Memories

"Mom we're home" Lesley shouted.

"How was your day guys"?

"It was awesome. Lesley made a new friend and so did I".

"Oh, You did? That's exciting. I'm glad you guys made friends".

"Mom I'll be upstairs"...

Lesley entered her room with her eyes wide opened. It was exceptionally well arranged and neat.

She thought 'This wasn't how I left my room this morning'.

Looking on top of the bed was the jacket she was looking for this morning. She let out a wide beam and ran to pick it up. The jacket was quite precious to her considering it was a birthday present given to her by her dad.

"Mom, did you help me clean my room" Lesley shouted.

"Yes I did. I also found the jacket you were looking for. Wasn't that the birthday present your dad gave you"? Sandra responded.

"Yes it is".

"No wonder you were taking your time to look for it".

"Yeah"....

Lesley slumped on the bed on her back facing the ceiling. Thinking of all the memories she had of her dad, a tear dropped from her eyes.

"I really shouldn't be crying now".

But she couldn't hold it back.

"I really miss you dad".

(8:00pm)..

Lesley was getting her school assignment done when her phone rang. She looked at the screen of her phone and noticed it wasn't one of her contacts but an unknown number. Skeptical about answering it at first, but later answered it.

"Hello"...

"Hello" Said the dialer's line.

"May I know who I'm speaking with".

"Oh sorry for not introducing myself earlier. This is Julia".

"Oh Julia, I didn't know you were the one".

"You wouldn't know. I didn't tell you I was the one. I actually promised to call you this evening. So what're you up to?.

"Nothing really. I was just rounding up the assignment we were given today".

"Uuuuuuuuuuuh, I guess we have a serious student now"...

*Laughs* "You don't have to tease me Julia. I'm just trying to make a first impression".

"Ok if you say so ma'am, *Laughs*. Hmmmm, i have a favor to ask from you".

"Ok, I'm all ears".

"So my mom sent me on errand. She told me to pick up some jewelries she ordered from a mall and I wouldn't like to go alone so I was wondering if you could accompany me after school".

"Sure no problem, I'll just need to let my mom know"...

"Are you for real? OMG, thank you so much".

Lesley could imagine her being happy now.

"So I would come over to your house later after school and then we could go".

"Ok, I'll be expecting you"..

"I'm really glad we became friends.

"Me too".

"Ok then, I'll leave you to continue your assignment. Bye".

"Bye".......

*The next morning*

While eating breakfast, Lesley remembered she needs to tell her mom where she was going to later in the day.

"Mom, I'll be accompanying Julia somewhere today after school. I just needed to tell you".

"Where to"?

"She said her mom told her to pick some jewelries from a mall and that I should accompany her".

"I have no problem with you going out but what of your brother? You know I'm going to be late from work today and it wouldn't be nice to leave your brother home alone".

"Don't worry Mom, I'm capable of taking care of myself. I'm literally 11. I can look after myself" Ethan said.

"Are you sure"?

"Of course I am. Besides I don't want to be the one to ruin Lesley plans".

"My kid brother is all grown now".

"Of course I am".

Lesley looked at her mom and they both laughed.

"Ok c'mon kiddo, we need to catch the bus or else we would be late".

"I could drive you guys to school".

"Don't worry Mom, you have to go to work. We don't want to make you late. We would just take the bus".

"Ok then, have a nice day kids".

"WE WILL" They replied in unison.

*During Lunch break*

"Did you tell your mom" Julia asked.

"I did. I can accompany you".

"Yay" she said raising both hands.

It was really nice seeing Julia happy.

"Julia if you don't mind, I've been meaning to ask you this question".

"Ok, and if you want to ask if I have a boyfriend, I don't"

*Laughs* "You're funny. That isn't what I wanted to ask. Don't you have any other close friends?. You talk to literally everyone in this school but I've never seen you with any other close friends apart from me and I'm pretty sure you've been in this school for a while now".

Julia was mute for a while looking sad. Lesley was already starting to feel guilty thinking she had offended her.

"I'm sorry if i offended you. I shouldn't have asked".

"Oh no, you didn't. I actually had two friends who I was quite close with. Look over to your left, you see those two girls over there, we were once Friends. One bears Amelia, and the other Yvonne".

Lesley looked over to her left and saw the two girls. They were on their phones pinging. One had a short Bob black hair, she also had a pale white skin and a thick red lipstick on. She had a fierce makeup on. The other one was light skinned black. She had a soft makeup and an afro hair in which she put in a bun and decorated with different stylish hairclips.

"So what actually happened between you guys"?

"I actually thought they considered me as their friend but I guess it was all up in my head. I was mostly treated as the third wheel. They were like the two best friend and I was always third wheeling. At first I didn't want to pay too much attention to it but it never stopped. When I could bear it no more, I told them I wouldn't like to be friends anymore if I kept on being treated this way. They gave me this nonchalant behavior and told me to do whatever I felt and we never spoke since then. They became popular overtime and I'm pretty sure they've forgotten about me".

"I'm so sorry that happened to you".

"It's okay, I don't really think much about it. It's all in the past besides i deserve better friends like you".

"You really do deserve more and I promise to be a good friend to you"...

They both hugged each other.

"By the way, I didn't see your brother. He didn't come to eat with us today".

"Oh Ethan said he doesn't need to eat with us again that he has friends to eat with now".

"Ouch that hurts, so he's just gonna dump us like that".

"Don't mind him".

*After school hours*

"Don't forget about our appointment" Julia said as she alighted the bus.

"I won't".....

*Ding dong*

"Ethan, answer the door" Lesley shouted.

"You always give the orders madam".

"Then should I answer the door when I'm upstairs and changing my clothes".

"Forget it, I'll answer the door myself".

Ethan opened the door and saw Julia.

"Hi Julia".

"Hi Ethan, I'm here to meet Lesley".

"I know. Come inside. Lesley is upstairs".

"Ok, I'll wait".

"Lesley, Julia is waiting for you" Ethan shouted.

"I'm coming, give me a minute" Lesley replied.

"So Ethan, you decided to dump me and Lesley today"..

"Uh..... I don't follow".

"You didn't come eat with us today after everything we've been through together".

"I'm sure it was my sister that put it that way that I had dumped you guys". He said smiling.

"No she wasn't, I was the one".

"I didn't dump you guys, I just made new friends that I could eat with and decided to let you two have your quality time".

"I know, but it still hurts" she said touching her chest.

"I'm just kidding, I'm glad you made friends though. It's never good to be alone".

"What are you guys talking about" said Lesley as she came downstairs.

"Just telling Ethan how it hurts when he dumped us today. But first of all, girl you're looking stunning. Are you trying to steal boys hearts away with your beauty"?

"Here comes the teasing again. What beauty are you talking about? If there's anyone that's gonna steal boys hearts away, it's you. Without even doing anything, you're always pretty".

"Awwwwn, thank you. But you're pretty yourself. I'm being honest".

"Thank you".

While they were busy complimenting themselves Ethan was staring at them all this while with a face that says "What are they even doing"....

"Ethan are you sure you're gonna be ok by yourself".

"Yes I am, just be on your way".

"If there's anything you need or if something happens, make sure to call either me or mom, Ok"?

"Yes".

"Don't worry I won't take long. I would be back before you know it".

"Oh c'mon, stop behaving as if I would die if I stay at home alone. No one is gonna kill me. Don't worry, I'll make sure to lock the windows and door".

"OK, make sure you do that, Bye".

"Bye Ethan".

"Bye guys, have lots of fun".......
