The dragon of the desert brings her judgment

Today I went and asked Lex something since I was wondering.

- Hey Lex.

- What is it?

- Do you have a moment?

- I suppose.

- Then, do dragon lords have something in common from seven deadly sins?

- Yes and no. Yes, some of them were created in a representation of each sin. And no, not all dragon lords have a sin glued to their name and the sins didn't come from the dragon lords.

- Then which dragon lords have the sins?

- Quetzalcoatl is dragon lord of wrath. Kur was dragon lord of envy. Bahamut was dragon lord of sloth. Stoor is dragon lord of gluttony. Fafnir was... is dragon lord of avarice. Tiamat is a dragon lord of lust. The dragon lord of pride was the second dragon lord Kholkikos, but since she died so quickly, Destruction created Akhekh in her place.

- Poor Kholkikos. Was she the one that was forgoten?

- Yes. But don't feel sorry for her. She is current guardian of the afterlife where those blessed by dragon lords end up. The sacret grove of Kolkhis the golden valley.

- I'd love to see that place. It sounds like a paradice.

- It is for those who worship dragon lords. I heard that the giant stone pillars glimer with gold and reach high up in the sky. The sheep there glimer with gold and the grass is as green as it could be. The mountains in the south are filled with trees that hold fruits that taste you can't forget. The whole place is filled with everything that you need for living. Fertail ground for growing food, animals wondering endlessly in the forests, fish swining in the water and waterfall that brings endless supply of water to the valley. There even is some buildings that are build in the giant stone pilars and bridges that across to other pilars. A whole town has been built there.

- Now I want to get there even more.

- Then worship a dragon lord and get their blessing. Then all you need to do is die.

- I mean just to visit there. I don't want to spend rest of my life there.

- Why not? It's a parardice after all.

- I still have stuff to do in the living world.

- If that's what you want.

- How does the each sin surface in the dragon lords?

- Well as you know, Fafnir likes to have everything he sees as valuable. Thats about it for him. Stoor eats everything he wants to. Kur harbored all the powers of each of the dragon lords. Thus he was called dragon lord of envy. Tiamat just has the objective of lusting over dominance over other dragon lords in terms of numbers. She does also change forms to have sex every now and then. She doesn't need to have sex to produce offspring, but has does so anyways. Bahamut was known to only seek power so that he can make other dragon lords fear him enough to the point he didn't have to fight. But of course, he was never the strongest, so he had to work hard for that objective. The reason why he got eaten by stoor is because Bahamut called Stoor a better version of sloth, given how much Stoor sleeps. This angered Stoor so Bahamut was eaten. But not before bahamut did something that made his soul disappear in the last moment.

- Wait, Bahamut wasn't eaten?

- This is supposed to be a secret that no other dragon lord knows. I found out by using my own magic to find him in Hou. There he just "chills" out his days without doing anything. Was there anyone I forgotten? Oh, Quetzalcoatl and Akhekh. Quetzalcoatl is know for his wrath since he puts out some serrious punnishment to those that anger him. He is known by some to be "the angry god of the jungle." He has also known to get easily angered by other dragon lords and giant fights have ensued. Akhekh's pride comes to clarity when you ask her oppinions on other creatures. In her eyes, justice is absolute, and thus, justice will always prevail. She has an eye that can detect karma from people, and if it's bad enough, she will attack without a thought. She has been called tyrant of the desert many times, but since it is commonly believed that Akhekh will only attacks those with viced hearts, her deeds are often seen as justified. She commonly changes forms to that of a humanoid to find viced people. And often when she finds someone on the streets, she just kills off people publicly without remorse. Lately she has gotten a bit more discreet at least.

- I can't immagine what would happen when she met Aktor.

- I don't think Aktor has a bad karma. But if he does, it would be an interesting fight.

- How does Akhekh treat other dragon lords?

- She is often seen to avoid them entirely. Her belief is that if dragon lords fight against each other, the terrain will surely be devestated. But I do believe that she would like to wipe some of the dragon lords out. You have no idea how happy she was when she got an opportunity to kill Kur. Now that Fafnir is back, I'm sure she will be in a bad mood when she finds out.

- I can see that.

- You haven't met her so... well given the explanation that I gave you, you might have the general idea. Anyways, have you gotten used to the sword?

