Notebook

The rest of the day was anything but normal.

Luna was terrified after witnessing me getting slapped. It was her first time seeing violence. She came to my room, crying, and asked if I was okay, apologizing for not being able to do anything even though she was the elder sister. Luna also expressed her hatred for Avalon, saying Avalon is an idiot for beating me.

Seeing Luna's reaction, I couldn't help but think that she would grow up to be a fine lady. I wondered what had gone wrong in the original novel for Luna to have turned out so crazy. Perhaps it was all because of Avalon.

Auric hugged Luna and thanked her for being the only one to truly care about him. In response, Luna said that everyone in the estate loved and cared about him. Auric laughed, and Luna pouted angrily.

After talking for a while, Luna's nanny took her to her tutor's for a lesson.

Once Luna left, Auric was left alone in the room, lost in thought about his past life. These past few days, he had been dreaming about Emma, and he couldn't sleep. Even though he thought he had come to terms it, deep down, he knew he hadn't accepted what had happened to her. And looking at Luna reminded him of her...

<Hey, system, do you think what happened to Emma was my fault?> Auric asked.

[ Emma? I have no records of a person named Emma in my database, and in this life, you have not met anyone named Emma. Is she someone from your past life?] the system replied.

< Ah, so you don't know about my past life? Can't you read my memories? > Auric asked.

[ No, I don't know much about it. I only have bits of information about you, and i cannot read your memories about you past life without your permission. it is against the protocol ] the system said.

< Is that so... thats good to know > Auric muttered.

[ So if you don't mind me asking, who is Emma?] the system asked.

< hm? no, nevermind > Auric said, stopping himself from thinking about her.

He then began to think about his future plans. Suddenly, he thought of recording all his information regarding the novel in a notebook. It would be better if he does that, since with that he won't miss the important arcs of the novel and also the important places to go to and secure the artifacts before someone else does. But if someone else found that notebook, it would be troublesome.

So he turned to the system.

< System, is there a function to record everything I want?> Auric asked.

[ Yes, there are two ways ] the system replied.

[ One is to unlock the inventory at level 15, write it all in a notebook, and store it in the subspace. The other is to buy the notebook function in the system shop. ]

< Aha! So I'll have an inventory function? How come you never told me about it? > Auric asked.

[ You never asked ] the system replied.

< Ugh, alright. Tell me everything about the system functions > Auric said.

[ Okay.

When reaching level 15, you will unlock the system inventory with 20 spaces at level one. To increase the level, you can use SP points.

In the inventory function, no matter how big or small the object is, it will occupy one space. But if it's the same object, you can stack it up infinitely.

When you reach level 20, you will unlock the system map function, also at level one, with a radius of 50 meters in scanning, and you have to move to ungrey all the greyed-out portion.

Reaching level 25, you will unlock the crafting function, where you will be able to craft different things like weapons, artifacts, vehicles, etc.

Reaching level 30, you will unlock the bond function, where you can make a bond with a person, an animal, or a beast, and even non-living things. ]

[ That's it.

Reaching level 30 unlocks all available functions of the system. ]

< Ohhhhhh, that's great! I didn't think you would have so many functions. You are such an overpowered system! I look forward to it.

But about the crafting function, what did you mean by being able to craft weapons, artifacts, and vehicles? >

[ In the crafting menu, you will be able to craft any weapon, such as swords, battle axes, wands, staffs, bows, and guns, etc. And in the artifact function, just like it's called, you will be able to build artifacts.

In the vehicles function, you will be able to build modern vehicles like skateboards, motorbikes, cars, etc. ]

<Whoa, motorbikes, and even cars! I really wanted a café racer! I will fulfill that wish in this life.

Hmm, since this is a world with magical laws that sometimes defy physics, the world isn't much technologically advanced. Even the advancements made are by humans because they are weaker than other races and have to survive from them. >

Maybe since magic is much more powerful than the firepower of black powder, there is not much evolution in terms of that. There are only simple cannons and such, and there is also the ammunition problem. No matter how I see it, there was no use wasting time on hot weapons instead of cold weapons. Well, I will try to change that if I survive that is.

And in vehicles, there are already teleportation magic and many companies have already established themselves like Portal Hub, Waypoint, and Blink's Station. But, well, it's only for the wealthy, so they didn't develop much because they didn't see any profits by making it available to the poor.

Huh, even in this world, there are exclusionary practices. Well, can't do anything about it. Let's leave it at that.

< So since I am not level 15 now, and that it may take too much time, let's go with the notebook function. How much SP is that? >

[ System Shop -

Notebook Function Description - A function of the system where you can record anything in any format, be it in words, photo, audio, or video, of any size.

Cost - 120 SP ]

< Fuck, so expensive! Hey, system, please make it somewhat cheaper. In five years, I have only been able to save 2,000 SP. Even 100 SP is a big chunk! Have some mercy. >

[ No can do. Bargaining with the system is not allowed. ]

< Fine, take it! Tsk! Well, it's good that there are no limits on the formats and size. >

[

** Notebook Function Purchased **

Now you can record anything you want.

]

< In which angle will it record in the video format?>

[ It can record in the POV format. ]

Heheheehehehe, Auric had an evil thought to use it to his advantage.

< Then turn on the function right now, and don't stop the recording until I tell you to. >

[ Okay. Started recording. ]

Now with this, I won't be forgetting anything I misplace anymore. And with the other use of this function, it's all worth it.

Now let's start writing what I remember about the plot of the novel.

"The novel I am in right now is 'Portal of Destiny,' and it follows the story of a character named Dave, who was orphaned at the age of 2 and got adopted to the orphanage."

"The plot starts in the year 700 of the Arc Year Calendar, and that's when Dave would be joining the academy, at the age of 15."

It is currently year 690 of the Arc Year Calendar.

Coincidentally or not, it appears that both Dave and I are of the same age. I couldn't help but think about how unfortunate it is. Maybe I will meet him once I too will join the academy. I hope not to meet him as he seemed to attract trouble and women like a magnet.

As I sat there lost in thought, my mind drifted to my older sister Luna, who was also a student at the academy and a senior to Dave. She was part of the discipline committee, which was quite a cliche, eh?

" Davis' journey began a year before he joined the academy, in the year 699, when he obtained his powers through a newly discovered inheritance portal. The portal required him to undergo a trial, which he successfully completed, and emerged as a completely different person."

"The story revolves around Davis, a young orphan and commoner who had been admitted to an orphanage due to his circumstances. Being poor and lacking resources, Davis had to venture into the forest to forage for mushrooms and other edible things to sell. Despite his disadvantaged background, Davis remained kind to everyone he met.

One day, while foraging in the nearby forest, he stumbled upon an unexpected tunnel that had never been there before. Davis soon realized that it was a dungeon, and that it could be dangerous.

He initially thought about reporting it to the officials in town, as there was a law that required the discovery of any new, unexplored dungeon to be reported to the town hall, and the discoverer would be monetarily rewarded.

However, before he could turn around to inform the authorities, he saw a puppy wandering into the tunnel. Being the kindhearted person that he was, Davis couldn't bear to see the innocent pup come to harm, and without thinking, he followed it into the dungeon."

Brace yourself for the upcoming chapter, as it may unleash a knowledge tsunami that could make even Einstein's hair curl. But fear not, I'll be here to help you stay afloat! ( info dump)
