Chapter 1I Died

Author Note (September 2023):- Back when I first began writing this story, I didn't have an inkling of how the story would end up. For that reason, the first volume is horrendous and would be rewritten in due time. So, you may find some inconsistencies should you read a non-edited chapter right after an edited one. As for the story itself - it genuinely takes off from the second volume and on forth (after chapter 50).

NOTICE (November 1st 2023):- This book is being actively edited. Certain paragraph comments might make no sense due to that. Each edited chapter will have a notice with the date it was edited at the top.

------

As I regain my clarity, several thoughts pass through my mind. The most prominent one being: What the hell just happened?

I gradually open my eyes, only to be blinded by sunlight. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that I just died... Or so I think?

If I died then how am I thinking right now? Beats me. But, I'm almost certain of it. I died. It wasn't a dramatic death of sorts; I just died a slow, crippling death due to terminal cancer. The last moments of my life were nothing impressive as far as I remember.

A warm hand was holding onto mine as I took my last few breaths. My little sister. She was the only one that actually cared about me. My parents knew that my situation was bleak, and so, had completely given up on me. I take it as my death would've been too painful for them, so they tried to avoid thinking about it as much as they could. Yes, that must've been it.

None of that matters now that I died.

Or so I say, but I don't seem to be dead. Weird.

Taking a deep breath, I attempt to raise my body and I surprisingly succeed. This normally should've been impossible, but the current situation seems to be anything but normal.

"Here we go," I mutter as I make an extra attempt to get off the bed I am lying on. Huh? My voice has changed. Like, a lot. In fact, it's safe to say that it sounded completely different to the voice in my memories.

That aside, I don't recall the hospital bed being this high... Huh... my height? It has changed? What? Where am I?

I'm not in the hospital. What's going on? I know I convinced myself that I died, but this is still creepy. Don't tell me the afterlife is actually a thing. I mean, even if it was, this place would probably be the last thing I'd imagine it to look like.

I am in a room - specifically, a bedroom. A very empty bedroom. And by empty, I mean that I see barely any personal belongings.

I hear the sound of a door opening. Looking towards it, I spot a girl with silver hair tied into long twin-tails entering the room. She looks my way and seems a little bewildered, but that expression soon shifts to that of relief as she hurriedly approaches me.

"Haru! How do you feel?" Her rather lovely voice reaches my ears. Hold up... What was that language, and why do I understand it? Based on her looks, she is a beauty of eastern origins. Perhaps, Japanese? Now that I think about it, this room does look like a typical Japanese room you'd see in a TV show taking place in Japan.

"Haru?" She breaks me out of my reverie.

"Uh. Umm, can you understand what I'm saying?" I ask her nervously. My mouth somehow replicates the language she just spoke, which I assume is Japanese.

"Huh? What are you saying? Forget that. How do you feel? Does your body hurt anywhere?"

Well, my brain does. Seriously, what's going on? Her response suggests that she understood me perfectly fine, so that's a relief at least.

"I'm not feeling any physical pain," I respond truthfully.

She lets out a small sigh. Cute. Now that I take a good look at her, she is one heck of a beauty. For one, she seems... squishy. By that, I mean to say that she is the perfect combination of pretty and adorable. A white-skinned, doll-like body. She's petite. In fact, I'd say that calling her "fragile" wouldn't be an exaggeration.

The girl's expression suddenly changes. From worry and relief to that of a glare.