- Oh this? I still have some trouble handling it's effects. But I'm slowly getting better.

- That's good.

- Speaking of the sword, is it really okay for me to leave Fafnir roam around?

- What else you could have done? You would have died if you tried to kill him. You got lucky when he even let you live, let alone take one of his treasures.

- But what will he do now?

- Probably just get more treasures. That's how he always is.

- But when does it end?

- It wont end untill he dies again.

- Why not?

- He wont stop untill everything in the world that he holds some value is his and stays his. He will hasn't probably change and never will change.

- Why does he want everything?

- Because he was born in nothingness.

- You mean in origin?

- Well, you aren't wrong when you say origin is nothingness. It kind of is. But this is other type of nothingness.

- Care to explain?

- *Sigh* Fine, let me give you a lesson. When the world was created, we needed to open a space where the origin's energy wont influence it. Origin, as you know, is also called void by some people. When that space was opened, there formed an empty space and something else. This something else was the primary force that canceled the void energy and kept the "bubble" stable. The something else that came with the empty space was a force that existed withing the empty space. And as things were created in the empty space, so did the something create more power withing itself to keep the "bubble" stable. This something is something we call abyss. Abyss is the non material that is produced by the material. A place where everything that was created created more force to itself to keep the empty space stable. Abyss is a power that distorts and contorts anyone and anything it touches. And by anything, I mean anything. It is the force that we always feel a little, but not enough to make us break.

- Can you go there?

- The abyss is a place you can visit and it houses many types of things in there. How it created things withing itself is a bit of a mystery, but my hypothesis is that it takes a small chucks of things from the material and brings it to it's space. It has created some form of a landscape in it. There is many giant holes that go down in there. The holes have material surrounding their wall to a sertain point in a spiral type fashion. At the start of each hole, there isn't many openings in the walls, but the more you go down, you start to see the walls open and the abyss is open. The age of the holes can be determined by how far down you can go before the walls start to open up. It is not known why these spiral like holes exist, but common theory is that there is some kind of force pushing downwards. And if you go more deeper in the holes you see in there, the more the abyss will corrupt you. Some people try to excavate that place, but since the influence is so great in the deeper parts where the more interesting things reside, none can be excavated easily without major consequences. Besides the immediate holes that you see in the abyss, you can go to the edge of the platform that it has created and jump from the edge downwards. There are more platforms that you can jump across, but if you fall into any of the gaps, you are done for. And you can't even pray that you get to a afterlife. Your body and soul will end up either a monster of the abyss or end up as some blob of materials for someone else to take. If you travel far enough, you might see another hole that spirals into the debts of the abyss. As far as I know, the abyss is as infinite as origin is. The deeper you go, the deeper the corruption.

- Wow. Just wow. Does original powers have any kind of resistance to abyss?

- The original powers are somewhat resistant to the power of the abyss, but take a look at Relse before and after he went inside deep, you'd see a great change in him. Fafnir was created in a very deep part of the abyss. As deep as Destruction was willing to go. With some influence from the origin, Destruction became his normal self. At least mostly. Only Fafnir and Relse know what's in there, And since Fafnir spent so much time in there and far deeper that Relse was willing to go, Fafnir might be the one that went in the deepest.

- What did the abyss do to Fafnir?

- Fafnir was twisted in one way or another. He also has the ability to use abyss power offensively. I don't know how he does it, but I suspect that he either created a portal deep inside the abyss, or that he went so deep that he gained some monstrous powers. The fact that you could bring Fafnir back, even if part of his soul was missing, means that it's corruption runs deep inside his soul. It also means that it's inherently more difficult to kill him. I fear that Fafnir's soul that is inside Stoor has done some serious damage by now.

- Should we tell Stoor?

- He wouldn't listen to me when I tried. Why would he listen to us now?

- I see. Is there anything else I should know about?

- Let's see. There might be a case to be made that Fafnir is somewhat immune to abysses power, but this can't be proven. But if it is true, that means that he can flee as far deep in the abyss as he so wishes and no one can tail him. The Abyss is his main territory and if things get too dangerous, he will flee to there.

- Then why did he die againts Bahamut?

