Chapter 1: A Strange Fruit

Ryo was bored. He had nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon. He had finished all his homework, watched all his favorite anime, and read all his manga. He had no friends to hang out with, no hobbies to pursue, and no goals to achieve. He was just a plain and ordinary college student, living a plain and ordinary life.

He sighed and got up from his bed. He decided to check his fridge, hoping to find something to eat. He opened the door and scanned the shelves. He saw some eggs, some cheese, some milk, and some leftovers. Nothing interesting. He was about to close the door, when something caught his eye. It was a fruit. A strange fruit.

It was round and purple, with green swirls on its surface. It looked like a cross between a grape and a melon. It had a stem and a leaf on top, and a small tag attached to it. Ryo picked it up and read the tag. It said:

"Congratulations! You are the lucky winner of our special prize! This is a rare and exotic fruit from a faraway land. It has a delicious taste and a wonderful aroma. Enjoy it while it lasts!"

Ryo was puzzled. He had no idea where this fruit came from, or how it got into his fridge. He had not entered any contest, or bought any lottery ticket. He had not ordered any delivery, or received any package. He had not visited any market, or met any stranger. He had not done anything out of the ordinary, or anything at all.

He shrugged and decided to ignore the mystery. He was hungry, and the fruit looked appetizing. He figured it was harmless, and maybe even beneficial. He had heard of some fruits that had special properties, such as boosting immunity, enhancing memory, or improving mood. Maybe this fruit had some of those effects. Maybe it would make him smarter, happier, or more attractive. Maybe it would change his life for the better.

He washed the fruit and took a bite. He felt a burst of sweetness and sourness in his mouth. He liked the flavor. He took another bite, and another, and another. He ate the whole fruit, leaving only the stem and the leaf. He felt a warm sensation in his stomach, and a tingling in his head. He smiled and licked his lips. He felt good. He felt great. He felt...

He felt dizzy. He felt nauseous. He felt pain. He felt a surge of energy and a loss of control. He felt his body changing and his mind fading. He felt his world spinning and his vision blurring. He felt his consciousness slipping and his reality shifting. He felt...

He felt nothing.

He blacked out.
