Lesson Two

"What the hell is this?" Scott looked at Jimmy's "house."

"T-This is my h-house." Jimmy introduces the place he calls home.

"But that isn't a house. It's an abandoned shed."

"Y-Yeah. M-My h-house i-is v-very unique."

Scott looked at the place Jimmy lived in in disgust.

"S-Shall w-we g-go in?"

"Sure Jimmy."

They went into the shed that wasn't even big enough to have a bathroom or kitchen in. The whole place was falling apart and the whole area was unsanitary with dead bugs and cockroaches on the floor.

"This is... unique." Scott looked around.

"Y-yeah, doesn't this place l-look very g-great?"

While looking around, Scott had realized something was wrong with Jimmy. As if he wasn't doing alright. Jimmy was shivering as his body was getting cold from the cool autumn breeze.

"Hey Jimmy, are you alright?"

"Y-Yeah I-I'm a-alright. W-why d-do y-you s-say t-that?" Jimmy kept shaking as he started to shiver.

"Jimmy, this isn't a place for you to live in. I mean for God's sake, you are freezing as I can tell that you are shivering. Besides, when I see your fatigue, you look like you haven't been eating properly."

Jimmy looked at himself as if he was starting to feel concerned.

"W-What do you mean? T-That's h-how I-I'm born. N-Nothing is w-wrong w-with m-me."

Scott looked concerned as Jimmy was hiding the truth from him.

"Look Jimmy, do you want to stay at my place for now?"

"Y-Your place. But h-how."

"I have an attic you can try to sleep in. The couch might be dusty, but we can clean that up."

"R-really?"

"Yeah Jimmy. I don't want you to live in this shithole. Besides, my mom is cooking chicken alfredo."

Jimmy's eye brows rose up. "D-Did you say chicken alfredo?!"

".......Yeah. My mom cooks her different dishes, but it gets repetitive."

  "May I p-please s-stay w-with you?!"

Scott smiled as only a simple dish can attract someone who hasn't eaten in weeks.

It was dinner time in the Smith's family and Jimmy was the guest at the table. They both looked at Jimmy as he was consuming all the chicken alfredo that Mrs. Smith had cooked him.

Jimmy finishes his fifth bowl. "Man, that was a great meal. Thank you for cooking this dinner Mrs. Smith."

"Oh it was nothing. I usually cook this every week." Mrs. Smith blushed

"So Scott, should I see where I'm sleeping?"

"Where you're sleeping?" Mrs. Smith was confused.

"Y-Yeah Mrs. Smith. Scott offered me a place to stay for a while."

"Um okay." Mrs. Smith collects the dishes.

"Your room is up in the attic Jimmy. If you open the latch on the ceiling, you'll see the attic."

"Alright." Jimmy headed upstairs.

"Jimmy. Can I talk to you for a moment in the kitchen?" Mrs. Smith finish collecting all the dishes.

"Sure." Jimmy and his mother walking towards the kitchen.

They both started to wash the dishes.

"Scott. I thought you're just bringing a friend for dinner. When did I agree on taking in another child?"

"Mom, I forgot to tell you this, but Jimmy is homeless."

"Homeless."

"Yeah mom, I recently found out that he lives in a broken down shed and doesn't know who his parents are. I didn't know how he could live in those conditions, so I told him he can stay with us until I can find a better place for him to stay in."

"I see." Mrs. Smith looked at the dishes.

"Scott. I think you're doing the right thing. Being homeless and at the same time not knowing his parents, that can be rough for someone his age. I can tell that he has hypothermia."

"Hypothermia."

"Yeah. Whenever I hear him talk, it feels like he is shivering. I can also tell that he is shaking even though the heat is mildly on."

"But mom, isn't hypothermia a temporary condition?" Scott is even more concerned about Jimmy.

"It is, but being homeless especially in this kind of weather can be long term conditions."

Mrs. Smith is also worried about Jimmy.

"Jimmy isn't feeling good. Sweetie, do you think you will take Jimmy to the emergency room if you get the time tomorrow?"

"Yeah mom, the school gave us the whole week to study for midterms. I'll try to email my teacher about my absence if needed."

Mrs. Smith smiled. "Alright, take good care of him."

"Will do mom."

As Scott got ready for bed, he went up to the attic to check up on Jimmy.

"Hey Jimmy, remember to cover yourself up with more blankets. The attic can get cold sometimes."

"Y-Yeah Scott."

"By the way, Jimmy. Is it okay if I can take you to the hospital tomorrow. I want to check up on your conditions since living in that abandoned shed must've caused a lot of bad health problems."

Jimmy was a bit startled but it was better to get help than to not get help.

"S-Sure S-Scott."

"Alright good night." Scott went down the attic turning off the lights.

Scott then closed his eyes and fell asleep.

During the middle of the night, Jimmy had a dream. A dream that made him move on the couch.

During his dream, he was driving a red convertible car that was driving fast on the roadway.

"Where am I? Why am I driving?" Jimmy looked at the steering wheel.

"Brother." A mysterious voice came out of nowhere.

"Brother?" Jimmy questions the mysterious voice.

