"The most key and dangerous feature of a Bloodborne is that they can Absorb the Abilities, Attributes, and Traits from the blood they consume. This was the main factor why they were hunted down and killed, because as long as they were alive and continued to feast on blood their strength would continue growing until they died.
Along with the previous, the more blood they consumed also enhanced the strength of their physical body and Abilities tied to their natural affinity for blood and the darkness."
Ethan stopped reading after those passages and could feel his heart racing extremely fast, as a psychotic smile formed across his face. He didn't know why this fact made him so excited since he had never cared about how much power he had before reading this.
Eventually, his chest began to hurt from the fast pace of his heart and he moved his hand to grab it, though even with this pain, the smile on his face didn't disappear and only seemed to grow in size.
After a while he closed his eyes and began to take deep breaths to calm himself and slow his heartbeat. After several minutes, the pain in his chest began to go away and when he opened his eyes the smile on his face had turned into a small smirk.
He looked back down at the book and continued to read the chapter.
"Bloodborne are able to see in the darkness as if it was completely lit, along with being able to search for heat sources and enhance their vision to view further distances. Besides their sight, their other senses are also more enhanced than a Vampire's.
Bloodborne's retain more of their Humanity than a Vampire as well, although they cannot feel guilty for the harm they perpetrated, the burden of violence, or agonize over death. They also have no problem or feel that it's wrong for feasting on blood.
No matter the rank of Bloodborne they all become stronger during the night and even more so when under the moonlight. The higher the rank the more their power will grow during the night. The difference in this power could mean that they could have died in the same battle if it was the day.
Bloodborne are hunters, never the prey. While they're fighting and the longer the fight continues the faster their thought process becomes along with their reflexes. They can also single out a heartbeat or the scent of blood from a distance based on their rank.
Bloodborne constantly release a subtle pressure around them, although they can also intensify this pressure to the surrounding area or an individual, or hide it completely. They can also direct bloodlust or killing intent throughout the area or an individual, this Ability also can be triggered by an extreme feeling of anger or hatred.
They also have the ability to completely hide their presence, making it nearly impossible to find them without an extremely high detection Ability or extremely good senses, even if you are looking directly at them.
Bloodborne with the rank Noble or higher have the ability to increase their strength through stages. The higher the rank the higher the stage they can reach. Nobles have two, Royals have three, and Ancient have four.
The higher the stage the more their appearance changes from their natural appearance. With the increase in stages, their need to consume blood also increases and an untrained Ancient who enters Stage 4 will likely go into a Blood Frenzy.
Bloodborne also have various Vampiric Abilities, although higher ranks will have more Abilities than the lower ones, whereas the Slave bloodline will likely have none. A lower-rank Bloodborne can gain Vampiric Abilities if they consume their blood.
Throughout all the Abilities a Bloodborne possesses, the one that doesn't fit is that they can acquire the System if their original race was Human. They are the only known non-Human or Hybrid that could gain the System."
Ethan looked at the last passage and reread it. He was shocked that, even though he's a Monster, he'll be able to gain the System within the next few years. Since he always knew he wasn't Human or Hybrid, he didn't think he could ever gain the System.
He let out a little laugh and had a gentle smile on his face, however, it went away because he was surprised by a voice.
"That smile fits you a lot better than the one you had earlier."
Ethan looked up, seeing Hazel sitting against the wall, and completely failed to notice that she had woken up or that she had moved to the wall. However, the most surprising thing that happened next was that she was eating potato chips that she brought with her.
He was so involved with reading the book that he completely shut out the world around him. This fact slightly annoyed him considering that his senses were much higher, though when he would read light novels before he would do the same thing.
"How long have you been up?"
"An hour."
"An hour, are you serious?"
"I've mastered the ability of staying so incredibly still that I become invisible to the eye."
Hazel began to slowly bring a potato chip to her mouth and started slowly chewing it, then started repeating the action. However, Ethan held his hand over the shadows next to him than a ball-shaped shadow flew into his hand and he threw it at her.
"Hey!"
Ethan let out a little laugh at her response and began closing the book and setting it next to him. "I know that didn't hurt so stop making a fuss over it."
Hazel sighed then ate the chip in her hand and began talking while she was chewing. "What did you read in the book that made you look like a complete psychopath, it seemed that it got you pretty excited and I've never seen you like that before."
"Well, I learned that I'm able to absorb the Abilities, Attributes, and Traits from the blood I consume. That means as long as I'm alive and continue to feast on blood, I'll continue to always grow in strength. How could that not make me form a smile, even if it's an insane one."
