Ch.6 Is it too late...

Have you ever been ignored by people around you as if you were air? Well I wasn't always the guy that grabs peoples attention, even though some people may look like they wanna stab me with their eyes. Back then even my family would just forget I exist, Well I was an easily forgetable guy, don't get me wrong, no one has ever tried sitting on me before. Other than my current charming personality, back then I was plain as they come, not counting the fact that I barely talk unless called upon or spoken to directly. I was even the home alone kid six family outings in a row... the fact that my room door blends in with the painted wall, doesn't help at all. Worst even after all the self improvement, style change and even after a body swap expirience people still treats you like air...

Jie took a smoke then said to One, "The four of us will stay here." One was planning to explain to them their next actions, but Jie's words had him taken aback.

(Wow, really? I was here the whole time, I would have been miffed if I was included when I wasn't aware.. but not include me at all? Oh maybe he just mis-counted like he did in the beginning of the movie. Counting 7 instead of 8, I've always thought he didn't count himself since his a veteran.)

One paused for a moment then said, "What do you mean? We don't have time to joke around."Jie threw away the cigarette butt and said in a serious tone. "Not joking. I meant the four of us will stay here." jesturing toward Zheng and the rest." I think you realized that the three of them are just normal people. They won't be able to keep up with the running you're going to do. Instead of taking the risk of falling behind, it's safer for them to stay here." One looked at Zheng and the other two, he fell silent for a moment.

"And you? Are you staying here also?" eyeing me this time, but before I could reply DJ answered for me "The trainee's with us, Sir" (What a great guy, isn't he just signing my death warrant?)

Jie shrugged his shoulders. "I apologize, but I have gained some of my memory back. These three are my friends so I can't leave them alone. I have to stay here to protect them." as they were letting the flames of comradery burn, I was contemplating my up coming predicament. (As far as I could remember, this mission was about to end and Zheng and the rest will just hole up here and be transported back to gods dimension, oh and they'll be a close call moment right before they leave... but the movie doesn't end there does it, there will be lots of adrenalin pumping race against time and lots of sneaking around to avoid getting eaten by ex-vegan zombies. Just my luck.)

After the long moving moral debate, One fell into silence again. After a while, he said with a dejected tone, "I understand… Kaplan, turn on the defense system for that laser corridor. You guys stay in the Red Queen's room, that's the safest place. Wait there peacefully. If we survive, we will report this situation to the corporation… Don't die."

Jie led Zheng and the others to the Red Queen's room. Then Kaplan turned on the defense system of the corridor. The lights of the corridor lit up again. We could see each other thru the window on the door. The feelings of sympathy was oozing from both parties.

Taking one last glimps at the othe group, I followed the mercs and Alice towards the exit.(Those guys totally forgot that Kaplan will have to shut down the AI later to save Alice and the others.) thinking to myself, now on my end. I need to keep up with the group and be as steathy as a church mouse.

Then we started running, I must have been staring too hard on Alice sweet sweet rear, because when were back at laboratory sector of the hive Rain and DJ were no where in sight. One was consulting Kaplan about the route to take, Matt was looking around probably looking for clues on his sister whereabouts. I was trailing a step behind Alice till, she seem to have this weird episode. Oh! her memories must be coming back, I didn't notice Spence standing infront of a lab window going thru the same episode. looking towards him after I assured Alice was fine, I saw an ominous glint in his eyes, so I called out to him "Yeah! See something you like?! Feel free to keep it. We won't be coming back, you know... Sorry to cut your window shopping short." He just awkwardly smiled at me saying "I got all I need right here, come on let's regroup with others."

I helped Alice back where she was leaning against the lab window. She insisted she was fine so we moved towards the group. Only to hear a nearby crash at an office at the end of the hall. Alice sprang forth so I run after her, arriving at the scene of Matt playing a deadly tag with his zombie sister. Alice was about to help him by putting lead in her but, Matt foolishly brushed her hands away yelling "Don't shoot thats my sister!" Alice stun by the revelation, was racked with guilt. Knowing she was Matt's sister so called contact. Alice didn't see the lunging zombie coming towards her, not standing to find out what happens when the movie's MC dies. I tackled the zombie to the side, while wrestling for the knife I had tucked in my belt. The zombie caught my left arm and gripped it till, it's nails dug thru my skin. At this time, I had unsheath my knife and deliver a stab twice or thrice in its skull wasn't sure. But the damage was done, trying my hardest to endure the burning sensation and the feeling of a thousand ants knawing my arm. I look towards Alice and then Matt, who was now hugging his sister's corpse with a letter openner lodged on her left eye socket.

Alice stood up from consoling Matt, and walk towards me with a pitying look saying "Thank you for saving me, Is there something I could do about your wound?" I cracked a smile and say "The wounds fine it just scratch me but, if your offering a kiss on the cheek would be nice..." still smiling I was grab on the sides on my head kiss on both cheeks by Alice saying "Your such a good kid." It was almost perfect but then she had to call me a kid, I was 29 before all this dammit. Is it too late to go back to Zhengs group 'cause licker bait sound awesome right now...
