10: New spell (James)

Thursday, November 25th, 7 Years Before The Sacrifice

James was studying his magic book and Asher was sharpening his sword.

"This one" James says

"What is it?" Asher says

"Mana shield," James says

"The user of the spell is protected by an invisible shield made of mana, each time the shield is hit the caster loses mana depending on how strong it was," James says

"Seems pretty useful," Asher says

"Yeah it'll definitely help when I'm being attacked," James says

"Especially seeing how it's invisible," James says

"You wanna try it," Asher says

"Yeah of course," James says

"Mana shield," James says

"Hit me as hard as you can Asher!" James says

"You got it!" Asher says

Asher grabs his great sword and slashes James.

"Oh yeah my mana definitely felt to that" James says

"This spell will definitely come in clutch," James says

"Come in clutch?" Asher says

"That's an odd phrase, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that," Asher says

(What did I just say?) James thinks

"Nevermind that, you mentioned yesterday we were going to do something," James says

"Ah right," Asher says

"We're going hunting," Asher says

"And what are we hunting?" James says

"Oh nothing too serious just a bear," Asher says

"A bear!?" James says

"Yep I've been hired to kill it," Asher says

"Then why the hell am I going with you!?" James says

"Because you need experience," Asher says

"That's a very lousy excuse," James says

"Let's stop wasting time and get going," Asher says

Sometime later

"I can't believe this" James says

"Shut up, You'll alert the bear" Asher whispers

The two of them walk quietly in the forest trying to pick up the trail the bear has left.

"That's it" Asher whispers

"That thing has to be at least a thousand pounds" James whispers

Asher charges at the bear without any hesitation.
