Sam Runs Into...!

The day progressed, and nothing exciting happened except Clementine and Sam leaving the motel to find those weapons even though they knew that the people that they wanted to protect lacked the proficiency to use those weapons.

The location was further back, they had to track back and were a lot closer to the checkpoint than they would have liked.

This meant they had little time to teach them the basics because they couldn't waste ammunition like how they were doing.

It was limited, they didn't have infinite bullets so they had to be smart in the way they used it.

Clementine and Sam were out, they hoped that they could find a car but the road was blocked so even if they did find one, they couldn't drive.

"Clementine, what do you think of these people? Do you think he would be there?" Sam asked with a hint of worry in his voice.

Clementine didn't respond to him and simply just focused on the task at hand.

Just like they expected, the further they went in, the more zombies that they saw and this was because it was close to the sight of the explosion.

The zombies were walking around but there was a problem, they had dogs and these weren't just any dogs.

They were K-9 dogs and they were devouring a corpse, they had an insatiable appetite and this was the first time that Sam and Clementine had seen that the mutation had affected other species other than humans.

"What? It affects animals!?" Clementine thought but she noticed something different about these dogs, they looked a lot bigger than the average K-9 and Clementine thought that this had to do with mutation.

With the growling sound, Sam knew things wouldn't be easy but unlike Jason, he could trust Clementine to take care of herself and this meant that the diversion tactic could work.

Sam surveyed the area but he didn't see any building he could take cover in neither did he think he could outrun this dog.

Sam was in a tight spot and knew he had to choose who would be the decoy.

The decoy could potentially face a greater threat than the person in the building.

They had to be careful in terms of their decision and Sam discussed it with Clementine.

"I will be the decoy," Clementine said after a brief moment.

"Are you sure?" Sam asked, he wanted her to be certain because they didn't know how the mutation affected the dogs but they had established that the zombies worked based on smell and these zombies had enhanced senses.

And Sam feared that the dogs would have an even greater sense of smell but he remembered the tactic that Jason utilized.

Clementine already had an object in hand so she could draw the zombies away from the area and Sam realized maybe he didn't have much to worry about.

He smiled to himself as he had momentarily forgotten just how amazing Clementine was.

"You tell me…" Clementine said as she cocked her gun with a silencer at the nozzle.

"Hahaha! Of course!" Sam exclaimed.

-

"The zombies are everywhere! We cannot escape!" A man with a deep voice muttered to another man that had a softer voice.

"I don't know where they keep fucking coming from but at this rate! We won't be able to hold up!" The other man responded as he tossed his gun.

They had run out of ammunition.

The darkness in the police station robbed them of their sight because the blinds were down and this made it difficult for them to navigate.

"Fuck, man! We cannot die like this… The zombies are hungry, they just need to eat right?" The man with a soft voice blurted out.

"You retard! There are dogs outside! They're the ones that brought the zombies here! It is like they're fucking trackers!" The other man responded to his partner.

"This is bad, things aren't looking good! I would rather you die than me, to be honest…" The man with the softer voice said and the demeanour of his partner changed.

The moment he felt it, he rephrased his sentence.

"I\m just kidding man! I would never do that bo-!" The hand of his partner covered his mouth as they saw light sneak into the room telling them that something had managed to enter the room.

The fact that it opened the door could only mean one thing and that was the person that entered being human.

"Someone is here…" He whispered to his partner as he slowly removed his hand from his mouth.

The blinds were soon opened, and the rays revealed the zombies around.

Just like in checkpoint, they were all stagnant and in a trance-like state.

No one knew why they did this yet but they understood that it couldn't be good.

The person in this building was no one other than Sam, he had his pistol in hand and the fact that he was so quiet showed he had some training.

He dropped the zombies in the room with quick shots to the head, but his ammunition finished as he moved to kill the last zombie with a blunt object he had on him and this was a dagger.

Sam took a deep breath and the people behind the desk rose to their feet and Sam immediately pointed the dagger in their direction.

He was ready to confront them if they were a threat but the men raised their hand because Sam just showed how capable he was and they knew that he might be their only way to get out of here.

"Hey man, we don't want any trouble!" The first man said but the place they were positioned made it difficult to see their features.

This police station was located further back, they have been walking for quite some time before they reached their location and luckily, they had enough to sustain them in case of an emergency.

"H-Hey, do you have some food?" The other man with a deeper voice asked as he gulped, he couldn't believe what luck they had because they have been stranded for quite some time.

"Both of you! Come out with your hands up!" Sam warned and they did just that.

The men that came into view were familiar, it was no other than Max and the man that they called John, the same name with General X's son even though his original name was Johnny.

Author here, this story is a bit slow paced because we are still feeling out the world and this is technically still the earlier phase of the apocalypse so this is to familiarize yourselves with the world setting and tempo.

But trust me, once the pace speeds up, you will be glad that I took my time with these earlier chapters!
