“Forgive me, stellina,” I sighed heavily and withdrew my hand. “I did not come here to seduce you.”

“Why are you here?” she asked and backed away from me warily. “How did you get in?”

“I weaved a very romantic tale and the doorman let me in,” I replied with a bashful smile.

“Did you just take a shower?” she asked, finally noticing I was standing in front of her in nothing but a bath towel draped around my waist.

“I did,” I said, smoothing my wet hair back from my face. “If I had known you were on your way I would have waited for you.”

“If this is payback for leaving Camille at your house, it’s not going to work,” she said, draping her jacket over the armrest of the sofa before she sank into it.

“You left that Jezebel at my house?” I regarded her with cool, expressionless eyes though inside I was throttling her delicate neck.
