stated. "Octavia wait..." I whispered, following behind her. "Where are you going?" I asked her. "See Indra...Stay here" She tells me before taking off. "What do I look like? Everyone ordering me around?" I scoffed before walking back into the room.

Clarke joined me in her room. "She told you that you can stay didn't she?" I asked Clarke. She didn't answer me "What did you say?" I asked her. "Nothing" Clarke answered me. "Clarke we both know that pike will not obey the blockade. We need to stop him before more of our people get killed" I tell her. "What if I can do more for them by just staying here?" She asked me. "You can't! Clarke" I raised my voice. "We don't have time for this" I hissed out. She lowered her head and I reached my hand out to her. "Look. We need you. The kill order goes into effect at dawn. You have an hour to say your goodbyes" I instructed Clarke before walking towards the door. I look over my shoulder to her. "If your not there. You're not the person I thought you were" I say before exiting her bedroom. I knew how she felt towards Lexa and how Lexa feels towards her. But it couldn't happen in the middle of this.

Octavia and me waited for Clarke but she hadn't come. "She's not coming...let's go" Octavia says. We begin walking down the stairs when a voice called out. "Octavia kom Skaikru!" I looked over my shoulder to see Indra approaching us, shaking hands with Octavia. "Indra, so we've joined us" I smirked only to receive an eye roll. "Don't look so happy about it" She tells me as we begin walking out of the city.
