Tainted Hunger

D hated most things. Being a Hunter's Apprentice was one of them. Risking his life for scraps was almost worse than the orphanage. When only he survived after the hunting party dined on it's most recent target he thought things were changing for the better. But now it seems hunger is still his most hated thing.

"If you're not feeling well my room is closer. I was heading there when I spotted you." Dean felt his heart race as his mouth spoke before he could consider what he was saying. 'Stupid Stupid no way a pretty girl is going to go back to a guy she just met's room. She probably thinks I'm some pervert now.'

"I would love to but I don't think girls are allowed in the boy's dorms." Pena gave him her best smile and reached out to put her hand in his.

"My room actually has an exterior door. So it wouldn't be a problem." Again Dean's mouth worked before his mind. 'Stupid Stupid Stupid.' He cursed himself mentally.

"Oh, well if you don't mind. I am in a lot of pain." She held a hand to the side of her ribs. "I'm not sure what is wrong… Maybe you could look for me?" she gave him her best-practiced set of pleading eyes. 'Normally I wouldn't try something so risky, but I need to feed. If this boy is telling the truth my luck might be finally changing.'

Dean's mouth suddenly felt dry and he tried to swallow as his eyes gazed at her hand pressed to the side of her chest. "Sure. I don't mind." He felt slightly light-headed as she stood up to lean on him as he guided her towards his dorm room's side entrance. 'Please don't let that weirdo D be in the room. Please don't let that weirdo D be in the room….' inwardly he chanted his mantra as they walked.

Dean was thrilled to find the dorm room empty and managed to guide his pretty patient to his bed glad she didn't ask when he guided her in an odd path through the room. Once she sat down he cleared his throat trying to act calm. "So where does it hurt exactly?"

Pena glanced around the empty room and didn't miss the fact he'd locked the door behind them. She gave him a true pained smile and took his hand to press it to the side of her ribs. "It hurts here."

Dean's breath went shallow and his eyes went wide as his heart pounded so loud he thought the neighbors would complain. Pena inwardly smiled while giving him her best innocent gaze half surprised the gawky boy hadn't passed out. He licked his dry lips and said "Ummmmmmmmmmmmm…."

No longer carrying for finesse as her hunger was becoming unbearable she snaked her free hand up as the other held his to her side. Curling her fingers behind his neck she pulled him down into a kiss and filled his lungs with her sweet poison. Dean barely realized their lips were together before he went limp as his mind faded away to darkness.

Hinged fangs lowered from the roof of her mouth and she fell on the limp boy sinking them deep into his neck. She gulped down mouthfuls of hot blood feeling her body healing with each swallow. Not even bothering to care about how much blood she was taking from the boy or if he would survive her hunger drove her to feast. Dean's life was hanging by a thread as she was a few mouthfuls from going too far when the inner door of the room opened and closed. Leaping off the boy she was already preparing her excuses of having to fend off his advances when she received two shocks at once.

First, the one to enter the room was the rude boy from her class before. Second, when she landed off the bed, suddenly the world flipped over before a curtain came down to block her vision.

D just looked from the passed-out Dean to Pena pinned upside down to the wall, her dress draping down to cover her face. If she was saying anything he couldn't tell since her face was covered and his ward prevented sound from escaping.

With a tired sigh, he walked over to Dean to check his pulse. It was weak but steady, he noticed the twin wounds on Dean's neck were already healed. 'Well, that's good. If he died in our room they might have asked questions.' Glancing at the monster girl pinned in a most inappropriate manner he considered what to do with her. Since he didn't know what the right choice was he figured it would be best to think about it first. So, he sat down at the little desk near his bed and started working on his latest ward project.

**********

Pena hung upside down as her mind flipped between being angry at being pinned to the wall, embarrassed by the breeze she could feel on her exposed thighs, and finally terrified that she couldn't break free or even separate to escape. She hung there for more than an hour before D paused long enough in his work to remember her. He checked to make sure the defensive wards he would need should she attack him were in place before breaking the one that held her trapped to the wall while keeping the silencing portion intact.

Pena collapsed to the floor and righted herself before glaring at the boy she was certain had spent the last hour ogling her while she was helpless. She was already giving him an earful before she realized no sound still came out. Once she stopped moving her mouth D pointed to Dean laying on the bed. "Not in my room."

Suddenly Pena could talk. "It wasn't me! The boy, he forced himself on me. I am so glad you came when you did D." Being quick to make up a story on the spot was a skill Pena had long developed to hide her nature. She started moving towards D with her best scared rescued girl look knowing she just needed to get her lips to his to fix everything.

"He made you feed on him?" D interrupted her charge with his statement and she halted shocked. Even more shocking was his casual shrug. "Not in my room. Next time go elsewhere. Use your bench." Then the rude boy turned and sat back down at his desk ignoring her.

Still not sure what was going on Pena wasn't going to let the opportunity to strike pass. She rushed forward, unhinging both her fangs and her jaw as she struck out lightning fast at the boy's neck.

Her fangs shattered against inky black scales making her gasp in pain, she fell back and collapsed on the floor holding her mouth. D didn't even react but was already scribbling his chicken scratches on a piece of parchment. Everything clicked into place as she realized this boy must be the same monster that had attacked her. Rage filled her but it was quickly chased out by fear. Not only was this boy really a terrifying monster, but he was also able to use powerful magic. She glanced around the room suddenly feeling like she was trapped. On top of that, the boy knew her secret. Even if he didn't kill her himself he could turn her in.

She felt sweat running down her brow as she realized this D held her life in his hands. Glancing around the room in a panic her mind raced. 'What do I do? Why hasn't he attacked me? Or threatened me? What does he want?' She thought back to the compromising position he'd left her in for so long believing he'd been ogling her the entire time. Grasping at any option she put on her prettiest smile and practically crawled towards him.

She pressed her chest against his arm as she purred. "Please don't turn me in or kill me. I'll do anything you want." She hated herself but wanted to live more than anything.

D shrugged her off annoyed. "I told you just not in my room. You're bothering me."

Pena stared at the boy more confused. 'What does he want? He can't really just be letting me go. Why?'

"You… You don't want anything from me?"

"Some peace and quiet would be nice."

"You're not going to blackmail me? Or kill me? Or anything?"

"No. Unless you keep bothering me. I'm almost done with this new ward."

Pena sat back on the floor confused. Her mother had taught her how to hunt, survive, even thrive amongst humans. But nothing she'd been taught helped her understand the strange boy monster in front of her. 'Humans never do anything without wanting something in return. They only think of themselves. Monsters are no different, right? This must be some type of trap. But what is he after? He reeks of commoner stench so maybe money? But if he is really a monster why bother. If he was after my body I would expect him to have taken my offer. What else do I have that he wants?' Pena's mind raced while D was just happy she wasn't bothering him.

Pena slowly stood up and moved towards the door expecting any moment to be attacked. To have another spell disable her or the boy to turn into the frightening monster yet again. She slowly turned the lock expecting to be stopped at any moment. She opened the door staring at his profile as his brow furrowed while scratching away. Stepping out the door she slowly closed it while watching him through the shrinking crack.

Once the door was closed she let out a long breath still far from calm. She busied herself with fixing her dress and her hair that had gone wild from being pinned upside down so long before fleeing. Had she not been so flustered she might have felt the curious gaze watching her leave.
