Chapter 56: Marriage Write

Lisa's eyes flashed with defiance, but her voice trembled slightly. "What other reason could there be?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

But Lugard saw the faint glimmer of guilt in her eyes, the slight droop of her lips. He knew she was hiding something. "You feel sorry for me, don't you?" he asked, his voice softening.

Lisa's mask slipped, and for a moment, Lugard saw the genuine concern and remorse in her eyes. She looked away, her voice barely above a whisper. "Maybe...a little."

Lugard's expression softened, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I see," he said, his voice gentle. "You didn't mean to hurt me, did you?"

Lisa shook her head, her eyes welling up with tears. "No, I didn't. I thought you were a kidnapper and thief sneaking into my room to harm me, I was angry...and scared."

Lugard's face was a picture of compassion, his eyes filled with understanding. "I know," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know."

After finishing wiping away the blood, Lisa turned to head to the nearby cabinet, her movements swift and purposeful. "I'll get the first aid kit," she said, her voice firm and practical.

Lugard watched her go, his eyes never leaving her back. He felt a pang of surprise at her gentle care, her concern for his well-being. No one had treated him with such kindness in a long time.

Lisa returned with a small, white box, its contents spilling out as she opened it. She knelt beside him, her hands moving with precision as she cleaned and dressed his wounds.

As Lisa applied the antiseptic, she said, "If it hurts, cry or scream it out. Don't pretend to be a strong guy." Her voice was soft, but firm, as if daring him to show weakness.

Lugard just stared at her, his eyes never leaving hers, as if mesmerized by her beauty. He didn't even wince, his face a mask of calm, as if the antiseptic was nothing more than a gentle breeze on his skin.

Lisa's eyes narrowed, her gaze searching for any sign of pain or discomfort. But Lugard's expression remained impassive, his eyes locked onto hers with an unnerving intensity.

"You're not even flinching," Lisa said, her voice laced with a mix of surprise and curiosity. "Are you even feeling anything?" or are you dead that you don't feel anything?

Lugard's gaze never wavered, he didn't respond to her stupid question.

Lisa's hands moved with precision, her touch gentle as she treated and bandaged Lugard's wound. She applied a thin layer of ointment, her fingers tracing the edges of the cut before covering it with a soft, white gauze.

As she worked, Lugard watched her, his eyes never leaving hers, his gaze intense. Lisa felt his gaze like a warm caress, her skin tingling with awareness.

She secured the gauze with a small piece of tape, her fingers brushing against his skin. Lugard's eyes flickered, his gaze dropping to her hands before returning to hers.

"All done," Lisa said, her voice soft, as she sat back on her heels.

Lugard nodded, his eyes still locked onto hers. "Thank you," he said, his voice low, his gaze burning with intensity.

Lisa's heart raced, her pulse pounding in her ears. She felt like she was drowning in his eyes like she was losing herself in their depths.

She stood up, her movements abrupt, and stepped back, trying to break the spell. "You should rest now," she said, her voice firm, trying to hide her emotions.

Lugard nodded, his eyes never leaving hers, as he stood up, his movements fluid. " am still busy in the study," he said, his voice low.

Lisa's eyes widened as she checked the time. by this time of the night, you are not going anywhere.

Lugard narrowed his gaze. and how do you plan to stop me?

Lisa's eyes widened as she checked the time. "By this time of the night, you're not going anywhere. forget about the work tomorrow you can continue. Lisa said firmly.

Lugard narrowed his gaze, his eyes glinting with amusement. "And how do you plan to stop me?" he repeat, his voice low and husky, his tone daring her to try.

Lisa's hands went to her hips, her stance widening as she faced him. "I won't let you go out there and work in the middle of the night, alone with this injury in your head," Mr Lu". Lisa said, her voice firm, her eyes flashing with determination.

Lugard raised an eyebrow, his gaze never leaving hers. "And what will you do to stop me, little one?" he asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm, his tone implying that she was no match for him.

She bit her lip and said, "We haven't slept together since we got married, have we?"

Lugard's smile turned wicked, "Oh, you want us to consummate our marriage right? You want to sleep with me."

Lisa stuttered, "N-no, that's not what I meant! I mean sleeping together, you sleeping in my room for tonight, nothing more."

Lisa trembled, her eyes darting away from Lugard's intense gaze.

Lugard smiled cunningly, "Of course, he knew what she meant. he just feels like teasing this troublemaker."

Lugard said seriously, "I'm not sleeping in your room,"

Lisa smiled sweetly, "Do you forget I have the door keys and you can't leave?"

Lugard took a step towards her, his eyes locked on hers, "Like a god, to take the key from her pocket.

I have already flushed the keys in the toilet. Lisa said.

Lugard's smile faltered, his eyes narrowing in surprise. "You've already flushed the key?" he repeated, his voice tinged with amusement.

Lisa nodded, her eyes sparkling with triumph. "Yes, I have. And even if you try to break the door, I've already locked it from the inside. You're not going anywhere tonight."

Lugard chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You're a clever one, Lisa. I'll give you that."

He took another step closer, his movements fluid and deliberate. "But I'm not going to try to break the door. At least, not yet."

Lisa's heart skipped a beat as Lugard's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes burning with intensity.

He looked at the window, walking towards it. his eyes narrowing as if considering his options.

"If you dare to jump down and die, I'll help to bury you with no remorse or cry for your death. I don't have any tears to waste." Lisa said, with an indifferent face.

Lugard stared at her, his gaze turning cold. He thought to himself, "you really didn't like me." troublemaker.

Lisa waited for him to make a move, her heart pounding in her chest. But instead of trying to leave, Lugard stormed towards her pink bed, his movements abrupt and angry.

He ripped off his shoes and lay down on the bed, his eyes fixed on the ceiling. Lisa watched him, her mind racing with thoughts of what to do next.

The silence between them was oppressive, the tension palpable. Lisa felt like she was walking on eggshells, waiting for Lugard to explode.

But as the minutes ticked by, Lugard remained still, his chest rising and falling with slow, deep breaths.

Lisa watched him, her heart racing with a mix of emotions. She had expected him to argue, to try and convince her to let him leave. But instead, he seemed to have given up.

"You're going to sleep here?" she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lugard didn't respond, his eyes fixed on the ceiling.

Lisa felt a pang of guilt, wondering if she had gone too far.

She hesitated for a moment, then she walked to the couch and sat on looking at him.

After a few minutes, Lisa spoke up. "Mr Lu?"

He didn't respond.

"Young master, I..."

He turned to face her, his eyes cold and hard. "What?"

Lisa swallowed hard, her heart racing. "I just wanted to say...I'm sorry."

Lugard closed his eyes indifferently without saying a word to her.
