"Come in."

She pushed the door open and found Ling Wenfu sitting on the large table reading some documents. He looked up and point toward the couch. "Welcome, Princess. Take a seat."

Ouyang Xueqing spared no time and asked hastily. "Did something happened to him?"

Ling Wenfu sighed. "His brother, Mo Yuting poisoned him."

She gasped in terror. "His brother? How could he?!"

"I told you, Princess. Human are fickle-minded and selfish. Mo Yujian didn't even do anything to obstruct him but he still wanted to get rid of him."

"Then, how is he now?! No, wait, when did this happened? He didn't die, did he?" Ouyang Xueqing gulped nervously. Her mind was buzzing in concern and panic. A bubbling anger building through her veins as she gritted her teeth. Mo Yuting! I will remember you!

"No, calm down. He is fine, at least for now."

Ouyang Xueqing's brows knitted. "What do you mean?"

"From my source of information, the poison was very lethal. It was a kind never seen before that ate a person's vitality slowly before reducing him to skeleton, dried and withered. Even the best physician couldn't guarantee that he would be fine."

She was so shock and terrified that her heart sank to the bottom of the sea.

"He was near death, for sure. But miraculously, he survived."

Ouyang Xueqing's heart hammered in her chest. "He did?"

Ling Wenfu nodded. "It was last midnight that he was supposed to be in the peak of crisis. No one had known how he could purge the poison himself. But he did survived."

"Last midnight…" She muttered.

Her chest pain yesterday, and the weird dream last night…

Could it possibly be related to Mo Yujian somehow? But there couldn't be such a coincidence right? She couldn't have had that kind of telepathy with him right? Even if there was, where did it come from? She only had met him once three years ago.

Haha, it couldn't be for sure. She really had thought too much of it.

Ouyang Xueqing shook her head to clear her mind. "How is he now?"

"Hmm." Ling Wenfu stroked his bushy beard. "I still haven't received enough information. But if he survived such a strong poison, his body must be vulnerable right now."

She clenched her fists unconsciously. "So, you mean that he is in danger now?"

"Should be."

Ouyang Xueqing stared at her hands in silence and contemplated. She had been so worried ever since she heard the news, she hoped that she could go to his side to protect him from any harm. Moreover, it's what she should have done to repay her debt, isn't it?

That's right! She would go to him! She had to go! "Uncle Ling, you will help me right?"

Suddenly Ling Wenfu had an ominous premonition. "I—It depends on what kind of help."

"I want to go!" She blurted out. "I want to go to his side to protect him!"

"No!" Ling Wenfu face palmed. He knew it! He knew someday she would come to him for this! "You can't! What if something happened to you in White Owl country?!"

"Uncle Ling, don't worry." She said solemnly.

Ling Wenfu didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He didn't worry at all! He was scared for his own neck ah! What if something had gone wrong and he was asked to be responsible for it?! He couldn't bear such a huge risk!

"No!" He insisted. "You can't go out."

"If you don't help me, I will go to the protective array myself."

Ling Wenfu choked on his saliva.

"If anything happens, I will tell everyone that you threatened me to do it."

"Y—You—!" Ling Wenfu glared at her in exasperation. He was so infuriated that he almost puked blood. How could he, the underground black market's boss, the feared and respected, be threatened by a mere thirteen years old brat?!

"I will protect myself. We are beast, our body is strong and sturdy. We heal faster. Furthermore, I had my talisman to protect me. Surely, human don't stand a chance against me!"

Ling Wenfu wanted to cry.

How could he get through to her stubborn skull?!

She seemed so determined that nothing could have moved her anymore. "I will take care of my family so that they didn't know. You just have to send me there."

"But…your adulthood ceremony is just one year away. You can't ascend in the human's mainland or our secret will get exposed!"

Ouyang Xueqing nodded. "Okay, I will be back before one year. I promise." She tried to put the most serious expression she could muster. "Really. I swear."

"Okay, okay." Ling Wenfu sighed tiredly and massaged his aching temple. "I will help you, okay?"

"Yes!" Ouyang Xueqing cheered. "When will you send me there?"

He rolled his eyes. "One week. Give me one week."

She whined. "So long."

"You think it's so easy to prepare to cross the array?!" He glared furiously, even his beard trembled with every breath he took.

Ouyang Xueqing grinned and complied. "Okay, one week then!"

"There's something I have to warn you about. It is very, very important." He stressed out every word. "So make sure that you remember it clearly okay?"

"What is so important?"

"First." He raised his forefinger. "Beast in the human mainland could neither speak human language or turned human like us, they could speak between themselves and they could speak to human only if they were contracted. So, if you're there, don't ever let anyone find out that you're a beast."

Ouyang Xueqing's mouth gawked as she nodded. This was indeed important. She didn't know that at all. If she had gone and talk to the beast in her human form, she would surely be suspected.

Ouyang Xueqing gulped.