- He either got too careless or he didn't make it in time. He can also command the creatures that are born withing the abyss. Well, calling them creatures is bit too kind. Maybe monsters would be a more proper term. He might be able to summon those monsters as well, but I have never been able to confirm this. As pridefull as he is in his heritage, he will never call himself the king of the abyss. I know this because I suggested this to him once. When I did, he said "I might be the most powerfull creature from the abyss that has reached this place so far. Perhaps there is even more powerfull entity down there that even I don't know of. Because of that, calling myself the king of the abyss would be wrong. Dragon lord of the abyss will suffice."

- So he is scared that there might be something more powerfull than him inside there.

- He thinks of it as possibility. Not a fact. And I doubt that he is scared. He just would accept that entitys rule if it ever came.

- Still, that's a terrifying consept.

- It is.

- You said that people go there to excavate the abyss sometimes. That means that there is a safe way to enter it right?

- If abyss takes you by itself, then it depends on your luck where you end up. And since most of the abyss is empty, you might just fall deep inside it. But if you do it yourself, you can control where you end up. There is some settlements there as well. To get the safe way to get to the abyss, you usually have to buy s scroll that contains the the spell that sends you to the coordinates of the settlement. That or someone has to teach you.

- Is there any place that has taken a heavy interest in the abyss

- I heard that dwarfs have taken a deep interest in the abyss and have created a portal that leads you to one of the settlements. The corrupted, distorted and contorted dwarfs are called graws. Each other creatures that are distorted by the abyss have their each unique name with them. Even if they almost never look the same, they still have some similar tendensies and features. Like graws skin usually gets dark gray and they get a blue glow in their eyes. Often the graws get a bit smaller. Depending on the amount of abysses influence they gotten, some humanoid creatures can still hold a conversation. Though often they are just agressive. There is one person that is classified as graw that lives peacefully in one of the settlements. More of these cases have happened, but they are considered rare. The corrupted elf is called tutton and corrupted human is called pessian.

- Is there a light source in abyss?

- There is a blue and purple halo in the sky that shimers and provides light. It changes it's color every now and then. This is believed to be some cycle that the abyss follows. This is not proven.

- Is there any creatures that you see there commonly?

- One of the monsters that reside there is Jigilathan. A giant worm that has a bonelike armor around them Once it opens it's six jaws, it can swallow a small building whole. They are wery weak to heat, so they don't usually come near the settlements that creates heat. In one of the holes, there was found to be a giant spider that works as the end of that hole. It is so massive and has so good defence, it is able to fend of almost everyone. No one has ventured deeper in that hole than the point that spider Gululu stays. It is the only hole found that has some sort of end, even if it's not the real end. There roam eight legged canine beasts that can climb up and down the holes. No one is sure how they do it so effortlessly, but common theory is that they have gained some kind of magical ability while they were mutated from the abyss's power. They move in pacts and can be quite devestating for the miners there. There are little bunnies that are about the size of human fist. They eat the vegetation that is in some of the platforms. The way they move is something else. They somehow can become weightless and jump to a one platform to another. They can also control the extent of their abilities. These bunnies are the most numerous creature in the abyss and are quite harmless to those who don't plan attacking too many of them. They are cute according to some people and you can train them to be pets. But if you attack too many of the rarits in the herd, they will attack together and eat you alive. They are also called rarits. There are some variety of flying creatures as well in there that aren't all birds. For example, there is one eyed fish that somehow has gained winglike fins and flies across the abyss. There is a whole ecosystem in each of the holes, so the amount of life you see there can be little bit surprising. And yes, there is water in there as well, but woundn't drink it if myself. Just to be safe.

- That's facinating. Perhaps I should visit the place one day.

- Personaly I think it would be of your self interest to not go there. But then again, it's your choice to make. What are you planning to do now? Keep living the normal life like you have for a while?

- Let's see... Perhaps I shoul visit all the dragon lords. Starting with Akhekh.

- And why are you seeing all of them?

- Perhaps I could become the dragon hero or something.

- That's quite a hurdle you are up against. Fine, I will send you somewhere in Hiék. How do you plan to find the first one? She might be one of the harder ones to find.

- That's... a good question. Any ideas?

- Let's see... Hmph...

He closes his eyes and smiles. Then opens his eyes back again and says.

- I think you can just wonder around. Let her find you.

- And why would she had any reason to target me?

- Two reasons. One of which is something that will come as a big surprise for her when she finds out.

- Why can't you tell me?

