TBATE┃The Mistake.

I've heard countless tales of people coming back from the dead, exclaiming- "I saw the light!" Trust me, you ask someone whose experienced something like this, they are more than likely going to say this... I thought it was bullshit, a completely made up myth to get people to believe in an afterlife... So believe me when I found out that those "Myths." Weren't myths at all...

The Leywins...

Darkness.

Thats all I could perceive. My life ended, suddenly and mysteriously. I was... What was I doing? I remember it was my turn to guard the King... And that I had made my way to his throne room, but... Everything after that is blank.

Did I make it?

Did something happen to the King? Maybe, I was caught in a sneak attack... An assassin most likely. Damn it! Such a pitiful way to go down!

THUD!

Huh?

The sounds of footsteps reached my ears... Following it was a wind, a cold, ruthless wind. Next was the sound of breathing, panted breaths, full of fear and anxiousness... Just what is going on? These actions aren't mine, but I'm near...

Wait, I'm dead aren't I? So that's impossible...

"Haah, Haah, where the hell are they!?"

A voice? ...Female too... What's going on?

THUD

THUD

THUD

The steps have gotten heavier... Ah, a light? Argh, it's bright.

The darkness that once encased my sight started fading. In its place, a sun. Or something akin to it. I've seen bright lights before, but this one... This one takes the cake. I hope I didn't get kidnapped by some alien and was brought to some foreign world. That would be next level bullshit.

"You damn... Mistake! Why would they have to go and create you! Ugh... Whatever, lets just get this over with." The females voice held venom, spite for someone... Was it me? But, no. I can't even see yet.

The lights still expanding.

A light the size of a tennis ball laid in my path of sight, it kept growing and growing until eventually... It was gone. And in its place was a bright blue sky, a sea of pure white clouds clear of toxic chemicals.

What a sight to see.

What wasn't a sight to see though, was the supposed lady who owned the hateful voice. Long, blackish pink hair draped her head, some strands falling Infront of her eyes, covering her forehead. Her skin, white as snow and just as spotless.

She covered herself with a black hooded cloak, concealing her face even more. Her shirt was... Black as well. Seems like we have an emo over here...

I tried to see what was in front of me but something seemed to be stunting my movements. I tried and tried but it was all for naught, but it seems my attempts at studying my outside world had disturbed the, Oh so kind lady that was currently running with me in her arms.

"Sit still. We're almost there." Her voice, unlike before held a cold ruthlessness. Emotionless even. Deciding my best choice of action would be to follow her directions, I did as she said. I sat still, or as still as I could be considering the ride was... Quite bumpy.

None the less, I still enjoyed the little run we were on. I'm not one to trust someone I just met, but well... What choice do I have? I don't have anyway of escaping and I'm damn sure not strong enough t-

'What the hell is this...' My thoughts were brought to a screeching halt, my thoughts felt like they were flying at the speed of light.

The cause of all this?

A certain little blob of... Energy sitting in my solar plexus, deep amethyst in color with a black shadow mixed within, getting brighter before dimming once more. It went on like this for a while before I stopped looking, I got kind of bored.

'Seems I really am in a new world... Reincarnation exists? Ha... How marvelous...' I didn't know how to feel about this, and I damn sure don't know what to think about it. At this point, I was more than sure I was dead and something along the lines of reincarnation happened.

But having the facts laid out upon me like this... It felt, overwhelming.

I sat in silence the rest of the run, my thoughts becoming slower and slower as I grew increasingly fatigued just using my brain power.

Another reason I hate this body...

Not a few moments less, my eyes shut. Sending me into the world of dreams...

...

My eyes opened, fluttering but I was forced to open them as I had felt that we had come to a stop. I gazed at everything my position within the womans arms allowed but even then, I didn't catch much of anything.

Though I'm sure I saw a little house? Or something like that. It was made of wood, looked like a cabin. To its right was a forest, a few dozen meters out.

Green grass, a single tree... Some windows. Yeah, that's about it.

I turned my focus back on my great steed and saw that she was panting a little, some sweat could be seen on her face as she caught her breath. I ended up staring for too long and she noticed, catching her attention she looked me dead back in mine.

Her pupils were silver, a shiny pure silver with a single black dot in the middle that was expanding and contracting with every little slip of the evening sun.

Her hardened, emotionless face seemed to have softened a bit before she caught herself, seemingly having an internal battle. It was no place of mine to interfere... Not like I could or want too, but it was interesting.

Shaking her head, she continued on the dirt path that led into the town, her steps light and quiet, the sand beneath her feet barely making a crunch.

KNOCK KNOCK.

My steed knocked on the wooden door of the house I saw earlier, a few moments later. A voice rang out. It was sweet, soft, motherly... Warm.

"Coming! Rey, come get Arthur please! And make sure Fayden's okay!" Her footsteps gaining strength with each passing step. The knob to the door clicked.

Before the door opened, however, my mighty steed placed me on the doorstep.

'What the hell woman!' I shouted internally but no matter, she still left after giving me one more meaningful glance.

'...What kind of technique was that...' The place she was standing before was now empty, her body seemingly disappearing.

CLICK!

The wooden door screeched before coming to a halt, paving a path for a beautiful woman with long, dark auburn hair. Her eyes brown like dirt and her skin white. She wore a yellow dress with a white part at the end of the sleeves and her chest area.

"Who- Huh? Oh my! What are you doing here... Rey! Come quick!" The woman shouted, her motherly gaze softening with confusion and comfort as she picked me up. After her call out, a loud-

"What!?" Resounded through the wooden cabin. Seconds later, heavy footsteps filled the air.

'The husband? Just from the weight of his steps, he must be strong.' I was looking forward to seeing this warrior. Surely he would have plenty scars and long unruly hair...

Oh how wrong I was.

What stood in place of my fantasy was a man with short brown hair with deep blue eyes. A stubby beard on his face as he looked at me curiously, a child with fiery auburn hair, bright sapphire blue eyes in his arms.

The duo looked at me curiously, although the childs eyes seemed to be beaming with matureness uncomparable to the father...

"Who's this, Alice?"