"What happened to you? Why did she bring you over?" she asks with a hint of menace in her voice. I can swear that the menace seemed to grow when she asked the second question. Who is this "she" though?

~~~~~
Important note: Don't judge the story from early on, as it's sort of an extended prologue to the multiverses and power system.
That's especially the case regarding the main character, as his true personality begins to take shape around the second arc of Volume 2.
Well then, I hope you enjoy reading~
White Dragon Hidden in The Leaves
In a world beyond her own, a 19-year-old mute weeb girl named Aiko has been given a second chance at life. She is standing in a stream within a forest, surrounded by snakes and other creatures with the shape of humans' upper bodies but snake bodies from their hips down. A mountain looms ahead of her, its peak hidden by clouds. The music of someone playing a Biwa emanates from the mountain, drawing her closer. As she climbs the mountain, she sees holes with various types of snakes watching her every move. Fear grips her as an eastern Dragon with golden scales dives into the clouds, telling her to go back down where it's safe and familiar. But Aiko remembers moments from her life where she remained silent when she could have helped others or turned a blind eye to someone else's suffering. With newfound strength and determination, she pushes forward and climbs higher. Finally passing through the clouds, she reaches the top of the mountain and finds a woman playing the Biwa. The woman introduces herself as Benzaiten, the goddess of water, music, arts, wisdom, wealth, fortunes, snakes, and dragons. She offers Aiko three wishes. Aiko chooses to be reborn with the body of the Kure clan from the Kengan universe for her first wish. For her second wish, Aiko asks to have both the bloodlines of the Uchiha and Senju and spins a wheel to determine the additional natures she will receive. She lands on wind and yang. Finally, for her third wish, Aiko asks to be born with a new Bijuu inside her named Moonhidorah. The goddess grants her wish but explains that the Bijuu's chakra level will be marked by the number of horns it has, and it will only gain more horns over time. Aiko is excited to start her new life and embark on her journey. She expresses her gratitude to Benzaiten and prepares for her rebirth in her favorite village, where Naruto was. As Aiko's rebirth approaches, she wonders what new adventures await her in this world beyond her own and how she will use her newfound powers to make a difference.
I've been reading this one for a while and noticed that it doesn't have the appreciation that it deserves, I guess everything is Marketing at the end of the Day, this fanfic reminds me of 'God succession System' in regards that they're not placed in the ranking they should, I don't dare say they're top 5 but definitely top 15. Writing Quality: Little to none grammar mistakes and great use of synonymous. Story Development: Also great, not loyal to the original stories contained in it, which makes it way better, also the new layout made by the author is not some crazy thing, it is a story that somehow makes sense, even tho everything hasn't been revealed yet. Character Design: Very well done, definitely each character has their own personality, you will find every dere in existence in this fanfic I think and they're in the harem too because yes, this is a Harem novel. World Background: I guess this is where this novel highlights the most, great Nanuverse-type system the author made here, I shall explain better further down. Now my personal opinion *Spoiler Alert* I don't like two things about this novel, everything else is perfect: 1.- It is a little too confusing at the beginning, don't know if I'm the only one but usually unless the story got me hooked up too much I don't read every single word of the paragraph but jump between sentences and I use my logic to comprehend them, thus reading faster, in this one I began and read every single one of the first two chapters and still didn't understood fk all xD dropped it in the list for a few months until I was bored with nothing to do and gave it a chance, after understanding the 'system' the author did, I like it now. 2.- The author is a fking lolicon... As if... Diehard lolicon... Been tempted to call FBI a couple of times already to get his ass jailed. As of now, there's only 2 'official' Harem members: Tiamat and Gabriel. Other milfs have been introduced but it hasn't gone further than a few kisses, he even gives them 'time' to settle their feelings before going all the way with them. But when it comes to lolis, fk it all, take them straight away. So far he has only gone all the way with Tiamat. Come on bro, I'm not saying leave the lolis but what is this Bias? I'll now make a simple guide of the terms I somehow understand: - Rift: It is the main world MC belongs to, a mix between DxD and Yosuga no Sora (maybe some others too). - Mete: I don't know WTF this is (it's like a place between the rift and the platforms where the transportation between worlds takes place? Not very sure) - Codes: Characters with special abilities that allow them to travel between platforms (worlds), they have a power ranking - Unknowns: Characters or entities that come from outside a specific world. - Platform: Is the different worlds there are, rather than call them (anime worlds) author prefered to call them [platforms] to make it more realist and not look like MC is some otaku travelling through the multiverse. Now the things that I like: 1.- Except for DxD, the worlds chosen aren't cliche: Owari no Seraph and Zero no Tsukaima as of now. 2.- MC doesn't know anything about the worlds he goes to, that makes the story more interesting and tense, rather than have an MC that knows everything that's going to fking happen, I prefer when he doesn't know anything. 3.- Relationships are developed with time and there's no Japanese blush-blush-evade bullshit if you know what I mean things are rather straight, MC and girl interact and they fall for each other making slow process every so often. 4.- I like the original way the author made his novel work, even tho there are still things I don't understand and that's because they haven't been revealed yet, everything becomes very entertaining once you understand the concepts that he introduces. 5.- MC is very OP but he delegates work, he has partners and an entourage and they help him if needed. Last but not least, sometimes the fights are confusing because there isn't a proper grasp of the enemies and MC strength, he's said to be OP enough to destroy cities in seconds but then you see him struggling to kill some ants sometimes, so you don't really know if either he's weak or the ant is not an ant, either way, it is not good to boast so much of his strength and title, if he's gonna be beaten the crap out of him just to come out on top at last. Greetings.
