Chapter 244: Pressure

The sound of brittleness around the waters and borders got louder and stronger. It worries Nevi and Ophir that something might have happened with Lehi. Ophir stared at Hexel who had his daughter secured by his chest. He used a linen and robe to tie his daughter close to his heart. Cyprus assisted his second son Sycamore. The boy's feature was after his grandfather Gatsby. Kielah had a Cyprus and Cyrus features except for his eyes that is the same with Celicia. Nimrod was the male version of Natalina his face were too small for a boy. Urchin had Kiel's firm body postures and attitude but his whole facade are after Lila that makes him a charming prince.

Ophir sighed at how the kids are growing in his sight but he cannot see his own child.

"I wonder if how would my kid looked like. Does he or she have Lehi's eyes and hair. Or does his or her features caught mine?" Ophir muttured.

"Nope, I bet that kid got a mixed of you both, well it would be an honour if the kid had a touch of my handsomeness." Nevi butt in.

"Why would the kid inherit something from you?" Ophir asked.

"Well it was to make fun of you buddy."

Nevi comforted.

But Nevi's statement made Ophir worry more. His jaw clicked and was trying to stiffle his doubts. Ophir glanced at Fur and Misad. He studied that their clothings were the same a Lehi when they first met.

"Those guys could be from where you came from." Ophir stated.

"Yeah, but they might be from a different City as we are." Nevi answered.

Their teams are fixing and packing things as they are going to seal another crack. Ophir, Nevi, Urchin and Kiel were doing the task secretly. Kiel would remain with the gang and assigned the three to gather the food and at the same time observe the area. Kiel lead the was as Urchin gave him the signals which direction to go. Urchin can see the view with his trance and Ophir can hear everything which is a good combination.

"We will be following the creek. Let us find another camp. I don't have any thing else to say but we need to move out before another shadows wreck out the tent again. " Kiel announced.

Ever since Evi passed away the shadows inhabited the area. Those who survived from the Tale Bearer's grip eat and made their turf enticing the demonic force and evil spirit.

After their breakfast they instantly followed the creek and went to it's peak. They settle another tent and was about to rest when a howl was heard. It was the sound of rampage. A loud and impulsive one. Kiel summoned his cane. Ophir and Hexel unsheathed their blade and swords. Cyprus used Cyrus' nail rod. Natalina used her gems. Ain prepared his hand. The nearing steps coming all direction put the team to be in their position.

Ophir can hear the harshness of faulty vibration and various claws as it speeds up.

"There are 20 of them." Ophir warned

Their team got surrounded by ravenous wolves. Their features were friendly and ordinary. Ophir tried to hear any faulty shadows from within them and he can point out that there were more than each wolf.

"Let us form a circle. Put the kids inside the circle with Fur and Misad." Cyprus suggested.

"Yep, remain in the line to protect what is growing within the circle." Kiel added.

"There are more than one shadow in each wolves." Ophir wrapped as the wolves started to launch themselves and devour all that they can.

Nevi used his bare hand to push the wolf. He held it's mouth and pulled it's sharp teeth. Nevi used his physical force. It was thanks to the constant attack coming from the shadows that was a remnants from Evi's heart blowing the whistle. Kiel used his cane to thrust and beat the shadows out of the wolves. Hexel used the back of his sword to do the same. Lila opened a portal to separate the shadow from the wolf.

Urchin paused the wolf's time for Ophir, Natalina and Ain to sanctify the shadows.

Fur was surprised that such dark object are being extracted from the wolves. There were more than 20 shadows.

Cyprus used his gift in blood to use the spilled one from the gruesome fight with wolves to stab the shadows. Eyel applied the same as how Ecles alters the shdow as Natalina slit them.

Misad cannot believe what he is seeing. His face were left by all the colors. The old man had his knees shaking. He only witness this kind of events in the movies and television during holloween special. Misad losed himself from fear and struggled to run away and escape which was a wrong move because the shadow tore him to pieces and consumed him like a special peice of meat.

Natalina and Hexel tried to protect and saved him but it was late. The two cannot afford to break the circle or the kids will be in danger. Urchin opened a trance to enclose the shadows as the elders do the fighting. It only took a while when Urchin needed a rest. The trance got close and Kiel needed to shield his son. A shadow appeared from the ground and was about to stab Kiel from the back.

Lila transported herself to fight the shadow but there are more of it. She was able to subdue the two when another wounded her by the side. Lila tried to keep it together when Fur caught her before she fall on the ground. Ophir threw his blade to vanish the impudent shadow. Hexel instantly kill his opponent and Ain slice the space to tend Lila.

Lila's wound were not that deep but her skin started to get infected with something vicious. Lila raised her hand as she started to cough violently. Kiel got worried and started to get vigorous in ending the battle. The last shadow got silenced by Ain. Lila started to get feverish as Hexel halt the spread of the infection.