- I just think it will be more interesting this way. Don't worry. She will ask you the questions that will make you understand. Oh, just know that you will need all of the existing dragon lords blessings. Not just the sins ones. You can take out Kur and Bahamut since they are considered dead.

- What about Fafnir?

- You will need that one too if you want to become the dragon hero.

- Great. Then, will you sent me?

- With pleasure. I just hope she is in a relative good mood when she sees you. If not, well, then it's goodbye for good.

- Wait what?!

And suddenly I'm in a alley of a desert town and I'm a bit confused. What did he mean goodbye for good?! Am I going to die?!

After a while I calmed down and I began my journey to find this elusive dragon lord. I walked around town, asking about Akhekh. Most of the people just told me to go somewhere else if I want to see her. After couple of days of searching, I give up on this town and leave for the next. I ask for directions and then I use Rin to fly around. I can't risk Bell to run in this heat.

Once I was on the other town, same as last one. No one told anything helpfull to me for couple of days. Then I went to the next town.

And the next.

And the next.

And the next.

Next I decided to go on a city that was far west. It was called Luetos. Since I was close by, I thought that it wouldn't hurt to go there. There I asked around with no results again.

Then in the night when I was in a inn sleeping. A figure came to my bed with a hood on his face and a sickle like blade in my throat. The he started to speak in a quiet voice.

- Who are you?

It was a woman's voice.

- I should be asking...

- Answer or die.

- ... My name is Nor.

- Nor... Nor who?

- Just Nor.

- ...

- ...

- Why do you have it?

- What?

- Don't play dumb with me. Why do you have it?

- I don't...

She put the blade even closer to my throat. I started to bleed a little.

- Look, I really don't know what you are on about.

- ...

- ...

- Why do you have a blessing of a long dead dragon lord?

- Dragon lord's blessing? I only have met Fafnir... Oh no... no he did not do that.

- It seems you were unaware. How did you got it.

- It must be when I helped him resurrect.

- You did what?!

- I was under his control. I had no choice.

- How on earth did he got you under his control.

- I used my skill to make my soul appear like his and in the progress he took control over my body when I was on his treasury.

- You...

- ...

- You don't seem to be lying. Then why do you have both good and bad karma on you. Usually it's one or the other.

- It must be because my dual personality.

- Your dual personality?

- Yes. I got it when my head tried to suppress the horrible things I did when I was in a mind control.

- ...

- ...

- You don't appear to be lying again. Then which persona am I talking to?

- You wont believe me, but either way it's the good persona.

- ...

- ...

- You speak the truth. Then...

She takes the blade off my throat and get off of me. Then she took her hood of and I saw that she had a dark skin with a goldwhite short hair. I also noticed that she had gold colored eyes and a scaly tail with goldwhite feathers in the end of her tail. She started to speak with more pleasant voice.

- My apologies. I just had to make sure I understood the situation. My name is...

- Akhekh I presume.

- Oh. You are correct, but I wasn't planning on introducing me as such.

- Only one person I know has the ability to see other people's karma.

- That is untrue. I can give this ability to others I wish to have it. Some of my followers have that ability as well.

- Well, today I learned something new. You are dragon lord of pride and you pride yourself with unquestioned justice.

- You have some information that not many posses. May I know who told you?

- The original power of magic.

- I see.

- Just out of curiosity. Do you have any affiliation with the organisation called The Fallen?

- The Fallen you say. Yes I have some connection with them. In fact, I'm one of their benefactors. I use all the money I get from the criminals to their owners first, but if I'm unable to do so, I give it to the organisation. Well, most of the time. How do you know about them?

- I have a friend who is inside that organisation.

- I see.

- Then I have one guestion before I ask you the thing I'm here for.

- Okay. What is it?

- How do you deal with things that aren't as black and white?

- Hmm... Good guestion. In my youth I would have answered that all my judgments are just, but now I can tell that not all of them are just. When I see a person now who has bad karma I consider "did they really have a choice?" Even in cases when crimes have been done for the sake of the good, while the karma would show it to some extent, I sometimes have to make my own judgment based on what I see. But still, when I see a person with a bad enough karma, I will become the executioner. So, are you satisfied with my answer?

- I think you have had time to think this over many times, so I think you gave a good answer.

- That's good to hear. Well then, if there isn't anything else to talk about.

