"So wait you're a griffin?" yang asked in awe. "more or less" alex admitted honestly. "that's so cool! i didn't even know faunus had mythical types." yang exclaimed in excitement making alex see the resemblance to ruby. "most of those with two types of animal features don't have any myth associated with them , i myself was simply lucky in my case." alex said calmly. yang and alex continued chatting with blake occasionally adding her own input as they headed towards the relics. it didn't take long for them to arrive at which point they identified the relics as chess pieces and took the golden knight since yang wanted it.

Shortly after that nora and ren arrived riding an ursa of all things followed by ruby falling from the sky. jaune also landed in a tree nearby where he stayed while ruby , alex and yang met up with hugs from ruby. nora took a golden rook piece for her and ren but ruby took the other golden knight as her other partner fell from the sky. it was at this time that jaune tried to catch the white haired girl but seemed to forget that gravity worked and ended up with her landing on his back instead.

The girl who was apparently named weiss looked like she wanted to yell at ruby for being reckless when pyrrha nikos burst through the trees with a alpha deathstalker right behind her. ruby tried to show how strong she was by attacking the grim but after failing to penetrate its armor tried to flee. at this point the ancient nevermore pinned her cloak to the ground as the deathstalker approached with its stinger ready poised to strike her. alex boosted himself with the wind while dashing towards the helpless ruby as fast as he could , which is to say almost as fast as ruby herself.

Weiss also acted immediately to help but stopped when she saw alex already near ruby with his weapon out. alex was angry , he remained in control of himself however and got between ruby and the deathstalkers tail. after that alex raised his sword before slashing down at the stinger smashing it into the ground before cleaving it in two and cratering the ground all in one fluid motion. dust rose as the rest of the people felt a light quake from the ground.

Alex knew ruby was fine slightly shaken but fine , however that prideful part of him raged at this grim that dared to try and kill his friend in front of him. this manifested in the surrounding air going haywire as a slight golden glow shone from his body as he channeled the solar energy from his battery semblance. pouring this into his weapon while changing it into its cannon form alex pointed the huge barrel at the screeching deathstalker. "DIE!" he screamed angrily as the cannon fired. to those watching it was like a flash bang went off blinding them as the ground shook intensely for a moments.

When their vision came back they all gaped at the forty meter long melted ditch three meters deep and six wide. all that remained of the deathstalker was the very sides of its legs while the rest had been vaporized. none of them could even finish reacting before alex shot into the air after the ancient nevermore. alex shifted his solar flare into its sword form midair before breaking the sound barrier to chase the nevermore that had realized it fucked up. regret didn't save the grim however as alex was simply far to fast and strong ripping it apart like a very angry blue jay , piece by piece.

It rained grim blood and flesh over a patch of the forest as those within sight of the spectacle shivered at the brutality of the kill. once done alex felt his rage fizzle out having been satisfied and he worried about the sort of impression he must have made. when he returned to the group none of them seemed bothered at all by his actions. in truth most of them were actually more interested in his weapon since it was unheard of for a personal weapon to do so much damage.

The most astonishing thing alex shared however was that his weapons fired with aura rather than gunpowder or dust. alex was swarmed by request by everyone to upgrade their weapons to aura firing while ruby instead asked to learn how to do it herself. alex didn't have any problems with this and agreed to their request. later that day the headmaster held an official ceremony to create the teams and ruby , weiss , alex , blake and yang were all put on a team called ruby with alex's letter being silent and ruby herself as the leader.
