Crush 5

Alti.

A language unknown to the human tongue.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought hard for a moment then left the library even before they did, before they caught a hint that there was someone else with them in the congested dusty space.

I took a long shower after. Then I tried sleeping but couldn't. I tossed and turned, disturbed by the silence that echoed throughout the place. One would say, I have stayed long enough to get it in my DNA but the hope that I had burning for a long time till it hit the floor made it harder to accept. Now, it all felt too new with no expectation.

I sighed and decided to take a walk around the garden, maybe surround myself with the sound of the whishing wind. It was then that I found Rix's friend Ez standing in the middle of the street with phone in his hand.

I thought twice before proceeding to call out his name. He turned around and looked at me confused. I squinted my eyes when I found the large fingerprints on his cheeks and the tiny hints of tears in his lashes. Either something happened with Rix which was very unlikely, or, something very different yet so similar happened which I understood, making me stiffen.

Once he agreed to enter the house, I made him hot chocolate and slid a box of ointment towards his direction. He looked at me for a moment then sighed and took the medicine, applying on his cheeks.

"Please, tell no one"

He whispered, his eyes on the cup and his fingers fidgeting with the handle.

"Sure"

I answered. But it wasn't enough to clear out the heaviness in the atmosphere. A ring in his phone saved us both from the stillness.

"Yes, Rix"

He gestured to go out and I nodded my head.

He went to the balcony and I watched as he confided himself to his friend. I watched him break through the glass. I sighed and moved my gaze away, and busied myself by cleaning both of our cups that were stained with chocolate and all the other utensils.

By the end, he came out looking refreshed. The aura of sadness, gone. I smiled at him and he rubbed the back of his head.

"Well, thank you for inviting me in and for the hot chocolate. It really helped. See you at college"

I nodded my head and watched him go.

Then the silence was back again. I sighed and retreated to bed. As I was about to switch the light off my phone rang.

"Samuel"

"A new mission. Those Gargoyles have attacked our base. You need to slip into their base and get whatever information as much as you can"

I exhaled and flopped back down on the bed.

"When?"

"Tomorrow night. 9:00 o'clock sharp. Bye"

The line disconnected and so did I from the world in a deep sleep.

The next morning went by in a blur. There was no zoology class so I couldn't meet him, leaving only lunch break. I don't know why but I was walking over to the table we sat previously, holding my share of lunch.

They weren't there. I swallowed my disappointment with the food and when I heard a familiar voice from behind me.

"Hi, Alti!"

I turned around and smiled widely.

"Hi"

They sat on the chair opposite to mine and we ended up catching ourselves in a swirl of conversation about anything and everything. It was refreshing. By the time we had to part ways, I had a big smile on my face.

"Bye!"

"Bye, Alti"

My smile disappeared along with their disappearing figures. My phone tinged and I knew I had a job to do. I read the message.

"Where the flowers bloom greatly,

There the waters flow, through each crack on the left,

At dawn we gather and try to get the flowers plucked from the source.

Two flowers, with three leaves and Four bees that buzzed around

A 3 inch dwarf, only knows the best"

Two three four three.

The code.

I slipped my phone inside my pocket and went to the mansion for a change of clothes. Bullets, guns, knives, I got into my suit and wore the balaclava that was hanging on the shelf.

Soon a car drove by and I went inside. There were three men, one with a laptop, the other two with guns and tattoos ready to blow anyone in their way.

Max, the driver, expertly drove through the tree that covered the camera view from the top, and I quickly got out from a slowing car, which sped up the moment I left the car and went away as soon as I got myself into a hiding space.

I peeked through the window and found numerous guards guarding the place. It was going to be a tough job. I closed my eyes and focused on the pattern of their footsteps and the stillness in one place. I quickly changed positions accordingly and used my twelve eyes to see the whole structure of the building. Something, I've found during the recent missions which I could do.

3rd floor, office 309.

I climbed up the window and slipped into the cupboard quickly as many guards came chatting animatedly. I held my breath and waited for them to go. Once they left, I dashed towards the stairs up to the 2nd floor, then to the third floor, not minding the cameras, knowing Haival had it all in control.

Then when I reached the office, I again used my twelve eyes to sense the office inside, all the traps and sirens that would go buzzing with one wrong move. I pressed the code in and stepped inside, dodging the lasers then going to the computer.

"X18 check. I'm in the office"

"Shit! Informer. We got an issue here. An attack. Do what you got to do and quickly get out of there"

My heart dropped when I heard the sound of groanings of pain coming from the other side. I quickly inserted the pen drive and exported all the files in the drive.

Just as I was about to finish, more of them came shooting I hid behind the wall, and started shooting right at them. This time I used my ninth eye to see the number of people.

Seven.

I dodged the bullet and with a moment of slowness, I shot the man down, with the rest.

I retrieved the pen drive and went down to the car where Gajiel and Haival were injured, with multiple bodies, cut open for the flies and street dogs for food.

"Let's go. I got it"

They nodded their heads and we made a beeline towards the other direction from where we never came.