She starts to go towards the window, as if to leave.

- Wait.

- What is it?

- I've been searching for you for a very particular reason.

- Oh, what is it then, I wonder?

- How can I get your blessing?

- So you are doing that, huh. You know, it's been far too long since anyone succeeded on becoming the dragon hero. So why should I give it to you?

- That's why I'm asking you.

- Hmm...

She looks at the window for a second. Then she closes her eyes and smiles for a second. Then she looks back at me and says.

- Well then, let's start by sleeping together.

- ... What?

She grabs me and puts me to bed. Then she jumps and get's besides me. She hugs me and wings with goldwhite feathers cover me.

- Why... Why are we doing this?

- We dragons like to sleep together. It is something we do out of instinct. When we do, we can dream the same dreams and we bond together. And since I'm a dragon lord, it should be a great honor to you to join me. Now sleep.

I suddenly feel a warm feeling and I start to feel more and more tired. I didn't think that I was this tired when we talke just now. Did she do something to me? But in any case... This feels to comfortable. I think I will just...

The next morning I wake up in a woman screeming. I get up immediately and I see the innkeeper standing there.

- What is it?!

- Dra...

- Dra?

- Dragon lord Akhekh.

I look and I still see Akhekh with her wings out. She is slowly getting up. She has a bit of a morning voice when she speaks.

- What's all this noice?

- Lord Akhekh. Pleace excuse my rudeness. I'm sorry for waking you up.

- Huh... Oh I see... No need to worry, I'm "Yawn" just here to check on something.

She makes her wings disappear and starts to womble about looking for her hood.

- Then, if you excuse me.

The innkeeper leaves.

- Ah, here it is.

She picks her hood and starts to put it on.

- You had some pretty interesting dreams.

- I did? I don't remember any of them.

- No need to worry. It's quite common. Now then, let's go.

She starts to leave via the window, but I tell her.

- Let's just leave normaly.

- If you insist.

We then get out of the in with couple of startes from the staff. We then start to wonder around. I ask.

- So what are we going to do?

- We are going for a patrol.

- I see.

We walk for a while and Akhekh stops couple of people to question them. One of them tried to escape, but we got him quickly. We later put some people in prison. The day was almost over when we heard a scream from somewhere. We ran towards the scene and saw a man holding a woman hostage by puting his knife on her throat.

- Don't you move! Don't any of you dare to move!

We stay put and I wonder what will Akhekh do.

- Now each of you put your money in the bag!

Some people start to do so. Why isn't Akhekh doing anything? I've seen her speed and she could easily disarm that person without harming the hostage.

- Come on! You too!

Is she testing me? If that's the case, I must do something. Opening a portal behind him is a bit risky if he finds out. He is up against a wall after all. Just running in head on would be also risky. What to do?

- Do you hear me?! Put the money in the bag!

I got it.

- Rin, get bigger.

Rin does just that and grows to the size of a small house. The man is confused, so I use this opportunity to get close to him and disarm him. The woman got a bit of a scratch on her throat, but other than that, she was completely fine. I push the criminal down and cast binding spell. The situation has now calmed down. I order Rin to shrink to the usual size.

Akhekh comes closer and asks me.

- Was that the best you can do?

- I was confident enough with my speed when the people were surprised. I couldn't have done much better.

- Is that so.

She looks at me for a while with a sharp look.

- Good job. Glad you could handle this.

- So you were testing me.

- Of course I was. Now then.

She looks at the man for a moment and says.

- He is a recent drug addict. He hasn't had his stuff and feels agitated as a result. He was most likely going to use the lux here to get his fix.

- How can you tell?

- He has very low bad karma. Meaning that he hasn't done anything too bad before this point. All the bad karma he has came from this moment. Also he is twitching like a addict.

- Then what should we do?

- What do you think?

- I think he should be sent to prison and have him medically evaluated.

- Agreed.

Then some guard comes and takes the man away. The guard put a rope around the man and I canseled my binding. Before the guard leaves, Akhekh tell him what we think should be done. She even pointed out her eyes for some reason. Then the guard leaves with the man.

- Now then, I think we should head off.

- Head off to where?

- To hunt the drugdealers down.

- Do you have any idea where they might be?

- I have a good sense in these types of things.

