CHAPTER 12: Training

GREY

It was nighttime. I'm hungry (with my mostly dragonish body, I didn't need to eat that much but the last time I ate was the pancakes from my dad) because Sylvie ate all our meals.

It took an hour to build a shelter. It was made out of multiple wooden sticks that leaned on a tree and were covered with leaves and slept in it. I woke up but it wasn't daytime. It was raining and the wet leaves that laid upon me woke me up.

Timeskip

"Well, you don't look good." I turned around and saw Seris. "Couldn't you tell that it was going to rain that night?"

"I'm sorry for that. I really didn't expect it to rain." I couldn't tell if she was sorry or being sarcastic. "Can we please go back because I'm so hungry that I could eat a horse," I said. Seris placed his hand on my shoulder and activated the tempus warp. It warps the space around us.

For some reason, I could understand the warping of space by a tempus warp. Did anybody else get that feeling too? Sylvie didn't feel like that but it mostly is the lack of intelligence that is blocking this insight. The nauseating feeling hit us as we were suddenly in front of a big mansion.

A path of rich red paver stones led up to the Denoir estate, flanked by thigh-high bushes that were currently blooming with bright blue flowers despite the chill from the mountains. The mansion itself was huge, easily three times the size of the house where I had lived in my past life, and the grounds around it rivaled the yards of the royal palace from my previous life.

Floating light artifacts began to blink to life throughout the gardens as we approached, bathing the grounds in a soft yellow glow. One of the oversized double doors into the estate opened, and a woman in an ash-gray uniform came rushing out, moving quickly to meet us. Her bright orange hair was pulled up in a bun.

"Scythe Seris Vitra!" she said warmly, stopping in front of us and bowing. "And this must be Daron Adamos?" She bowed again. "Welcome to the Denoir estate."

After a few steps, A navy-haired girl shot a glance back over her shoulder, her expression both nervous, disgusted (I'm wet and covered in mud), and curious. "Good Morning Seris. Is this going to be my new training partner?"

"Good morning. I'm Daron from the Adamos blood."

"I'm Ceara from the Denoir blood"

"Sorry for this," I said. "Seris forced me to camp overnight."

"Wasn't it raining that night?"

"Yes," I answered. "Yes, it was."

A few more servants were waiting in the entrance hall. Although most kept their eyes down in a respectful bow, a younger woman glanced a peek only to meet my eyes. From there, we were led to a posh sitting room. Lavish furniture was arrayed in small groupings throughout the large room, which burst with color, and an entire bar ran along the far wall.

I didn't want to sit in case I ruined the furniture.

TIMESKIP

I finally left for my own room and showered after a long talk which I mostly ignored. They gave me a sword and Seris in secret gave me some illusion artifact. This room wasn't that fancy but it looked like a room for a king from the perspective of an average person. Sylvie was already sleeping under the blankets. There was a collar around her neck for her to turn into a cat to hide her true form.

I quickly rushed inside my bed and fell asleep.

Caera Denoir

I was a bit disappointed with my new training partner. Seris always boasted about him but he is 2 years younger than me. Barely 6 years old and in a month, the age gap will extend to 3 years.

We both stood in the grass field while Seris is petting Daron's cat. My wooden sword was in my hands as I stood in my position. His golden eyes observed me, judging me before he positioned into his stance. His sword pointed at me while his right foot was used as his lead foot. Why am I nervous? He's just a 6-year-old.

"3... 2.... 1... Go!" Seris announced.

I rushed at him and I was in reach of him, I retracted my right hand from my sword and tried to punch him in his face. He ducked under it while taking a few steps backward and I swung with my left hand the sword horizontally. He again ducked under it while taking some steps backward.

I was about to reposition myself but Daron's sword came at me. I narrowly dodged his thrust but the wooden sword hit my left cheek. If it was a real sword, a noticeable cut would've been created.

But he didn't stop there. Daron retracted his wooden sword and spun clockwise. He turned on the heels of his right foot and with the momentum created by turning, he attacked with his blade. I didn't have time to duck or sidestep so I blocked his sword. My sword flew out of both of my hands by his monstrous strength.

His sword didn't stop there and hit me full force against the right side of my waist. I dropped to my knees. Did he hit me in the liver? It hurts. It hurts so bad I couldn't even stand up.

That it isn't possible. No 6-year-old can do that. I turned my head to look at him. The tip of his wooden sword was already pressed to my forehead.

"I lost," I said.

A/N: I kinda messed up on how it looks and now I fixed it. Also please rate me this small fight scene.
