CHAPTER 31: THE RING THAT ISN’T HERS

“I made an appointment for you with an OB-Gyne,” Rodney said casually while we are having dinner.

I looked up from my food.

I was waiting for him to open the topic on my pregnancy but he wouldn’t touch the topic in the previous days, although I can feel him observing me every time he is around.

What he’s thinking is a puzzle to me. I’m dying to ask him what he thinks of my pregnancy, and the uncomfortable silence on the topic is driving me crazy.

“Oh!” Lola gasped. “She’s pregnant?” she asked excitedly.

I opened my mouth but I couldn’t speak.

Zandro also looked up from his food and silently looked at me and Rodney alternately. I looked at him helplessly.

I feel so insecure.

“Is anyone gonna answer me?” Lola asked again.

Rodney smiled at the old woman. “Yes Lola. Your Christmas wish, remember?”

I smiled bitterly to myself. I lost my appetite.

“I’ll go ahead and rest,” I said with my head bowed.
