Chapter 18: Overcoming Hurdles
"Alright Ms. Kanade, whats my task for today"? Isaac asks in excitement as the thought of the tournament is still on his mind.
"I was going to make you try to learn something like this later down the line, but I think it's finally time for you to try to learn how to make your weapon sharper". Kanade says and begins to walk towards the wall that will reveal the staircase to the basement level of the library. Kanade casts the magic necessary and opens up the wall and has both Isaac and Coralia follow her down. As they are walking down, Kanade continues to speak about the topic to Isaac. "To make your weapon sharper, there is multiple ways to do so, but whichever way you choose, it must make your weapon sharp enough to cut through a tier 1 lower rank ice block that I spawn for you". Kanade states as they approach the room that Isaac and Kanade first sparred in for the very first time. Kanade picks up the magic power mirror and aims it at Isaac. The mirror reveals the number 50 when aimed at Isaac. "Not bad for being so young, usually magi kids around your age right now Isaac have 20-30 in magical power. 50 showcases your hard work ethic". Kanade says and lightly smiles at the magical power of her disciple. Coralia who is slightly agitated at being ignored grabs the end of her dress in her fists and yells, "Ms Kanade, can you tell me my magical power!". Kanade turns to her with the mirror and aims it at her. The mirror reveals the number 36. "You're also not that bad yourself". Kanade says to Coralia.
Coralia begins to show a pout on her face, as her magical power wasn't as high as Isaac's impressive 50. Isaac gives her a smirk, and Coralia returns the smirk back with a annoyed glare. As the both were making funny faces at each other, Kanade rolls her eyes as he hands glow with magic, and a second later a huge ice boulder appears in front of Isaac and Coralia. Kanade walks from behind the ice boulder in front of Isaac.
"Get to work". She says and walks off towards Coralia. "You can come with me". She says to Coralia, and Coralia and Kanade leave the room, leaving Isaac alone, wit a huge ice boulder. Isaac begins to stare at the ice boulder and begins to run through multiple ideas in his head about how to make his weapon sharper. But there is only one idea that seems feasible in his head.
"I can't change the shape of my weapon into something more sharp because I don't know the structures of weapons like a blacksmith would to truly make my blade sharper. I do have an idea as to how I can make my weapon sharper". Isaac thinks to himself as he raises his hand in the air and a purple glow appears around his hand. 10 seconds later, his dual-bladed polearm is summoned into his hand. Isaac had been training hard to lower the time needed to summon his dual bladed polearm, even though 10 seconds is still too long, he is much more easily able to access his full combat power, also as an added bonus, because he is more familiar with his foundation spell, he doesn't need to use as much magic nor say the word "summon" to make his weapon appear. Isaac begins to concentrate on his weapon, and enters his magical tree, as Isaac looks at his magical tree the formation of a small glowing purple orb is underway, but its not complete yet. Isaac returns to reality and begins by sending 10 percent of his magic into his weapon. Which causes his weapon to collapse on itself and break into pieces.
"I need to get used to used to coating my weapon in energy but if I use too much, it will collapse on itself". Isaac thinks as he uses only one percent of energy this time around. Isaac keeps experimenting on how to coat his weapon in energy. Meanwhile, with Kanade and Coralia in another room. Kanade and Coralia are in a room with a pool in it. Kanade is in a very revealing swimsuit that accentuates the curves on her body incredibly well. Her snow-white skin is revealed in all of its glory. Coralia on the other hand is still in her dress with her green sandals on confused as to what they are doing in the area with the pool. Kanade jumps in the pool and resurfaces. Her hair glistens with water rolling off of it. Kanade than swims up to the edge where Coralia is then says, "I know your species's magical power gets stronger when in water, so come in the water" She finishes and swims back to the center of the magical pool. "Come on in". Kanade says to Coralia and just sits there in the water. Coralia just stands there looking scared of the reason why Kanade wants her to go into the pool. Having enough her of being afraid, Kanade's hands glow with magic and sends a wave of frost directly at Koralia that directly freezes her upper half of her body, leaving her legs, arms, and head exposed. Coralia falls back onto the floor while trying to struggle out of the ice. Kanade gets out of the water and walks closer to Coralia's legs and takes off the sandals Isabella gave her.
"Give those back"! She screams at Kanade. "Big Sis Isabella gave me those sandals and they are from her mother"! Coralia says as tears begin to drop from her eyes and her toes curl from the freezing cold of the ice block. Kanade releases Coralia from her ice prison and says one sentence before walking across the water with ice appearing at her feet. "Come get them fish". She says with a smirk, as she gets farther from Coralia, dangling the sandals as if to tease Coralia. Coralia gets up and rushes towards Kanade in anger, as she jumps into the water, her legs turn into her tail and her fins resurface on to her body. When Coralia enters the water, she rushes towards Kanade at a speed slightly faster than a dolphin.
As Coralia closes in on Kanade, Kanade smirks before a magical glow takes form in her hands, and a icy mist begins to appear around the surrounding area followed by a blizzard spread in a 5 meter distance surrounding Kanade. As Coralia rushes in to charge at Kanade, Kanade disappears in the harsh blizzard before Coralia can go for a tackle. Coralia swims up to see if she can see Kanade, but all she can see is the hash blizzard snow blowing all around her. Suddenly she is kicked in the side by Kanade, sending her crashing through the water. When Coralia shakes off the pain from the kick to her side, she begins to channel magic into her throat, and opens her mouth. When Coralia's magic is charged to the maximum, a sound wave appears out of her mouth, going through the water and spreading out into the open room. Immediately following the sound wave going through out the air, the sound wave comes back and enters back into Coralia. Once the soundwave comes back, Coralia rushes at a certain point in the blizzard, and is effectively able to tackle Kanade out from the top of the water. While Kanade is suprised, it will surely take more than a single tackle to throw her off her game, and she flips in mid air and lands outside the pool. Coralia begins to rush at her aiming to attack Kanade before she can use magic. Kanade waits until Coralia gets close, before stomping her feet, and freezing the entire pool into solid ice, trapping Coralia in the ice. Coralia bangs her arms on the top of the ice in the hopes that she can break the ice and gets back her sandals, but she doesn't have the strength. She glares up at Kanade. Kanade walks over to the trapped Coralia and kneels down to her and tosses the sandals in front of her.
"Remember the anger you felt today, for it is that anger that will drive you to want to protect the things you love". Kanade says with a soft tone, before walking off and then unfreezing the pool. Coralia catches her sandals and swims up to the edge of the pool before jumping out and transforming her tail into legs mid jump. She puts on the sandals then stares down at her feet. As she stares for a long time at her sandals, she begins to cry, but quickly wipes her tears, and replacing the sadness on her face, was the determination to be stronger.
