Tales of Asura (FF Version)

So I keep making stories that I keep dropping, rewriting, or putting on hiatus forever. And that is partially my fault. So now I am making this my own Skeleton Crew or One Thousand and One Arabian Nights or Black Mirror. Oh yeah, it is called an anthology. A collection of short stories and one-shots. This is the fanfiction one and there is also an original story one. If you enjoy the stories and want longer versions, comment. I just might make it happen. But don't expect anything longer than 20 chapters unless I get really inspired.

Chapter 3: Easy or Hard Way

Virgil walked inside of the guild as if he had been there a thousand times. His appearance also did not draw the eyes of anyone. There were many human-like species that populated the galaxy so his race and gear did not make any waves. At most, some thought that he was a person that didn't usually come around Coruscant.

Virgil walked up to the counter and noticed that the creature behind it was a female Orusian. They were a species of beetle-like humanoids that looked very similar to several other races if one was not familiar with their distinguishing features. Gender was even harder to tell.

( This symbol {} means that they are talking in a rare foreign language. If more than 5 people in the room are likely to speak the language, I won't put it there.)

{Hello, miss. I am here to get a membership to the guild as well as find a bounty within my skill level,} Virgil said in perfect orusi.

Surprised that the creature before her knew her race, gender, and could even speak her language fluently, the receptionist was too confused to say anything for a moment. When she recovered, she gave the most polite 'smile' she could muster.

{Oh, you speak orusi? That is excellent. I usually have to speak in common which is so difficult on the mandibles.

But enough about me. I can help you with both of your tasks. If you let me scan one of your watches, I will upload the guild member app on them where you can set up your profile.

Your profile will contain the name you upload to it, your image, and the missions you have accomplished or failed. This will ensure your success rate and authenticity to clients.

You will have to go over to the wall on the right over there to get scan bounties after you set up your profile. You will only be able to scan up to 5 active bounties at once.

There are rankings under each of the bounties. They are star, planet, and moon. Each ranking goes between one and five.

Star ranking is who wants them dead or hunted. A single star could be placed by anyone while 3 stars in an official organization. 5 stars are usually reserved for rulers or leaders of powerful organizations. Very rarely will you get 2 or 4 stars but stars are usually to tell someone how reliable the client is.

Planet ranking is how dangerous the person is. A single planet means that most will be able to take them out with a fair amount of difficulty, 2 means they have former training or are a dangerous race, 3 means it is a group, 4 planets means that individual has unique abilities, and 5 is usually for entire organizations or individuals capable of taking on entire armies by themselves. We do this to make sure our hunters are properly prepared.

Lastly is the moon ranking. This determines how much you get paid. 1 moon is up to 1,000 credits, 2 moons are 10,000 credits, 3 moons are 100K, 4 moons means up to one billion credits, while 5 moons are anything more than that.

The moon ranking is usually the average of the star and planet ranking but can be higher if the one placing the bounty so chooses. We ensure that our hunters are never underpaid but will sometimes be overpaid,} the Orusian explained the Virgil.

Although he already knew all of that information, Virgil still thanked the woman for giving it to him before he passed over his watches so she could upload the apps.

Once she handed them back, the woman did not notice the purple veins that entered the watches for a moment before they disappeared. Even if the female seemed nice, Virgil would not let his guard down so he had his nanites check the watch to make sure that the app was the only thing she uploaded.

Once he had the app, Virgil walked over to an empty table before communicating with the watch using the nanites he had already implanted inside the watches. He then quickly created his profile and uploaded a picture to go with it.

Besides his name and the image on the profile, it was empty due to not taking on any missions yet. Virgil then walked over to the wall on the side and began scanning for missions that needed completing.

Most of them were posted in common but those that were 1 or 5 stars were usually posted using a different language.

After looking through all of them, Virgil found one that suited him well. It was posted only a few hours ago which meant that no one had probably taken it since it was the middle of the day and most got their missions earlier in the day.

- Additional Information: Sunriders is a small group of 9 individuals. These scum have killed the child of I, King Rium of the Riumoral system. I want all 9 of them brought to me alive so that I may torture them.

They are currently hiding out in the Uluric system on the Mendel Station. We are unable to travel there which is why I am hiring bounty hunters. If you are up for the task, bring me all 9 back, alive.

]

The bounty also included images of each of the bounties on it to make sure the hunter would not get confused.

Riumoral and the planets within the solar system around it had been at war with the Uluric system a few years prior. Once the war was ended due to both sides losing too many forces, a treaty was made. Part of the treaty would forbid anyone that currently or had ever been a member of of the other system's kingdom.

The Mendel Station was a lawless space station where many criminals would hideout. While many planets wanted to destroy it, it was considered illegal due to not being able to confirm the criminal presence of everyone on the ship.

This mission was basically free money to Virgil.

'Bringing back 9 individuals of average ability who decided to kill a king's kid? Perfect. I can handle that easily.'