Now before anything, i wanna make this clear: It's been a while since I've started reading this and i noticed that very few people seem to express their appreciation, really unfortunate, especially when some 'authors' like ghostyz and akikan who write stuff out of their buttholes still get that much popularity and interaction, it is concerning... Anyway, The story is one of the few fanfictions on this platform that I really enjoyed reading and actually liked the main character who the story revolves around. Now, if you're still in the early chapters, you'll probably think that I'm smoking something to write such a review, but no, it really does improve and everything is properly explained, don't be like me who let this hidden gem rot in his collection because of judging too fast... While the story might start confusing and be a bit annoying sometimes at first because of the main character being too carefree for his own good and how he ignored a few obvious hints, it's explained why such thing would even happen and it's also solved after the end of Charlotte's arc. You'll be given the information required to deduce the reasoning, so you only need a brain to figure it out and then you'll really like the main character starting from that point because everything takes a different turn from the 2nd arc, which is High School DxD with Crossovers, and there's a plot! It's not that Exalf(Author) just put everything in a mixer then said "nah, **** it, imma make a wish fulfillment novel" and produced some kind of trashy shit as a result, but there's an actual plot, a goal, and the novel seems to have so much thought and mental power invested in it, yet you still won't find a "Huge Pa treon Deal" suddenly popping up like a boogie-man and targeting your ass-hole. Now, all of that aside: -Writing Quality: There's almost no grammatical errors and you can actually read it without getting your brain fried trying to figure out what the **** everything means...so you'll be using that spare mental energy for figuring out the plot and trying to predict the upcoming events using the hints dropped in each chapter... -Story Development: It really has great development, like, you'll finally find that it has a plot of its own and isn't just following the original canon, yeah not exactly what happened in the early chapters ofbCharlotte because the changes and improvements were in the latter stages of the arc, but the following arcs are really great, [Btw, Minor Spoiler Incoming...] especially DxD with the crossovers or more accurately, 'The Rift'. There was a plan followed, and it was really great, not just rereading the canon all over again like how most 'authors' of DxD fanfictions do... -Character Design: I think I've praised the main character previously, so let me explain why, well, the main character's alignment is chaotic neutral, if you're not familiar with the alignment system, then in simpler terms, chaotic neutral means "i do what i want, but i have a bottom line", the bottom line isn't the laws but his personal morals, sanity and needs. So you should expect a bold main character who knows what he wants, not a xianxia retard who'll commit a genocide because someone made eye contact with him nor a japanese little boi who'll blush left and right every single second, be 'clueless' about the girls' affection or act like a 'beta-bitch' as they call it here... Speaking of the harem, now...take a deep breath...the author is....a certified lolicon...just like mys—now hold on and let me explain, it's all legal work... But seriously, the harem mostly consists of legal and ancient 'lolis' such as Koneko and Ophis, however that doesn't mean that there are no other types, as along the story, the harem gets to include at least one or more of each type and the balance starts to appears, so not only lolis, there are milfs, yanderes, sane-tsunderes, kuuderes, danderea, and there's even around five sisters/step-sisters till now...though unfortunately, it's not literally Wincest in 'essence' but i won't explain why because that would be considered as spoilers and i won't spoil for obvious reasons... So as I was saying, you'll definitely be satisfied and might even get sweetness-diabetes from the cuteness of the lolis—now put that phone down and don't call the fbi, there's only legal/ancient lolis here... -Updating Stability: Consistently one chapter a day to keep your boredom away, though only till you finish it and the 'hunger for more' phenomenon occurs... And finally, -World-Background: Like i said many times, there's a plot, there's a plan, there's gold, everything is nice and cool. The complementary world building is great and there's world-travel not world-jumping, hope you know the difference... So anyway, go and read it, survive the early chapters, and then everything will prove its greatness and worth to you. The novel may not be from the greatest three of all-time, but it certainly is the top ten in my humble opinion. Also, don't forget to leave a review and some comments here and there to make the author feel that it's worth the effort because he doesn't really get any materialistic win out of this, such thing is very very rare these days...Now Go!
