Secrets Unveiled

With an infernal blaze that struck the environment of the plains, everyone near the walls was struck with a sense of pity for their enemy. Not even bones or ashes remain in the neverending sea of flames.

Two giant creatures roamed the land with a might capable of destroying multiple cities. Creatures that they do not know of. There were times when they thought they were dreaming of a cruel victory against their foes but when it hits them in the face, reality dawns upon the weak heart.

That would be the heart of ambivalence of Alicia as she watches the infernal creature set the plains ablaze with its flames of chaos.

'What is this? This is too much, this is a massacre…Is this how it feels to win? This is victorious for us…right? But why do I feel so bitter about this…'

She contemplated their win against the lizards, although the battle hadn't ended yet it was safe to say all the lizards and spiders either retreated, stomped, or ashes by about now. They were all practically running away with their tails behind their back.

She looked towards Arthas who stared at the scene with a blank expression. As the flames began to brighten in their wake, she saw his face contort with a bitter taste as he looked at the situation, then she realized that he didn't mean for this to happen.

'It's probably more than he anticipated as well, are you ready to carry everything that has conspired here Arthas? I wonder…'

She pity's him as she watches him evoking a sour face while looking at the scene. She was the only one that noticed his face, no one else but her.

*************

Arthas on the other hand experienced a much more devastating result of his actions. He didn't expect to devastate the army so much to the point that they would be charred to death.

'Fuck, I guess this is why the G suggestions were a thing in my world…Note to self don't use flames…until necessary'

He felt bad about bringing their enemies down with fire, at first it would have been fine but now that the outcome exceeded his expectations it left him with a guilty conscience.

'This should be flashy enough right? I guess after this the quest should be deemed as a success.'

"Alicia, now that things are a bit…breathable, explain what happened and why are there Lizards and spiders inside the walls"

"Huh, Oh right. It happened this morning. They all came out of the Houses inside the city and began to ravage from the inside. We tried to stop it but enemies were sighted from outside the walls. Gathering everything that we can muster we quickly made a defensive line, the mines and traps we set across the plains delayed them for at least 2 hours until it all ran out of their numbers."

"If you guys were on the outside defending everything, who was defending the city?"

"My uncle and a few captains defended the city and promised to help us after they finished inside. But it looks like we didn't need it…"

"Alicia, I gave the soldiers the order to help the city while others stay outside in case anything would happen that would be unexpected just like those monsters"

While they were talking about the situation of the war, Frederick came into their conversation.

"Oh yeah, Arthas this is Frederick. He's the one the capital sent to defend the city, he is exceptional at strategies and defense which allowed us to stay a bit longer"

"Nice to meet you. Arthas, I'm Frederick, assigned to protect the city, I thank you for saving us. We would like to give back the favor of what you need"

"Yeah, same to you…So I think you should go back inside the city…"

Arthas looked up and saw something he didn't expect to see.

The Keep which was full of architectural wonders with its design and structure was slowly falling apart. Windows and wood began to peel off and can even be seen from a distance.

From far away, large portions of the building began to be destroyed and with a sudden outburst, the building exploded, revealing another monster that he didn't know existed.

What came out was a large head of a snake, quickly wrapping itself around the whole building, the length at which it was undistinguished as the head was the only thing visible.

"I don't know if I can kill that without losses…" Arthas mumbled to himself as he watched the snake begin to grow in length as it towered upward towards the peak of the building.

The snake with grey scales looked at all of them from above, seemingly enjoying the view before destruction.

*********

A few minutes ago before the engagement between Arthas and the army….

Going along the dark corridors of the hall, steps echoed loudly as he walked through the hall that was illuminated by the morning sun. The atmosphere of the environment became eerie as the steps grew heavy and ominous.

Soon after the footsteps stopped in front of the wooden double doors in the hall. A hand that was wearing a glove was placed on the doorknob and gently opened the door. Inside, the floor was intricately made and covered with carpets that indicate their regality and the furniture with expensive taste added a sense of royalty and awe.

Inside there were multiple bookshelves with some being empty and books scattered on the floor. In the center, there was a large table with golden edges with a golden lantern on top of it. A man was sitting on the chair behind the table.

"Welcome, Captain Francis. Do you like the gift that I gave you? Hehe, you seem to be enjoying it to their fullest" A dark voice greeted Francis as he entered the wooden door.

"Suave Montejo. The bastard who killed the best mage, summoner, and tamer we have. The idiot who betrayed the kingdom, and I found something so recently while I was looking through your profile. Why did they let it pass something this stupid, Suave you are from Solstice why are you here? Tell me or I'll kill you"

"Either way, You'll kill me, so I'll keep to myself, Thank you, but no Thank you. Francis"

"Why did you do it?"

"Why? Hehe, first of all, It wouldn't have freaking happened if my daughter hasn't died at the filthy hands of that Pig bastard who we so-called the City Mayor. You know every allegation to it, and know his crimes well, then why do you act like an idiot who knows nothing."

"You think I didn't try? I spoke to everyone I know could be trusted and look what happened to them, dead mauled by the pigs of Saroth. Those pigs would eat anything!"

"And just like the pig of this mayor, we give a position to. Where was he when the lizards attacked, huh? Wasn't he the first to go out? Also, the fact that those three people that I killed worked for him, under him. You should be happy I cleansed those evil beings"

"And with that, you brought the wrath of Saroth to your doorstep, he has sent the Hounds of the Northcoast to find you and kill you."

"What does it matter when my daughter isn't here anymore? I heard Moltars daughter was stolen from him. I won't be the first and be the last to take action from that mayor's head"

"...What happened with Moltar?... Don't tell me he did it?"

"Oh yes, not only his daughter but the children of the majority of his village. That pig bastard took everything from him and I don't expect him to take it so silently"

"...I'll try to convince the mayor—"

"And then what you only do it because it's Moltar? What about me, us, and the others that have been affected by that hideous person? Leave us alone just to rot and shit in this land? Do you even hear yourself?"

"I'm sorry"

"That's the magic word everyone wants to rely on, yeah go for it. Before I go let me tell you a piece of advice. When Moltar comes to you, hope that you would have the capabilities to keep that monster on a leash."

"I am well aware of his strength and history…But why did you do this? Who are you?"

"That isn't the right time to say or speak. For now, you should worry about Alicia, the moonstone correct?"

Francis's expression contorted with shock as the topic suddenly shifted. The knowledge of the moonstone had always been a closely guarded secret, known only to Alicia's family and himself. The profound significance it held had the potential to disrupt the delicate balance of the entire world.

His eyes widened and breathed with a sense of anxiety and fear as he looked at Suave who was calm and with a huge smile on his face.

"How do you know about that?"
