Convincing Shen Hong

Shen Fei had a disdainful sneer on his face as he observed his brother entering the main hall.

"Take a seat next to Fei," Shen Hong coolly spoke.

Alan did as he was told and sat next to Shen Fei with a composed look on his face.

"Fei mentioned that you created a huge scene in the library today. His fiancé seems to be involved with you. Give me your side of the events," Shen Hong spoke.

Shen Fei frowned upon hearing those words and spoke in protest, "But father, I already told you everything. You just have to punis-"

"Silence!" Shen Hong bellowed as his voice resounded within the hall.

"You are in no position to teach me what I should do or shouldn't do!" Shen Hong added with his thunderous voice.

Alan didn't seem surprised. He had expected Shen Hong to listen to his side.

"Father, there is nothing much to explain. While attending classes and exchanging conversations, my relationship with Xiao Ning'er has improved greatly. She has even confessed that she loves me. And I admit, I do have feelings for her," Alan calmly spoke.

"She is engaged to your brother. How can you allow such thoughts to enter your mind!" Shen Hong spoke.

"Xiao Ning'er is actively protesting against this engagement because, as you know, my elder brother's character isn't exactly ideal. In the middle of this phase, Xiao Ning'er fell in love with me. Well, we can still salvage the situation since it's me that she fell in love with. Imagine what would have happened if Xiao Ning'er fell in some with someone else."

Alan further stated, "Imagine if the news spread that Xiao Ning'er was utterly disregarding the Sacred Family and going out with a commoner. Even if we forced her to marry to this family, the Sacred Family would still have lost reputation."

Shen Hong actually fell into deep thought as he believed Alan brought up some interesting points. He was aware of these points, but he never expected to hear them from his son's mouth.

This stated that his son had changed for the better! He had finally matured a bit and was thinking in the direction that Shen Hong wanted.

"You are right," Shen Hong spoke.

Shen Fei's eyes widened with utter disbelief. His father was actually siding with his brother!

Shen Hong noticed his elder son's reactions and snorted, "If your personality were all right, I could have pushed this engagement despite this incident. But unfortunately, your playboy tendencies were the reasons the situation deteriorated to this extent! I won't deny you to seek pleasure but keep it discreet! The Sacred Family has an image to maintain!"

Alan stared in Shen Fei's direction and gave him a disdainful smile. Shen Fei instantly got furious about seeing that smirk, but he held all his anger inside as he couldn't make a move in front of their father.

Meanwhile, Shen Hong stared in Alan's direction, "I will break his engagement with Xiao Ning'er and send another proposal to the Winged Dragon Family regarding the union of our families through yours and Xiao Ning'er's marriage."

"That would be ideal. With me, at least she won't fall in love with another man," Alan spoke, his words provoking Shen Fei again.

"…Enough! You are not allowed to provoke your brother again. I don't want such an incident to occur again," Shen Hong commanded.

Alan casually nodded. He wasn't planning to go against Shen Hong just yet.

Shen Hong was merely a 5 Star Black Gold Demon Spiritualist. Alan was sure of his victory if he fought Shen Hong at this moment. He wanted to keep his power a secret from everyone.

He wanted to slowly grind and get stronger. This cultivation could act as a trump card that might save his life.

Alan left nearly 60,000 points and wasn't in a hurry to utilize them. The trip to Emperor Kong Ming's tomb told him that he wasn't the strongest in the world. Even an inscription pattern set up hundreds of years ago could cause Alan to utilize 10,000 Celestial Points.

After some time, Alan and Shen Fei left the main hall. Shen Fei was in a foul mood as the conversation in the main hall troubled him greatly. He was worried that his position as the future family head of the Sacred Family was no longer stable!

Alan spoke to Shen Hong, "I think you should halt before announcing my engagement with Xiao Ning'er."

"…So you want me to break Fei and Xiao Ning'er's engagement but not immediately engage you to that girl. You better have a good reason for that," Shen Hong spoke.

"I do. This is because I am remarkably close to Ye Ziyun. If she knows of my engagement with Xiao Ning'er, she might stop contacting me. This wouldn't be good for the family," Alan explained.

"I see. You are indeed right about that. It would be good for the family if you can ensnare that woman. We can't let her slip through her fingers," Shen Hong spoke seriously.

"…Very well. I won't immediately announce your engagement to Xiao Ning'er," Shen Hong finally spoke.

Alan was happy that he had accomplished this objective and turned around. However, Shen Hong spoke up at this moment, "If I do this, I will simply be announcing to the world that the Sacred Family is breaking the engagement with the Winged Dragon Family. I hope that wasn't your objective in telling me about your and Ye Ziyun's relationship."

"Naturally not," Alan lied as easily as he breathed. He then turned his head before leaving the main hall quickly. Shen Hong caught onto his objective.

What Alan had no idea was that Nie Li was actually using the Alchemy Association to meet the City Lord and was conducting a secret deal with him!