Virgil scanned the bounty and scanned the bounties of a few other individuals that were thought to be on the station as well.

'Might as well save me the trouble of making multiple trips.'

Once he had the 5 bounties he wanted, Virgil left the guild building. Once he was outside, he looked to the sky as his body left the ground. He quickly got closer and closer to the stars above until he could feel that his body could no longer breathe. That's when he activated the tech of his shirt to create a helmet for him.

In the space above Coruscant, Virgil looked down at the planet below in awe. All the lights from the city-planet below looked amazing from where Virgil was.

'I could get used to this.'

Virgil turned toward a certain direction before lifting his hand and opening a blue portal that looked like it led to an abyss. Virgil flew through the opening to appear in space on the other side.

Only that he was no longer over Coruscant but was instead floating near a large space station that was shaped like an hourglass.

Virgil looked around before flying towards the upper hanger bays and entering the space station through there. No one noticed his presence due to the large number of space crafts.

Once Virgil landed in the hangers, he immediately went towards the lower area of the station. The Sunriders were said to be located near the bottom half of the station. Virgil planned to go from top to bottom as he hunted his prey.

The first 3 targets were not difficult for Virgil to handle. Each one of them was seemingly killed with a single, clean blaster shot through their head or heart. With his silent blaster, there was also no noise made for others to hear what was going on.

It was the 4th target that finally resisted. Unlike the others that Virgil held down with his powers, he wanted to test his aim. And it turned out his aim was shit.

Due to being used to guns and weapons with recoil and kick-back, Virgil was unaccustomed to killing with a blaster that provided neither.

By the time Virgil was able to kill the 4th bounty, he had wasted over 30 shots and have also been shot 3 times in return. Seeing the holes in his close, Virgil gave his nanites an order. Moments later, his clothes were repaired as if nothing happened.

Same as all the others, Virgil ripped the bounty's head off before opening a small black hole and throwing it inside.

'4 heads down, 9 living bodies to go.'

Virgil made his way into the lower hourglass half. After 'nicely' asking around, Virgil was able to find the Sunriders' current base. A large apartment.

Virgil knocked politely on the door before announcing himself.

"Hello, Sunriders. My name is Virgil Winters. I am here for the bounty on your heads. Please come quietly and you do not have to get hurt. Let's do this the say way instead of the hard way."

There was no reply from the inside so Virgil broke down the door with a single punch. He then walked into the room. As soon as he made it past the doorway, several blaster shots struck him in the face.

Each of the Sunriders was hiding behind a piece of furniture in the room. All of them had their blasters aimed at Virgil and were worried about him living since he did not fall.

When the dust from the blasts cleared, Virgil was standing there. Tall and proud. and pissed of.

With a snap of his fingers, all of the Sunriders and the furniture in the room went flying toward the ceiling. With another snap, they all came crashing back down on the ground again. Virgil repeated the process several times as he reversed gravity and disoriented his foes. The last time he reversed gravity and brought them all back down to the ground, Virgil increased the gravity by 7 times and almost crushed the Sunriders.

After he figured they had learned their lesson, Virgil returned the gravity to the standard levels of the space station. He then tied them all to each other with some clothing in the room.

'You guys all shot me just to get your asses kicked with literal snaps of my finger.'

Virgil opened a wormhole in the middle of the room before he threw all the Sunriders inside at the same time. Virgil quickly followed and caught each member of the Sunriders before they crashed into the ground of the plant.

Grabbing onto one of them, Virgil flew through the skies of Riumoral until he arrived in the capital. Virgil landed in front of the main gates and saw both guards present were aiming their weapons at him. He ignored the weapons and introduced himself.

"Hello. I am Virgil Winters, member of the Hunters Guild. I saw the bounty for the Sunriders posted there and have come to turn them in to the Hunters Guild on Riumoral to save you all the trouble of having to pick them up on another planet."

The pair of guards were shocked but once they took a look at the beings tied up, most of them did resemble the Sunriders. Even if they were bruised and beaten a little.

"One moment, Great Hunter Winters. We shall inform our higher ups first."

Virgil nodded as he waited for someone to confirm he had the right guys and pay him the money he was owed.

Soon enough, a lieutenant arrived. He did not say a word to Virgil but instead went over to the bodies to confirm they were real. Once he was assured of their identity, he wrote something down and then stamped a symbol on it before throwing the item toward Virgil.

"Take this, hunter," he said with some disdain "to your guild. This will allow them to confirm that you have completed the mission. We have no more use for you."

With that, the lieutenant took away the Sunriders without sparing Virgil another glance. Uncaring about the lieutenant's attitude, Virgil tookhis signature and note inside the city as he made his way toward the Hunters Guild.

'As long as I get paid and he doesn't ty anything funny, that guy can look at me with all the disdain he wants,' Virgil thought before taking the 4 heads out of his little pocket domain and walked inside the Hunters Guild to collect his bounties.
