The Demon Beast Horde

By the time Hong Yue Xian arrived at the southern wall, it was already full of soldiers. The higher ups were standing on the top peering at the demon beasts approaching from far away. In front of the wall Nie Li and hundreds of soldiers could be seen digging pits and trenches and filling them up with liquid. Hong Yue Xian approached the place where the Black Gold ranks gathered and found Ye Ziyun and Xiao Ning'er there.

Soon the dawn came and so did the demon beast horde. Thanks to Nie Li's ingenious traps the demon beasts were being roasted by flames. Though eventually the demon beasts started to approach the city wall. That was when a caravan arrived at the wall. A tall middle aged man led thirty subordinates and paid respects to the City Lord.

"Greetings City Lord. My name is Huo Long and I am here on behalf of the Immortal Wine Merchant House to contribute to the defence of Glory City. I myself am a 3 star Black Gold rank, while my men are all Gold rank. Please use us as you see fit. Also please accept the wagons as a gift. Inside you will find all the red oil we had." Said Huo Long as he gestured to his men and the caravan.

Ye Zong and other Black Gold ranks experts were surprised. They heard about the Immortal Wine Merchant House before but did not think it had such experts. Still the City Lord did not lose his lordly demeanour and thanked Huo Long before assigning them a place on the wall. After the latter left with his men, Ye Zong turned to Ye Xiu and began discussing.

"Ye Xiu, have there been any progress on investigating this Immortal Wine Merchant House? I don't like to have unknown variables in my city."

"City Lord, apologies but we do not know much. No matter who we ask they either don't know or refuse to speak." Said Ye Xiu in exasperation.

"Father-in-law, uncle Xiu, what is known about that Merchant House?" Inquired Nie Li with a pondering expression.

"Nephew Nie Li, the Immortal Wine Merchant House was established more than two years ago. Apparently, there were three main wine making merchants in Glory City, however, one of them had issues with his business, so he sold it. Later that business renamed itself as the Immortal Wine Merchant House and started introducing new kinds of wines and spirits. Moreover they were of much better quality and taste, the variety was also great. Shortly after they started doing business, their products became popular, and in a year the Immortal Wine Merchant House became number one in Glory City, buying restaurants, inns, fruit farms, etc."

"Recently the other two wine making merchants could not take it anymore and sold their businesses to the Merchant House, making it the only wine maker of Glory City. And now it seems to have hired a lot of experts. But to think they had a Black Gold rank." Sighed Ye Xiu as he explained.

"I would really like to know who is the one in charge, but so far we found nothing. I don't like it. He might be a threat to the city." Snorted Ye Zong in disapproval.

"Perhaps him sending help now is a friendly gesture? Still it would be better to investigate more thoroughly. I can ask Ancestor Ye Yan about it." Said Nie Li with interest, but the demon beasts had finally reached the walls so he went to direct the soldiers.

Hong Yue Xian stood nearby as he listened and laughed inside. In the past month he had found and hired more than 200 Silver rank Demon Spiritualists in the name of the Immortal Wine Merchant House. Those he found decent and trustworthy were given Gold rank essence pellets, resulting in 100 Gold rank experts. Out of those he chose the cream of the crop, and gave the 25 elites Black Gold essence pellets.

Huo Long just now was one of the 25. As for the men they were those with least battle experience, so Hong Yue Xian instructed them to participate in the defence. If the City Lord and the rest knew that the mysterious owner of the Immortal Wine Merchant House was a 13 years old boy and standing right next to them, their faces would certainly make quite a sight.

The Gold rank demon beasts began to attack the wall and everyone joined the fray. Suddenly, Nie Li stopped in the middle of a battle and was attacked by demon beasts from all sides, before being saved by Ye Ziyun. She created an ice wall and tried to hold the beasts back, while Nie Li sat in meditation. Xiao Ning'er saw Ye Ziyun in trouble and rushed to help, when a giant lizard demon beast attacked Ye Ziyun. She managed to wound it but was sent flying by its claw, before hitting he wall and coughing up blood.

Xiao Ning'er saw her friend injured and summoned lightning to strike the demon beast, killing it in the process. She tried to protect both Ye Ziyun and Nie Li but there were too many demon beasts. Soon she was surrounded on all sides and saw the beasts about to attack her. Just when she thought that was the end, a demon beast came flying from afar and knocked half of them off the wall, followed by another one sending the rest the same way.

Xiao Ning'er looked on in shock as she was saved by Hong Yue Xian who rushed up to her and checked her condition. Seeing she was fine, he moved to Ye Ziyun giving her some pills. Moments later Nie Li woke up, and seeing Ye Ziyun like that made him furious.

Hong Yue Xian asked Xiao Ning'er to take Ye Ziyun back to the City Lord's Mansion for treatment and leave the demon beasts to Nie Li and him. For the rest of the day Nie Li turned into a ruthless killing machine as he killed beasts with a passion.
