The Fall of the Sacred Family

Many hours passed by, as the battle against the demon beast horde continued. The leading Black Gold demon beast unlocked its spiritual wisdom and tried all kinds of tricks, but they were thwarted by Nie Li.

Eventually the Black Gold demon beasts lost patience and started to rush at the wall. They jumped over it and landed inside the city wreaking much havoc. The Black Gold rank experts immediately jumped into action, with Ye Zong fighting the demon beast leader.

Soon the Black Gold rank demon beasts were mostly killed, with the few survivors escaping with the rest of the horde back to where they came from. The whole city started celebrating the victory, with most credit going to Nie Li.

Two days later the City Lord summoned all of the experts to attend a banquet and discuss the demon beast horde. Hong Yue Xian waited for the time when Shen Hong and the rest left for the banquet and snuck into the Sacred Family Treasury. The Sacred Family was truly a Major Family. Hong Yue Xian was only able to take away 4/5 of the treasures, before all his specially prepared storage rings ran out of space. He could only chuckle at himself being too greedy, before sneaking out and going to the banquet.

Once there he saw Nie Li, Ye Xiu and Ye Shuo chatting on the seats of honour. Hong Yue Xian saw Huyan Lanruo and she nodded in understanding. Then Hong Yue Xian walked to the table of Xiao Ning'er and her family. As he walked he glanced at the Sacred Family table and saw Shen Xiu. The latter gave him a glance similar to Huyan Lanruo, all was going to plan and they were ready.

As Xiao Ning'er saw Hong Yue Xian approach she stood up and greeted him, causing the rest of the Winged Dragon Family to stare at him. Hong Yue Xian greeted Xiao Ning'er, before gretting her father, Xiao Yunfeng.

"Greeting Patriarch Xiao, it is an honour and a pleasure to meet you. I am very good friends with Ning'er and heard many good things about the Winged Dragon Family." Said Hong Yue Xian, while cupping his hands.

"It is nice to meet you nephew Xian, I heard a lot of good things about you as well." Laughed Xiao Yunfeng as he glanced at his daughter.

"Actually, Patriarch Xiao, I wanted to discuss with you about Ning'er. Specifically her engagement." Said Hong Yue Xian smiling, causing Ning'er to blush and to pull his robes in shyness. Xiao Yunfeng was surprised but then he remembered the rumours and saw his smitten daughter, realising what Hong Yue Xian wished to talk about. Still he put on a gentle expression as he asked. "What exactly did Nephew wish to discuss?"

"I wanted to sign an engagement contract with the Winged Dragon Family between Ning'er and myself." Stated Hong Yue Xian, causing Xiao Ning'er to panic. She bit her lip as her eyes filled with hesitation and anticipation. The statement also shocked the rest of the Winged Dragon Family. Xiao Yunfeng somewhat expected it so he kept his composure, though the first one to speak was not him but one of the elders named Xiao Yi.

"Xiao Ning'er is already engaged to Shen Fei and the Sacred Family. Have you forgotten? Plus what makes you think you are worthy of niece Ning'er. She is already a Gold rank Demon Spiritualist." Snorted Xiao Yi in disdain, causing Xiao Ning'er to flare up in anger. If not for Hong Yue Xian patting her shoulder she would have torn her uncle to pieces.

"I know about Ning'er's engagement with Shen Fei of the Sacred Family, but it will become null after tonight. So you don't have to worry about it. So is the Winged Dragon Family willing to sign the agreement?" Said Hong Yue Xian dismissively, but his words petrified the whole table.

"Nephew's meaning is?" Inquired Xiao Yunfeng hesitantly.

"Do not tell others, but the City Lord is planning to move against the Sacred Family tonight. Tomorrow there will be no Sacred Family. As for why, the Sacred Family colluded with the Dark Guild. Remember to keep it to yourself. Now about the engagement. Do I have your approval? Of course I will have my father pay you an official visit for it, but I wanted to hear your thoughts first."

The Winged Dragon Family members were all still shocked at the earthshaking news. Xaio Yunfeng thought about it, before turning to look at his daughter. "Ning'er, would you like to be engaged to Hong Yue Xian?"

Xiao Ning'er was really flustered and could not look others in the eye, but she gathered her courage, quickly glanced at the Hong Yue Xian, who was smiling at her encouragingly, and turned to her father. "Yes father, I want to be with Xian." After she said that she walked closer to Hong Yue Xian and grabbed his hand.

"Very well, then the Winged Dragon Family approves of your engagement. I will await your father's visit to settle the issues and sign the contract." Said Xiao Yunfeng with a sigh.

Hong Yue Xian embraced Xiao Ning'er's willow waist and gave her a kiss on the cheek before whispering in her ear. "Soon you will be my fiancée and then my wife, so be careful when the fighting starts later. I will need to do something so don't look for me, ok?" "Umm. I will." Came a reply as quiet as a mosquito.

With that the banquet kept going until Shen Hong started to suspect foul play. He began spouting nonsense, in answer to which Nie Li brought out Shen Ming and Deacon Yun Hua. The rest went as expected and the Sacred Family tried to leave, with the Snow Wind, Divine and Huyan Families trying to stop them. What surprised everyone was that Hong Yue Family joined in attacking the Sacred Family as well.

As soon as the battle started, Hong Yue Xian moved with unprecedented speed and met up with Shen Xiu before leading her out of the hall. Once outside he told her to go to a safe place, that he prepared. Once he was sure Shen Xiu escaped safely, Hong Yue Xian returned and rejoined the battle.

The fight was rather intense but the Sacred Family was still pushed back. Shen Hong was kept busy by Duan Jian in the air. Once the Sacred Family higher ups became desperate they used the Dark Guild techniques, causing the rest of the Families to attack them. Then Ye Xiu activated the Snow Wind Spiritual God. As the battle was almost over the Dark Guild intervened, forcing the just arrived Ye Zong to break through to Legend rank and fight back. Ending with Nie Li using the Ten Thousand Beast Array to scare them off. Thus, with the first rays of dawn, the Sacred Family was no more.
