The Escape

Roniac woke up early simply because his stomach couldn't handle it anymore he could feel the softness of whatever he was lying on, "what this nice prison Roniac thought". The pain from his stomach interrupted his admiration for his bed and he tried to control it but he couldn't. All this while his eyes where still closed, he was afraid he might see his father's body again, the thought of this increased his pains and curled into a ball with his hands on his stomach. The sound of the singing birds was beautiful, they sang in rhythm like an organized choir, their singing made Roniac happy and reduced his pains but didn't stop nor quenched it, " am I going to die like this" Roniac asked himself.

He had already lost hope of him surviving as he gave up waiting for his stomach to eat him, according to what he believed, while thinking of how to join his family a nice aroma filled his nose and his curiosity kicked in.

"Even if I am to die, it won't happen with my eyes closed," Roniac told himself.

Slowly he opened his eyes and what he saw was not what he had expected, he was in a small hut with a huge bookshelf containing spells and scrolls, a table in the middle and many other things he had never seen or heard of. The scent of the delicious aroma drew stronger and so did Roniac control and resistance as he couldn't hold back any much longer. He had decided to take the risk, after all he would die anyway if he didn't eat anything anytime soon so living without regrets was what rang through Roniac's mind.

He was now sure it wasn't a prison and he wasn't in the hands of the elves either, he studied the room searching for the way outside where he could find the source of the smell and a way out of here as well, he was indeed killing two birds with one stone.

According to what he saw, there were two exit ways, the window where the cage bird is and the six fit door a few meters away. The window is indeed closer but with a price, any mistake could get the bird's attention which would eventually alarm whoever brought him here and that's not what Roniac wanted.

Although he wasn't in a prison, he's still not sure why and how he got here or the reason why such a person would keep him. Many thoughts ran through his head and he came to the resolve of staying hidden. He had heard many stories from his elders of gulls which treat their food with care before eventually eating them and this was a situation similar to such stories.

He tiptoed to the door from the back behind the gigantic book shelf, he saw terrifying pictures and samples collected by Vagan and this spooked him out and the belief of his capturer being a gull increased.

"Ahh" Roniac screamed at the top of his lungs when he saw a skeleton of a goblin the same size as him, his was scared and angry too he looked closer to see whether he would recognise who it was, but he couldn't recognise anything from the skeleton that is compatible with his friends with his friends at the village.

"Snap out of it" Roniac told himself as he ran ahead.

After a while Roniac finally made it to the door, however there was another challenge to it. The door knob was not in Roniacs reach and this slowed him down. Looking for a solution he spotted a small table with books on it, seeing that Roniac came up with an idea. With his strength he pushed the table towards the door and stacked the books until it was high enough for him to open the door.

Meanwhile, the bird in the cage who Roniac believed was there to watch him was busy singing with the other birds although he sang out of tune and this brought enough time for Roniac to reach the door. The bird is Vagans pet and is unique when compared with other birds. One of his unique abilities was his ability to talk, his name is Karick.

Karick was enjoying singing with the other birds that he forgot about Roniac.

"I wish you guys will come every morning, cause this is amazing" Karick said with excitement as he continued singing.The last thing Karick ever wanted happened as he heard the sound of the bell hung on the door. Quickly Karick signaled his friends to go and he took a serious composure expecting someone to walk in. After some minutes nothing happened and Karick became confused. Be flew to the door, slowly closed it and peeped through an opening. Be scanned the area and saw Vagan still cooking and heaved a sigh of relief that he wasn't caught but still doesn't know what or who opened the door. He flew back to his cage and something came to his mind.

"The goblin?" Karick said as he flew over Roniacs bed. Looking at it, it seems something is there but Karick wasn't fooled by that and proceeded to open the sheet covering whatever is under it.

"Like I suspected," Karick said with anger in his voice.

Finally outside, Roniac started planning the other step to take such as finding a place to stay, but something captivating interrupted his thinking, it was the aroma from before and it was stronger and Roniac could tell that the source was close. Apart from shelter, Roniac had a bigger problem that needed urgent attention and that was his stomach.

"I can't hold it any longer, I need to eat, '' Roniac cried in pain.

While thinking of what to do about his stomach, the bright sun over his head was blocked by something, Roniac noticed this and looked up and what he saw sent shivers down his spine.

Vagan was done with the cooking although it took him time, he was about to call for Karick when he saw a goblin run past him chased by a huge eagle. He didn't go after them nor did he show any sign of panic.

Roniac was running with all his strength, he believed that what was chasing him was a dragon and he had heard many stories of what dragons had done to goblin strong warriors talk less about him. He continued running hoping to take cover under the trees up ahead. Roniac managed to outrun the eagle avoiding all its attack until he reached his destination but something unexpected happened as Roniac jumped hoping to land on the soft grass but felt the opposite feeling as he crashed into an invisible wall. He fell down, tired and still conscious. Roniac touched whatever hitted him and could feel a solid but invisible wall. Still dealing with that, another problem flew in as the eagle came down, thus terrified Roniac as he trimed to run but was out of stamina and gave up waiting for whatever was to happen.

The eagle with its huge beak was about to devour Roniac when a voice was heard in his head.

"That's enough Karick" Vagan said with telepathy. "Bring him back," Vagan commanded.

Karick reluctantly did what he was told to do, with his claws he carried Roniac and up he flew at a very high speed forcing Roniac to open his eyes making him to face his nightmare *height*.
