Skills Experiment

While walking out to an open field to test his new skills, Rokene couldn't decide what he wanted to try first. He had already used a fireball against the wolf, but unfortunately his eyes were closed, so he didn't actually see what it looked like. He knew with his limited mana, he wouldn't be able to practice these too much seeing as it appeared to use 1 MP after every use. "Maybe it only uses 1 for now since it's at the lowest level." he wondered to himself.

Deciding that he would make sure his eyes would be open this time, he stuck his hand out to shoot another fireball. He stuck his arm out and opened his hand, as if he was telling someone to stop. He decided to aim at the stream just to be safe. After all, he didn't want to burn down a forest on accident. He may have hated people, but he loved animals and didn't want to be the reason they no longer had their home.

With his arm outstretched, he tried creating a fireball, but nothing came out. "Don't tell me I broke it already." he complained. "Alright let's try this again" this time, he thought of what a fireball would look like in his hand, and just like that, a small ball of fire began to form in the palm of his hand. To Rokene's shock, he didn't feel the heat coming from the fire. After inspecting the small fire for a moment, he decided it was time to see what it could do. He imagined it shooting from him in the direction his hand was pointing, when the ball shot out faster than he thought it would. When the fire hit the water, it was immediately extinguished.

"Hmm not bad." he thought. "Now let's check out the other skills." He decided to try out the water bullet next. Positioning his hand in a way that resembled a gun, he tried thinking of what a water bullet would even look like. After picturing it in his head, a small drop of water shot from his finger tips towards the stream. The water hit with more power than would be expected from its size. The water created many ripples, almost like he threw a rock into the stream as hard as he could. "That had a little bit of power behind it. I'm not sure it would be strong enough to kill a wolf if I came across another one, but maybe if I used several in quick succession, perhaps it would be pretty lethal then." Rokene chuckled to himself after he realized that he was actually having fun.

"Next up is the earth shield" he thought. " I wonder if an actual shield will appear or maybe a wall?" he wondered. This time he held his arm at an angle close to his body as if he was holding a shield. At the same time, he imagined a shield made of earth, and suddenly small rocks appeared out of thin air and made a circle in front of his arm. Pleased with himself for getting the hang of this, he decided to inspect his new shield. "This thing doesn't look very thick so perhaps it wouldn't be able to handle a strong attack, but it could be pretty useful in a pinch." The shield immediately dissipated when he stopped thinking about it.

Now it was time for the wind blade. Rokene was starting to feel like the Avatar due to all the elements he was in control of. "Thank god I still have all my hair though" he said laughing quietly to himself.

For the wind blade, he decided to flatten his hand out while slashing at the air. This one was pretty easy for him to imagine. Again directing it towards the water, a shimmer could be seen flying out from his hand. When the wind blade hit the water, he immediately received a notification.

Looking in the water, Rokene was able to see the two halves of a fish float up to the surface. "Well that was an unexpected surprise. I guess it's time I finally eat." After creating a little fire pit, Rokene stuck a stick through both halves of the fish and stuck it over a fire that he had created using sticks and his handy fireball spell.

With a full stomach, he thought about how being a demon now must be the reason why he had no qualms about eating a fish this way. He was used to buying fish prepackaged, where it was already cleaned, but right now he didn't care about any of that.

"Maybe I should take a look at my status" he thought.

Rokene was too exhausted mentally and physically after everything that had transpired, to be able to complete the experiments. "I'll just have to wait and try the new skills out tomorrow. Assuming this really is not a dream that is."

He decided that making camp next to the fire was probably the safest option that he had. He went out and gather as many leaves and vines that he could, and made a make shift bed and blanket to be able to go to sleep with. "This definitely is not the most comfortable way to sleep, but it sure as hell beats having nothing!"

As the sun began to set, the only light that remained visible was the fire that he had built. He laid down on his homemade bed and began to think about all the different things that he could do with his new powers. His imagination went wild, until he fell into a dream state.
