Meditation And Magic
Link glanced at Edward, who was holding his head, and shook his head helplessly, with a look of relief in his eyes.
It was not surprising that he had awakened an elemental affinity, because both him and Edward are children born from mages. It's just that their parents were killed on a mission during a beast tide.
Due to this they were left as orphans to be raised by the federations army. The two were assigned a house in the same military area, trough which they became close friends.
"We have to celebrate today Ed" said Link After lightening up his mood whilst smiling at Edward.
"Sure, Bro since you covered the bill the last time, let me cover it this time" Edward said with a smile.
Link who was slightly agitated and said, "You still need to practice hard, Don't waste your talent, as for who is covering the bill it has not yet been decided". Edward sheepishly smiled and nodded not saying anything else.
So far Link has always been the one protecting Edward now but he has awakened an A-rank affinity whilst Link's is only a D-rank affinity. But he didn't care at all. Not to mention that in reality he actually has dual S-rank elemental affinities, even if he only has a D-rank affinity in the eyes of the others. He will not let his affinity rank affect his relationship with Edward, and Ed didn't really care at all.
Later that night, the two spent a few hundred federal dollars to order a table full of delicious food at a restaurant in the 3rd district, ending with them being satisfied. Later in the middle of the night, the two returned to the military base and took out their copies of the basic Mana Meditation Technique which was given to them by the school earlier that day.
'According to what our teacher said, this is a basic meditation techniques, which is used to improve a mages Mana reserves and strength, because only with strong enough Mana can a mage construct a magic circle and release the corresponding magic" said Edward whilst looking at the meditation technique.
Link nodded. He was also studying his basic meditation technique, so he already knew what Edward said.
"Ed, did the teacher that took you to the principal's office also decide to train you ?" Hearing this, Edward nodded and said: "Yeah, the teacher and the principal told me that I need to be trained in order to be safe, as well as a lot of other things. The principal also gave me a wind magic scroll".
"Oh? Wind magic?" Hearing Edward say this, Link's eyes showed a glint of curiosity.
So far, apart from seeing a few mages cast magic, he has not really come into contact with any specific magic scrolls.
Seeing Links curiosity, Edward grinned and took out an ancient looking scroll from his bag, which read - "Wind Blade".
"Link this is the magic scroll. Although, it's only a one-star magic" said Ed as he handed the scroll to Link.
Although the principal and the teacher told him that this magic scroll should not be shown to outsiders, so as not to attract attention. Because the market price of a one-star magic scroll is around 100,000 Federal Coins, which is quite a large sum of money for many people.
But to him, Link is no outsider.
Seeing Edward handing him the scroll without any hesitation, he smiled and he picked it up.
"Wind Blade" Link opened the wind blade magic scroll and seen that it was full of instructions and drawings explaining how to build a the magic circle. At the end, there was a fully drawn magic circle.
Link could clearly feel the faint mana been emitted from it. When the mage created this magic scroll he most likely injected a small amount of wind mana so that future practitioners could understand it better.
After reading the wind blade scroll from beginning to end, Link's eyes lit up, he actually remembered all of it. Closing the scroll and returning it to Ed Link closed his eyes and was able to recall all of it.0
After that the two chatted for a while, ending with both going back to their rooms to practice their meditation techniques. In the room, after Link calmed down, he assumed that his perfect memory is most likely related to his reincarnation.
As a mage, his mana capacity far exceeds that of an ordinary person. Closing his eyes, Link began to meditate according to the technique. Through meditation can a mage enlarge their mana capacity, while also absorbing mana, and storing it in their body.
In order to cast magic a mage must first build a magic circle using their mental power and than than gather the surrounding mana using their own mana as a catalyst to the cast magic.
The higher a mages elemental affinity rank, the easier it is for them to construct a magic circle of that element. At the same time, it is also for them to easier absorb surrounding mana during meditation and spell casting.