We then spend rest of the day hunting the local drugdealers and the whole organisation that is making the drugs. It took couple of days, but we somehow managed destroy the local crime syndicate. I barely got any sleep so I was super tired.

We then went to sleep in the same bed again and I felt like I could melt. I felt like we did something else as well, but I had hard time remembering.

The next morning I woke up alone and I saw a letter on the cabinet. It said.

"Dear Nor. It was a pleasure doing work with you. You did as good as I would expect mortal to do. Maybe even better. But for our own sake, I must leave you for now. Don't worry about the blessing, I gave it to you last night. Along the ability to detect karma. Make good use of it and bring justice to this world. I have great expectations for you.

Ps. You were good in bed. Even if you were that tired, you did amazing. I have judged you to have great genes withing you. That is why I made this choice. Oh, and we dragon lords are pretty fertail, so be prepared to have couple of dragonewt babies in couple of month. We dragon lords pop them out pretty quickly. They also grow up as fast as insect folk do thanks to me being a dragon lord, so expect couple of dragonewt people calling you dad in few years.

Pss. I also know of your connection to Soul. And I met up with Ron in your dreams. Best of luck."

I was speechless. What did I just read. I had sex? It looks like I did it willingly, but was I so tired that I can't remember it clearly? I didn't even blame it on alcohole since I didn't drink any. I only remember a warm good feeling. Don't tell me that was it. I don't know how I feel about this. If it was willingly done, then I suppose it's okay. But damn I would like to remember it more clearly. But still, it is good to hear that I was, apparently, good in bed. Go me I guess.

On the other hand, I'm glad that I got her blessing. I wished that I she could have told me some tips for the other dragon lords. Now it's time for some other one. Perhaps I should do Stoor next, since I know where he is. But what to do with him? He might get annoyed and try to eat me. I must prepare a feast for him. And to a person that sized, it will mean I have to hunt a lot.

So I asked Lex if it was a good idea. He confirmed that it was the best idea that I can feasibly do. So I went hunting. I put all of the meat I could gather in a freezer so that they would stay fresh. I mean, my subspace would also do it, but I don't have as nearly as much space to keep all that stuff that I plan to hunt.

I hunted giant lizards, birds, wolfs, even few dragons and some insects. I have gathered tens of tons of meat for Stoor, so I hope this will be enough. Lex helped me to take them where Stoor's mouth is and we tried to wake him up. It took couple of tries, but then we saw the giant dragon rise up from his long slumber and presented us with his enormous posture. He then spoke in a slow and very deep voice.

- Who are to dare to wake me from my slumber?

- My name is Nor and I wished to present you with these offerings.

Lex puts out all the food I have gathered.

- Hmmm...

He then told us to move, so we did. And then we saw him swallow all that meat in few bites.

- Hmmm... Exelent offerings. It is not often that I have to take multiple bites. You have done well little one. I presume that you are after my blessing, yes?

- That is correct.

- Well then.

He does something and I feel weird in my insides.

- Now you have my blessing. But before I go back to sleep, I must ask you. How do you have Fafnir's blessing?

- I helped him resurrect. Not by choice mind you.

- Hmmm... So that one is now roaming with most of his soul missing. He must be after me now so I must stay vigilant. In any case, I will go back to my slumber. Farewell my little champion.

He then goes to the same place where he was when he slept before. Then there is no movement after that. Like he has become stone. Lex then tells me.

- Congratulation. Now you have Stoor's blessing.

- Now that I think about it, when I got a blessing fron Akhekh, I got the ability of sensing karma. Stoor had an awfull karma by the way. So does that mean that I get some abilities from the other dragon lords?

- That is correct.

- Then what does the blessings from Stoor and Fafnir do?

- Fafnir's blessing gives you more power the more wealthy you are. Stoor's blessing allows you to get nourishment from anything you eat. On top of Stoor's blessing, you can now overeat yourself without consequences. You will just get to go longer without eating. Same applies for drinking.

- How does Fafnir's ability work exactly?

- First is what kind of equipment you wear. Then your ability keeps count on how much value everything you own has via magic. How it is determined is a mystery even I don't know. The unit's of measurment is also a mystery.

- Well, if Fafnir has that type of ability himself, he must be pretty powerfull even without most of his soul.

- That is only when you speak with the ability in mind. If he had most of his soul back, he would be much, much stronger.
