"Let us through please!" People begged the men in uniform that had set up a barricade.
They were begging to be let in but their cries fell on deaf ears for good reason.
The military didn't know who was infected and who wasn't so they had to be careful.
They could not start checking everyone for bites either so to protect themselves, they didn't let anyone in, at least not for now.
The military was strict and they were heavily armed showing that they were ready for whatever threat lay beyond their defence,
The citizens were anxious but there was nothing they could do against guns and trained killers.
These men had trained to kill people so it would be nothing short of delusional to think that they had a chance.
They couldn't overrun them either because no one was willing to risk their lives.
They pleaded in hushed whispers because they knew that noise would draw the zombies towards them so it would be them digging their own graves.
A sniper was mounted on the barricade, he had a silencer that allowed him to snipe the zombies that neared the citizens, they were coming in at a slow rate with no more than two at a time so it was relatively easy.
This was the only thing keeping these citizens from acting violently. Despite them not being allowed inside, they weren't neglected by the military.
But not everyone had this patience and a scream soon echoed. This was the last thing anyone need and that was noise but this man didn't care about any of that, unfortunately.
"FUCK THIS! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!" A man screamed and everyone immediately darted their head in his direction as if to tell him to shut up but he had reached his breaking point.
"LET ME FUCKING IN OR I WILL JUMP OVER THE WALL!" The man screamed at the top of his lungs, his eyes looked dilated and his lips dry.
The military didn't utter a word, they just watched on as he made a fool out of himself.
They knew if zombies came, it wouldn't put them in danger because the makeshift base they had set up was more than sufficient to protect them against this threat.
"Hey man, we get it. Shut it!" Another man said, he had a softer appearance than the man ranting but this only made him get louder.
He had to be quiet or else his actions didn't just affect him but everyone currently present here.
The man that warned him to keep quiet had to confront him directly and a fight broke out between the two. They began throwing punches, pushing, and shoving each other, it intensified with each passing second.
No one tried to separate them because they knew if they did, they might get caught up in the punches but things escalated.
The man that had warned him smacked him a little too hard, this sent him crashing head-first into a car, killing him in the process.
Everywhere fell silent because this man had just been murdered in front of a military camp.
They expected a bullet to fly through his head but it never came, the military men watching didn't look concerned by what had happened.
This told people one thing and that was, they were free to do anything they wanted without interference from these military men but there was also the possibility that they understood this was an accident.
This single assumption is what kept the order but people were beginning to wonder what the purpose of the men was.
"Well, fuck me…" The man muttered; he was trembling because this was the first time he had taken a life. Even though it was an accident, it was still murder.
Everyone backed away from him slowly, their eyes full of judgment but they would all soon have a lot more to worry about as the man that had most certainly died from the impact.
Grabbing the leg of the man that had killed him and biting into his ankles, the man screamed in pain as he stomped the head of the zombie to break free.
He took a couple of steps back, limping but before he could do much, a bullet was on its way to his head; it hit an unsuspecting individual instead as everyone had dispersed, running around chaotically.
This made it impossible for the sniper to land a shot without hitting innocent people, this was something that they couldn't afford because they were still military men that considered the safety of citizens.
They were not to use force unless they had to but this allowed the chaos to worsen.
The zombie had bitten multiple people in a short timeframe and the uniformed men couldn't keep track of those bitten and those that went.
The people charged towards the barricade, they had no choice but to try and bring down the wall and this was when the men in uniform opened fire.
Bullets riddled through the crowd, killing the opposing incoming citizens as they realized at that moment that these men were not here to protect but to keep them out.
They didn't know how the virus spread and they had strict instructions not to let anyone through but they soon found out something that they didn't even realize would be possible.
The people that he had just killed, came back to life soon after and joined the zombie.
The military at that moment realized that they might have escalated the situation by opening fire. They shot the people trying to scale the wall and the bullets inadvertently hit a few more behind those who were running for their lives increasing the killing range exponentially.
"Kill them all," A man in a mask instructed before walking away from the wall as the gunfire continued. This man was known simply as X.
The infection was once thought to spread through bites but were all these people bitten?
That was impossible because the host died within twenty-four hours of the infection.
They didn't live longer and these people have been here longer than twenty-four hours so what the hell was going on?
The battle raged on, humans vs zombies.
