Last class of the week, wahoo.

The rest of the week flew by without incident. In class on Wednesday my mysterious stranger was no where to be found. Maybe he dropped? It was honestly a relief as the strange way he just stared at me left me feeling unsettled.

Friday I rolled into class in a blur. I was still early just not as early as usually. I had dropped my sweater in a puddle on the way to class and decided against freezing, and went back for a new one.

By the time I got there, the drunks were already seated in the back of the room. Blearily eyed and hung over already from Thirsty Thursday. I walked to my usual seat in the front and froze. There he was.

He didn't look up at my sudden halt and I quickly recovered and took my seat. I got out my notebook and prepared to take notes. I dared a glance out of the corner of my eye at him but he hadn't moved. It was if he didn't even notice I had arrived. The lights dimmed and the professor began her lecture.

As the professor talked about the different layers of the earth and how they influenced the author of an earth poem I suddenly noticed that scent again. It smelled amazing. Immediately I had a flash of the long wooded path in the woods and his wicked grin as wings sprung from him. I let out a quick breath and readjusted myself in my seat. As I moved I noticed out of the corner of my eye him starring at me. I swallowed nervously and pretended not to notice.

I tried to play it cool and keep listening to the lecture but I could feel his eyes boring into me. I was just about to turn and loudly ask if he had a problem when he shifted away and focused back on the professor. I let out a breath I didn't know I had been holding and pretended everything was fine.

When class came to a close I quickly packed up and began to leave. Before I could get far my bag caught on it's own strap, rolled once, and dumped. Right. At. His. Feet. Ug. My stranger stood and addressed me.

"Hello" he said in a low steady voice. "Need a hand?" Before I could answer he bent and neatly piled my things together. Handing the small pile to me he said "my names Damian, you know you should try a backpack instead of a satchel with only one strap, easier to carry."

I lifted an eyebrow at him and replied kurtly "Emmeryn, and no I'm good thanks." I crammed my things back into my freshly rites satchel and then I began to stalk towards the door. Again getting stuck behind the stupid drunkards I huffed and tapped my foot as I waited for them to clear the doorway. Damian calmly walked up behind me and said in a low voice, "I was only watching out for you, I didn't mean to upset your style."

I turned and glared at him, noticing as I did so how tall he was. I looked up into his beautiful green eyes and my snarky reply died in my throat. Noticing my lack of response he gave me a small smile and said "It was an interesting poem today was it not?"

"Yeah" I replied in a quiet voice. What was it about this man that seemed to throw me off my axis so much? Thinking I needed to say something else so it wasn't awkward I quickly said "the satchel was a gift from my father. He died shortly after giving it to me in an accident."

"I'm sorry" he said in a low soft voice looking like he truly felt it.

Ohhh nice going Emmeryn I thought to myself. First you can't think of a reply now your suddenly blabbing you're life story to him. Shuffeling myself awkwardly I noticed the doorway was clear and turned towards it. I had only taken one step however when he fell into step beside me and we exited the lecture hall together.

"Any fun weekend plans" Damian asked?

"Not really" I replied. "You"?

"Not really" he said. Wow great conversation we are having I thought to myself. I internally smacked myself a little though because he was generally trying to be nice to me. I just seem to be incapable at taking to attractive men without getting my automatic sassy pants on. Casting around for something else to say as we walked along I said my roommate is dragging me to some dumb frat party tonight and a big mansion."

"I'm sure it will be an interesting night" he replied. "Parties are usually fun, don't you consider that doing something fun this weekend?" He asked.

"Not for me" I said. I am more of a stay in and watch a tv series kind of person. I gave him my best I am super lame sarcastic smile and he just looked at me questioningly.

"You're very pretty to just spend the night alone in your room Emmeryn"

I starred at him dumbfounded. Me? Pretty? And the way he said my name. Wow. It sounded pretty when he said it. Most of my friends just called me Emm but I hadn't bothered to tell him that much in the lecture hall.

"Uhh thanks" I said lamely. "You can just call me Emm." Giving him another one of my grins.

"Your welcome" he said "and if you don't mind, I like your full name. It's a strong name and seems to fit you well."

Before I could reply to that outrageous comment he turned to leave.

"I hope you enjoy your party tonight. Have a great weekend Emmeryn. I'll see you around."

And with that he was off. His confident stride carried him quickly across the street and around a corner and he was gone. Leaving me standing there completely flabbergasted....
