Can't a father go out with his family again without something ruining it? I would have been happy if it had been just traffic causing the issue, but no, it had to be something much more outrageous – the apocalypse. Imagine what was supposed to be a family outing turning into a fight for survival against zombies in an instant. It doesn't change much, though. I'm still trying to be the best husband and father I can be, and the apocalypse ain't changing that!
After getting down from the van, David immediately made his way to his family car.
Knowing it was his mother who usually distributed the food, David headed to her usual spot in the car.
Upon arriving and catching his mother in a conversation with his father, both turning to look at him after spotting him, David greeted, "Good afternoon, ma," to his mother first, then turning to greet his father, "Good morning, sir," with a slight nod, just as he had done for his mother.
David had no actual idea of the time, but seeing the sun high in the sky, he figured it was probably afternoon. It was either this or he had woken up to a hot morning.
While these thoughts were going on in David's head, Anna and Malachi nodded in reciprocity to his greetings.
The first to address David was Anna.
"You're awake already?" she stated in a voice that was less of a question and continued, "Are you hungry?" she quickly inquired.