"BROTHER!" the voice raises its tone.

Suddenly, Jimmy hit something that made his tires go flat. The car slowed down and Jimmy didn't know why. He got out of the car and saw that all his four tires were flat.

Jimmy looked at his tires. "How did this happen?"

Out of nowhere, Jimmy was surprisingly knocked out. Once he fell on the ground, he was falling in the darkness just to approach a hospital chair landing on it perfectly.

"Where am I? What is this place?" Jimmy looked around the void.

Things weren't over just yet as ropes out of nowhere tied up his wrist, torso and his legs.

"Hey what the hell!" Jimmy struggles to get out of the restraint.

Soon, a mysterious figure came out of nowhere. He was all dark and anonymous walking closer towards Jimmy.

With a dissecting knife, the figure got closer and closer. "Don't worry. This won't hurt a bit."

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Jimmy woke up in the middle of the night.

He took a deep breath panicking as his hands were shaking.

"W-What was the d-dream?!"

It was now the morning and both Scott and Jimmy were served waffles, orange juice, and sausages.

Scott was eating his breakfast as usual, but for Jimmy, it was unusual. He was poking his breakfast even though Scott expected him to eat it like a famished person.

Scott was looking at him. "Hey Jimmy, are you okay? You've been poking your waffles for a while."

"Y-Yeah. I g-guess I'm not h-hungry."

"Alright." Scott looked at Jimmy. "Well you better finish your breakfast. We'll be heading to the hospital soon."

"O-Okay." Jimmy kept poking his breakfast.

After they finished their breakfast, they went to the garage to get ready to head to the nearby hospital. Scott approached the motorcycle that used to belong to Ashley.

"H-Hey S-Scott. I-Is that your motorcycle?"

"Yeah it is. Someone important gave this to me. To not forget her." Scott remembers Ashley before her death.

They both got on the motorcycle and rode to the nearby hospital according to Scott's GPS on his phone.

"W-Wow S-Scott. You can ride a m-motorcycle! Who taught you t-that?"

"Ashley." Scott focused on the road.

"A-Ashley. w-where is s-she?"

"She's ...….. Gone." Scott looking upset

"Oh what h-happened."

"She got murdered. Whoever did this to her, I swear I'll bring that asshole to justice."

Jimmy was surprised throughout the drive to the hospital. "I-I'm sorry to hear that."

They arrived at the hospital and  parked the motorcycle near the entrance. Scott signed them in and waited at the lobby.

A few minutes had passed and one of the nurses opened the door. "Jimmy Wilson."

Jimmy looked at the nurse and was a little bit nervous. "Y-Yes."

"Dr. Garvisha is waiting for you."

Jimmy and Scott both walked in together to the doctor's room.

When coming into the room, they approached Dr. Garvisha, a female Indian doctor with a PhD in Biology and a Medical Degree.

"Hello Jimmy, my name is Dr. Garvisha and I'll be checking on you today. Will you please undress yourself and put on a hospital gown?"

Jimmy was still nervous as he took the hospital gown from her.

Once his gown was on, Dr. Garvisha started to check up on him physically by weighing him, checking his blood pressure, and most importantly his temperature.

Jimmy's checkup was over and Dr. Garvisha brought back his results.

"Okay Jimmy we recently brought back your results and it seems…..off."

"O-Off?"

"Yes. You seem to be underweight, your blood pressure and temperature is low, and what I realize is that your glasses are stapled to your head."

Scott's eyebrow's rose. "Wait. His glasses are stapled to his head?!"

"Yes Mr. Smith. Whenever I took Jimmy's physical, I realized that his glasses were stapled to his head."

Dr. Garvisha went towards Jimmy's head and showed the staples under his hair.

"For some reason, your glasses are stapled to your head. Why is that Jimmy?"

Jimmy doesn't even know as he doesn't remember staples on his head "I d-don't know doctor."

"And you didn't even feel the pain?"

"N-No. I just r-rmember b-being g-glasses on my head."

"I see." Dr. Garvisha now in confusion.

"Also not to mention Jimmy, the braces that you're wearing are not necessary. I can tell that your teeth are fine as ever and for some reason, the glue that connects to your braces and teeth is not dental approved."

Scott had known that it was from John and his friends where Jimmy became a puppet for them after Ashley's death.

"Not to worry Jimmy, I also have a license in dentistry so I think I can manage to remove those braces. Just lay back on the dental chair as I get my tooths from the cabinet."

Dr. Garvisha brought tools which were used to remove his braces.

Dr. Garvisha brought a tool that seemed sharp to Jimmy's perspective. "Okay Jimmy. This won't hurt a bit."

Soon, Jimmy started to remember what happened to his dream and started to panic. As a result he screamed and kicked Dr. Garvisha to the ground. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" He ran out of the doctor's room with panic in his eyes.

"Jimmy, wait!" Scott ran after Jimmy as he was running in the dim light hallway.

Later, Scott caught up on Jimmy. "Jimmy! What has gone into you!"

"I-I remember. I REMEMBER!"

"Remember what?"

"What happened that day!"
