Ghost Town 4

A ball of white thing kept bouncing around her feet. The voice indeed came from that. "Here! You can see me now right?"

Ouyang Xueqing was kinda speechless. She felt all her energy seeped out from her body and she slumped down on the ground again. How silly of her to be scared shitless by this furry little thing. She carried the furball on her palm so that it reached her eye. "Who are you?"

The furball kept bouncing. The fur was soft and fluffy and Ouyang Xueqing couldn't help herself but to stroke it. "I should be asking you that! Who are you? Hey, stop touching me, damn it!"

What a grouchy little thing.

She felt herself slowly relaxed. "I am Ouyang Xueqing."

"So?" Somehow, she could hear it mocking her. "Should I know you?"

The corner of her lips twitched. "You really don't know me?" It wasn't exaggerating to say that she was well-known throughout the mainland. There was no one who didn't know her, the only princess of Beast Mainland.

"Who do you think you are? The Princess?"

She nodded earnestly. "Yes."

She felt the furball froze and from out of nowhere, a pair of tiny hands sprang out from the furball as it swept its fur that was supposedly covering its eye. Finally, Ouyang Xueqing could see it clearly. It was such a cute creature with round and black eyes, a pink nose and curling lips that looked like it kept on smiling, but the words spilling from its tiny mouth were nowhere near friendly. "You are the Princess?" It snorted. "Then I am the Emperor!"

The gap on the appearance and the grumpy childish voice was more than what her heart could take. She squeezed its cheek exasperatedly. "Fine, fine." Who told her to be weak toward cute things? "Just call me Xueqing then. Who are you?"

The little furball bounced around in her palm to escape her pinch. "I don't know."

She repeated. "You don't know?"

"Yeah, I have been here since birth. And no one had ever talked to me before."

She felt more and more intrigued. "Why? Do you not go out at all? Then, how do you save me?" Looking at that small and adorable figure, she was doubtful. "Are you really the one that save me?"

"You ungrateful bitch!" It spat out. "Who else if not me?!"

She frowned and flicked its forehead. "Language." It ouched and glared at her. She pretended not to see that. "If no one talk to you before, then who teaches you this foul word, huh?"

"Humph!" Ouyang Xueqing got the impression that it was folding its arms. But those short limbs were so adorable that she couldn't associate her with the one that defeated that malicious creature. "Don't be mad at Xiao Ba. She just wants a friend."

Her mouth twitched. "Xiao Ba?"

"The one that bit you before." It clarified. "Don't worry, she won't do that anymore."

"You…can converse with that creature?" She blinked rapidly.

"Of course. I have known Xiao Ba since she was born. Poor thing, she was swallowed by the bad qi up there. But then, she still stay here to accompany me, she's a good girl."

Ouyang Xueqing couldn't relate the girl that was screeching with worm between her teeth with the word 'good'. Goosebumps formed on her skin.

"They aren't bad, you know. Many people has come to get rid of them, but they are innocent."

Ouyang Xueqing pursed her lips. She knew that those ghost qi originated from the citizens of Ghost Town that had died in vain. She knew that they were innocent. But then, she didn't have any choice. "But if this keeps up, they will affect others."

She was reminded of Ren Yupei. His maniacal state, the red glint on his eyes, and the sorrow evaporated from every inch of his body. She steeled herself. "I have to get rid of the ghost qi, or else, more and more people will be victim just like Xiao Ba." She tried to explain to it because she had the feeling that it was the key to their success. "Can you tell me how you can converse with them?"

It shrugged. "I really don't know. From the beginning, they seemed to fear me and obey my words."

Her eyes brightened up. "So, if you told them to find their path to reincarnation and stop being shackled to this world, they will do it?"

"Maybe." It hummed and snapped back to its senses. "But wait, why should I do it?!"

Ouyang Xueqing pouted. She contemplated for a moment. "Do you said that you have been here since birth?"

"Yes…?" It answered dubiously.

"Great!" She clapped. "If you can grant my wish, then I will take you to see the world outside! Do you not long to taste the fresh air, the tasty food, and moreover, the tasty food?!" She pressed on food twice, because come on, who wasn't tempted by delicious cuisine?

Her temptation seemed to work as she caught the drool hanging on the corner of its mouth. She continued with great vigor. "What do you eat here? Mud? Worms?�� She clicked her tongue. "Well, with me, I can give you meat!"

Its eyes widened. "Meat!"

"Seafood!"

"Seafood!"

"Fresh and cold, tasty juices!"

Drool dripping, its body trembling excitedly at the mention of food that it could only imagined all this time. "I agree!"

She cheered. "I know you are a smart one! Oh, I haven't said it yet." Ouyang Xueqing beamed brightly until her eyes turned crescent. "Thank you very much for saving me, if not maybe I have died now."

"Yeah, true." It turned away, but the tips of its fur turned pink. "You should thank me. Your claws is only an inch from your veins."

So that's the source of blood on her nails. At this moment, they had turned normal though but she didn't doubt it because she saw it with her own eyes how her nails turned sharp before she had lost consciousness.

"Where are we? Is this underground?" She started to explore around. Their voices echoed so she was seventy percent sure that they were underground now. But then, the space they were in was cool and wide, it was kinda unbelievable to think that such a cute creature could dig out this large hole. "How long have I been out?"

"This is my home." Now that they had become friends, it hopped naturally onto her shoulder and settled comfortably there. "You have been here for nearly two days."

"Two days?!" She exclaimed in shock. "Damn it! Zhengnan and Xiaochen must be worried sick about me."

"Oh, are you talking about the boy and girl that came here with you?"

She turned her neck so fast that it was a miracle she didn't get any whiplash. "You know them?!"

"Of course!" It snorted proudly. "I know you all since you stepped onto my territory."

"Where are they now? No, take me to them now!" She wanted to dash out but she realized that she didn't know the way out. "Hey, Furball, show me the way out!"

"W—What?" It was flabbergasted. ��Furball?!"

"Yeah, you are a furball so that's your name. Cute right?"

"NO!" It howled sharply. Ouyang Xueqing grimaced at its voice that was exactly beside her ear. "I don't want such a lame name!" It was so aggrieved ah! Its first name…the precious name is Furball?!

If Ouyang Xueqing said that she was the second most stubborn beast, then no one dared to claim first. "Aih, don't be such a blabbermouth. Are you a girl?"

"I am a male! A boy! A man!" It bounced against her cheeks repeatedly in the act of demonstration. Instead of pain, it felt ticklish and fluffy.

Ouyang Xueqing oh-ed. So, it was a 'he'. She couldn't make it out based on his cute childish voice and that adorable appearance. "Then, act like one!" She berated. "Come on, take me to them, Furball, or else your meat will be confiscated!"

The poor Furball was scammed by the first person he had ever met but didn't have any choice but to comply. Even if he had tons of anger in his belly, the thought of exquisite delicacies was enough to make him obedient.
