Chapter 19: The Mermaid and the Human
Back with Isaac. Isaac has been experimenting with trying to coat his weapon in energy, and has only made progress with successfully coating 2 percent of his magical energy into the weapon. The more higher he goes, the more difficult it gets. Currently Isaac has seen his weapon collapse into pieces more than about 789 times, give or take. The only good thing he has gotten from consecutively summoning his weapon back to back and back is that the timing for his foundation spell had lowered down to 7 seconds. Allowing him to summon his weapon back faster than before to keep working on allowing energy to build up in his weapon. When Isaac didn't have any energy in his dual-bladed polearm. He could slightly chip off some of the ice in ice boulder Kanade had summoned. The more Isaac tried to make bigger dents in the ice boulder, the more he was amazed at the strength of Kanade's ice magic.
"I could easily slash apart ice that is thick as a human body, but her Ice I can barely even chip, even with my enhanced strength and magical weapon". Isaac thinks in amazement as he gets back to trying to concentrate more of his energy into the blade of his weapon.
Currently with Coralia alone inside of the pool, she is humming a very harmonic song that would remind someone of the very essence of nature itself while in front of a plant. Voice magic is a very different form of magic that has its own criterias in allowing itself to be trained. Like how on Earth, to improve your voice, you would perform singing exercises like holding your breath, do exercises, and constantly sing different notes. The same applies to voice magic , voice magic can also be influenced by the songs the mage sings or the words they say. Some strong voice mages could even pass of dragonborn to the greybeards, but that's a joke for another time. Coralia is currently singing, and as she is singing, a plant, with an pink and orange gradient, slowly but surely begins to rise. This plant is said to be a great measurement of the aptitude of voice mages. A voice mage must use their voice magic to allow the plant to grow, the greater the voice magic, the higher the plant will rise. Through constant practice using this plant, voice mages voice magic becomes stronger. Coralia was currently singing to the plant in the hopes to make the plant grow even more than it currently has, rn, it's almost at the stage of a seedling.
Both Coralia are working hard to achieve breakthroughs in their magical skills, but while everything seems to be calm, a storm slowly brews. Far, yet not so far away from the town that Isaac lives in, a black robed man sits on a tree stump in the middle of the forest. Surrounding him are 5 flamvell wolfs, but these wolves are different, the fur of flamvell wolves are red, with hints of flames rolling off their furs. These wolves had black fur, and black flames coming off their bodies, bloodshot eyes. A deer happens to run into the area where the wolves are stops a moment before seeing the creatures, and immediately tries to escape, but before it can get far, its head goes flying from its body, and blood begins to spray from the body of the deer, before it falls over and collapses. A certain distance away, is one of the wolfs licking its claws of the deer's blood before it howls loudly. The man on the tree stump, bursts with laughter at the sight of how easily the flamvell wolf took care of the deer.
"Soon, that town won't be able to hide that precious treasure from me for long, once my preparations are complete, Ill raze that town to the ground!" He screams hysterically and continues to laugh even harder. Back with Isaac and Koralia, both are still hard at work in improving their magic, Isaac is able to utilize 3 percent of his magical power and channel it into the blade. And Coralia's voice magic has become stronger alongside her learning a new spell while training using the plant. While they are both training, the temperatures in the rooms they are practicing in drop significantly. Isaac knows that this is Kanade's way of telling them they must leave to go back home. Isaac uses his mana sense to lock on towards the traces of Coralia's magical power, and follows it till he finds her. When Isaac finds her, he grabs her arm and says the words, "We need to leave, it's getting dark out". Coralia rips her arm from his grasp, before walking off towards the exit. "What was that"? Isaac thinks in shock, trying to think if he did something to anger her at all. Meanwhile with Coralia, Coralia is having a hard time processing her feelings, when she is with Isaac, things feel at ease in her head, yet there is this other presence of a feeling, something that she doesn't want to feel cause it confusing but she doesn't just shove it away. The minute Isaac touched her arm, she pulled her arm away from him and just got away before he could make fun of her for the blush on her face. A small part of her though, wants him to carry her again like he did when they first met.
"What am I thinking"!? Coralia shouts to herself before she walks into the wall, leaving a small bump on her head. Isaac runs over and stares at the bump on her head.
"Are you okay"? He says as he rubs the bump on her forehead. Coralia's face begins to get red as she gives a very meek "yes", in reply to Isaac's question. Isaac stares at her in confusion, but before he can ask anything, Kanade walks over and uses her magic to reveal the staircase behind the wall so that they can leave. "Make sure you both don't slack on your practices, also". Kanade says before turning around and walking away. Before she fully leaves, she turns back once more. "Also don't come back until it's been a month's time, I have to leave the town to do some work". Kanade finishes.
"What type of work Ms. Kanade"? Isaac asks curious what could make her leave the town for a whole month. Kanade smirks down at Isaac before petting his head. "When you breakthrough to a tier 1 mage, I will surely tell you". She laughs as she finishes her statement than walks away from the both of them. Isaac shakes his head at her retreating figure and turns to Coralia once more.
"Let's just go home, Isaac says to her, before picking her up and rushing with her towards their home. Isaac's moving speed is ridiculously fast for his age, allowing himself to run fast enough to lock himself at 35mph, and he can even jump to the top of the house's in the town, with relative ease. If anybody could see outside right now, in the moonlight, a handsome youth in a black cloth is holding a beautiful girl with a green dress and green sandals, hopping from building to building. Not an aladdin carpet, but still a effective way to travel.
"I can walk you know...". Coralia says while her cyan blue face becomes a shade of cherry red. She turns her head to make sure that her face can't be seen by Isaac.
"Yeah, but mom is making our favorite food tonight, so I want to be home as fast as possible to eat"! Isaac exclaims in excitement as the thought of spicy orange chicken and rice entering his stomach.
"Well what are we waiting for"!? Coralia exclaims in the same excited tone as Isaac, kicking her legs and throwing up her arms in joy. "To Big Sis Isabella"! Isaac and Coralia spend the journey back, with the thoughts of food on their mind.
