Sword Arts Online: Darkness

What if the creator of Sword Arts Online had controlled Kirito and his friends, turning them into evil, and brought the game into the real world, turning it into a giant game world? Well, this is the situation where our ordinary protagonist Roxas Nietes, or Spark78Reformed, as his player username, had found himself. Being a foreign high school student living in Japan with his friends in a shared house owned by his school would make his life there difficult, but his intelligence on basically anything instead made him prepared and an actionist. He was an ambivert who loved music, art, writing, picture taking, philosophizing, and best of all, making scenarios of all kinds in his mind. So, the day before SAO was brought into the real world, Roxas had unknowingly received a mysterious-looking email from a player named Anko Tachibana, who was a deceased player. That email is a request for help because he, who knew Kirito and his friends before, wants someone to help them, who are now known as the Elite Players, snap from their state of being brainwashed by the game. Roxas accepted it after some thinking, but there’s one condition: he will be Anko’s vessel because Anko is now a spirit after his death in the game. To be free from Anko’s ghostly possession, he needed to complete the task in any way he could. Now that he was Anko’s vessel, what would Roxas do to do this big and seemingly impossible mission? Well, he will use his intelligence, ambivert personality, and scenario-making mindset to do it, plus action. That combination sounds ridiculous and unorthodox, but for him, it will be a good one. So, join him, Anko, and their friends in a now-altered reality fighting monsters and bosses across Aincrad-ridded Japan and getting into the Tower while trying to get Kirito and his friends out of their brainwashed state. But the dark side of Sword Art Online was slowly revealed as Roxas and his friends went deeper and deeper for their mission through their spirit guardians. One of them was the origins of Eugeo and Alice (This was what if Eugeo and Alice were once humans who were killed and were forced to be bots in the games?) Warning: This story is dark, and the cover photos for this are NOT mine! Credits go to the original owner!

Chapter 44 - Koyuki's Sketch of Roxas Nietes

Minato and Hideyoshi's POV

We were shocked to see her in chains and rushed towards her. "Hey there! Are you okay there?" we asked her, before checking her body and current state. She heard it and looked at us with a downward sad look on her face. "Help me…please…"

"Yes, you must be one of those Elite Players, right?" Minato asked her.

The girl then slowly nodded. "Yes, but the evil version of myself controlled me."

 "Is that so?" Hideyoshi asked.

The girl then nodded.

"What's your name?" Minato asked again.

 "My name is Yuuki Asuna…"

"Nice to meet you, Asuna-chan," Hideyoshi replied back positively. "My name is Kitagawa Hideyoshi."

He then looked at me. "This is Minato Araraki, my vessel."

 "Vessel?" Asuna responded back slowly.

"Yes, Minato-kun is my vessel because I am dead!" Hideyoshi responded back happily.

Asuna was taken aback with shock. "You're actually dead, Hideyoshi-san?"

Minato then nodded.

After that, we sat down next to her and asked her about everything going on with the game's system. Asuna was brave enough to tell us what had happened, including the culprit behind the advent of the game in the real world. She also warned us that weren't strong enough to take that person down, for it was way stronger than we thought. We understood that and explained to her that we were on a mission to rescue her and her friends from the trap of being brainwashed. Asuna was surprised to hear that. "Really?"

"Yes," Minato replied back with positive coolness. "By the way, do you know Roxas, right?"

"Roxas? Oh, yes, my evil self told me about him. That guy is a foreigner, right?"

"Yup, that's him," Hideyoshi replied back. "He was our good friend. Did you know? Roxas had a spirit guardian of his own, too."

"Oh, right, my evil self told me that and how annoying that dead player who lived within Roxas was."

"Yes, his name is Tachibana Anko," Minato responded back, "That youngster is our friend."

 "Oh…"

But then, time is up, and we were disappearing from the void, but we did promise her to help her and her friends out before completely disappearing from the scene.

Third person POV

Back to the real world, Minato woke up and breathed heavily because of it. He was stunned by his recent dream, before snapping out and grabbing his notepad and pen to write down the details of the dream. Hideyoshi within him then said to him, "Man, Asuna-chan was in despair."

"Yes, she was," Minato replied back.

Later, in the kitchen, while Shuto and Koyuki are cooking breakfast, Minato went up to Roxas, who was preparing the table, and asked him, "Good morning, Ro-kun. Say, do you have any dreams about voids with some of the Elite Players in chains?"

Roxas then heard that and looked at him. "Oh, morning, yes, I do. Why?"

 "Me too as well."

Roxas was stunned to hear that. "Is that so? Who did you meet?"

"Apparently, it was a girl named Yuuki Asuna."

"No flippin' way…she was Kirito-kun's friend! Well, for me, I met Kirito-kun and Eugeo-kun."

"What? That's insane! Two dreams for you, my friend!"

Roxas then chuckled a bit. "Yeah…"

And so, before breakfast was done, Roxas and Minato sat down and shared each other's dreams and their details from the chained Elite Players.

Later at school, before class starts, Roxas was reading his usual, wanted-to-finish-reading-this book when Koyuki, who sat from across the aisle from Roxas' seat, started to sketch a pencil portrait of him secretly. Roxas had no idea that someone was doing it. But then, seeing Koyuki sketching a pencil portrait of Roxas made a girl, who had just arrived in this classroom, not happy. What was her intention?
