[Jonathan's POV]
Having just killed the Celestial Emissary, Asher, Victor and I slowly descended deeper into the earth as the long elevator took us down, palpitation rising with every second.
The entirety of our team had gotten a rather big boost in power since our last mission, thanks to the time we had bought within The Boys.
None of us had really focused on side missions because there wasn't much the world could give us other than Compound V, which we could already get as much as we wanted thanks to our connection to Stan Edgar.
But since the powers granted by Compound V were rather random in nature, and could work against future powers we intended to get, or even those we already had, we had decided to abstain from injecting us with it, and instead trained our powers.
For me, it was pretty straightforward. I learned more Spells, how to manipulate my Ancient Magic, and how to fight with my magic.
This great increase in power did make most of Bloodborne's bosses much easier than they should have been. What we had initially dreaded as one of the most dangerous worlds, was turning out to be a competition for Points.
The element we feared most, the insanity that came with living in this world, also called 'Insight', was somehow not even a problem, as we all kept our minds together with ease.
Well, I suppose that when one faces death so often, this world does seem a little less scary than it used to.
We did not let ourselves be blinded by our egos, however.
We all still remembered God's Game's nature, and it would never put us in a mission that was too easy for us. Moreover, there was still the mysterious disappearance of Alexander and Mary.
None of us believed they had been killed, they wouldn't just die like that, especially not Alexander, but it remained a fact that they had disappeared out of thin air.
That's why we decided to take precautions with some of the harder bosses of the game. Not necessarily those that were the hardest to beat within the game, but instead those that were supposed to be the strongest within the lore.
That is, the Great Ones.
Of those we could fight, there was Amygdala, the giant spider-like aberration that we found out was the weakest of the Great Ones, as it wasn't even a unique entity, but rather a sub-species within the Great Ones.
We had already killed a few, and they weren't that much stronger than regular bosses.
The others were not so docile, however.
We decided to split into two groups of three to kill them. Asher, Victor and I formed the first group, and Jordan, Sarah and Helena formed the second.
They would be dealing with the Orphan of Kos and Mergo's Wet Nurse, while we would be dealing with Ebrietas, Daughter of the Cosmos, whom we were on our way to kill right now, as well as several Kin, such as the Celestial Emissary whom we just killed.
The elevator finally stopped, and before us was a large door, leading towards a giant cave. And on the other end of that cave, was a giant, house-sized monster lying in wait.
Like many other monsters in Bloodborne, it looked completely alien, but there was something else. Looking at it felt… wrong.
Adverting my eyes from its form, the uncomfortable feeling did not disappear however. Holding my temple, I activated my Occlumency, and the uncomfortable feeling finally disappeared.
Next to me, Asher was frowning as she said, "These might be more of a problem than we originally thought."
I nodded, and Victor asked, "Should we call the others?"
I hesitated for a moment, before taking out a coin, "Better be safe than sorry."
I flipped the coin in the air, and before it could fall back into my hand, Jordan appeared in mid-air. He quickly stabilized himself, landing on his feet as he looked around, making sure we were all here, before looking across the room.
He frowned too as he looked at the mourning Ebrietas, and asked, "You called me to have everyone fight it?"
I nodded, and he disappeared. Five seconds later, Sarah appeared, alongside her Dremora Summon. The fiend looked at Ebrietas with a savage grin as it said, "Its flesh will make a nice sound when I cut it open!"
It was about to rush at it, but all it got was a lightning bolt to the face.
It didn't really look like it was hurt, but its battle intent sure was quenched as it stood still. I almost smiled when it shot a hateful glare at Sarah after she turned her back to it. It looked like a child, despite being an almost immortal being.
After that, it took a little longer than we expected for Jordan to come back with Helena. It took them a whole couple of minutes.
Moreover, as they did, Helena had several rips in her clothes and quite some blood on her. Jordan himself didn't look completely fine either as his left hand had burn marks.
Before we could ask what happened, Helena asked, "Is that Ebrietas?"
We nodded, and Sarah's hand glowed green as she said, "Let's use Qansiine as our tank. I think it is weak to lightning, so if you have any lightning attack, use them."
The green light spread to her entire body, something I recognized as an Alteration Spell from Skyrim. If I remember right, she is Apprentice Level in Alteration so that should be Stoneflesh.
Skyrim's Magic system was quite versatile and strong, given some mastery in it. If she was as good in Alteration as she was in Conjuration, she would be able to use Ebonyflesh, which would probably give her a stronger defense than any of us.
Asher went prone, using the ground to support her sniper rifle as she said, "I will be giving you support from here. Try not to let it approach me."
Although she said that, we all knew she could defend herself in close quarters.
We still didn't know much about her sword, which she had gotten from Claire. We all knew something had changed when she died, but Asher didn't say anything, and we didn't want to be inconsiderate. Besides, if everything went well, then she should never have to use it.
As we all prepared in our own way, we finally approached Ebrietas. I tried to not look at her directly for now, as while I could defend my mind with Occlumency, it was easier to keep her in a corner of my vision for now, and not exhaust myself ahead of time.
But before any of us could attack, Qansiine, who had now received Sarah's permission to attack, screamed his lungs out as he rushed at Ebrietas.
Leaping several meters high, he reached Ebrietas just as it turned around to look at what was disturbing its mourning process, and the Dremora slashed his two handed sword into Ebrietas' head.
Wielding a Daedric Greatsword enchanted with fire damage, the Dremora swung mightily right into Ebrietas' face.
There was a moment of stillness as we looked on, unsure of the damage done. Qansiine, as he reached the ground, took his sword out of the creature's face, leaving behind a huge burnt slice, and laughed.
But barely did he start laughing that Ebrietas suddenly swung one of its many tentacles at the Dremora, and sent the upper part of its body flying.
Qansiine's legs remained standing for a moment, as if they hadn't realized what had happened, before crumbling to ground in a gory mess. And before I could locate the upper part, the Dremora's corpse fizzled out of this plain, returning to oblivion.
There was now nothing standing between Ebrietas and us.
