As the sun sets and twilight begins to descend upon the city, the harbor comes alive with activity. The water in the harbor shimmers with a golden hue as the last rays of sunlight dance across its surface. Boats of all shapes and sizes can be seen coming and going, their sails billowing in the gentle evening breeze.
As soon as Jun arrives at his home, he sees Yuna sitting on the stairs in a daze while looking at Jun's figures. But her eyes are not focusing on Jun but on Eevee on Jun's head.
"Brother Jun, why are you so long? Aunt is already waiting for you," Yuna says.
"Why are you outside?" Jun asks back.
"I am waiting for you?" Yuna tilts her head and says.
'No, you are not,' Jun thoughts
Eevee senses Yuna dangerous moves and immediately runs away without a word. Yuna, who was already in a stance to pounce on Eevee, comes to a halt.
"Eevee, wait for me!" Yuna shouts and runs toward Eevee.
"Kyuuuu!" ∑(?Д??)
Hearing the commotion outside, Jun's mother knows it is Jun. Soon after she sees Jun and her sister-in-law enter, she beckons to Jun, "Jun, come here."
Jun follows along with his mother.
"Let me see your Beldum," his mother instructed
Jun then releases Beldum, and as always, it makes a deafening sound as a greeting first.
"That's good. It seems you're making progress here," Jun's mother says then let go of Beldum who was eager to catch up with Yuna and Eevee.
Jun nodded, and then something clicked in his mind. 'Rather than waiting for the assessment to be over to submit the paper, why not ask my mom? If I keep the information hidden in my brain for too long, I'm afraid I will forget it. It's better to utilize it quickly, and later I can engage in-depth about it officially'
Jun then he can't help but ask, "Mom, do you know someone who studied Pokemon?"
His mother is startled before pondering for a moment. "I don't know one," she says.
Jun is a little disappointed. He thought his mother had connections to Pokemon scholars related to genetic study.
"But your grandma does. Let me call her," Jun's mother continues while giggling at Jun's disappointed expression.
Jun was taken aback. 'Mom's connection is grandma?'
Soon, Jun's mother makes a video call to Jun's grandma and connects it to the television.
"Hello, Jun, Vanessa, and Mia. What's happening? It's very unusual for you to call grandma suddenly," Soon the call connected and Jun grandma asked while smiled.
"Hello, Grandma, how are you today?," Jun asked first
"I am fine, Jun. What's wrong? There is something you need?" Jun grandma inquired
"It's like this grandma. Do you know someone who studied Pokemon that can help me?" Jun asked
"Helping you with what Jun?" his grandpma coudlnt help but curious about this
"Um, it's like this." Jun then explains his research about Eevee's [Anticipation] ability that can be categorized as a hidden ability.
Some abilities are easy to distinguish and even some are relatively common, like [Intimidate] or [Sturdy]. But the abilities on some Pokemon, especially domestication Pokemon, are mostly blank because people often just leave the Pokemon to play with their kid for their companion.
For example, just like Eevee's Anticipation Ability, it is estimated that no one would think that this is a hidden ability, and would think that Eevee's character is naturally timid. If he could publish a paper and then conduct a full demonstration to prove that Eevee has the hidden ability [Anticipation], which can predict danger, then he could enter the scholarly circle officially without raising too much attention.
"Hmm," his grandma pondered. To be honest, she was a little bit skeptical about this. After all, Jun was barely 11 years old.
"How about this: would you like me to introduce you to my assistant? I can ask her to help you. She may be in Vermillion City now," she suggested.
Jun was startled. "Vermillion City? What a coincidence!"
"Let me call her first," his grandma said, then called someone.
Jun and his family waited for a moment and saw his grandma chatting with someone. Since she muted her phone, they couldn't hear what they were discussing. Soon they saw her nod, and then finally unmute her phone and say, "Jun, she will contact you later. I have already given her your phone number. By the way, Jun, have you already written a summary of your research?"
Jun nodded. "Of course, Grandma. I have actually already finished the academic paper. I only hesitated about where to submit it."
"Oh, is that so? Can you send it to me?" his grandma asked.
Jun nodded and quickly sent the document to his grandma's email. He was not afraid to expose Eevee's hidden ability, as he planned to explore Eevee's evolution next. It's better to submit the paper now since Eevee's evolution may change its hidden ability. The earlier he submitted, the better.
After about ten minutes, his grandma nodded with a surprised expression. To create an academic papers is not easy. There was basically more detours, process and many approach regarding it.
"I think it's better for you to become a scholar instead of a trainer. You are basically gifted in this. I will give this to Pinery quickly."
Jun was taken aback. "Grandma, the person you mentioned?"
"Yes, her name is Pinery. She is currently my assistant here, but she is on vacation in Vermillion City," his grandma nodded.
Jun thought for a moment, trying to recall the name. 'Pinery? Pinery the head of Eevee Evolution Lab?' he was taken aback.
'Isn't she the professor who was known for her research on Eevee in the Pokemon anime?' It struck him as odd that someone with such a prominent figure in the future would now be working as an assistant for his grandmother. It seemed he could put his knowledge about Eevee to good use with her help.
