Starred Up

Deen, a seven year old boy, arrives in Korea with his mother Mia. With a strong determination to raise her son properly, Mia ensures Deen lacks no love in his life. In her spare time, Mia is a huge fangirl of the Korean boy group, TNT. But in an unexpected twist of fate, the mother-son duo end up being the neighbors of D3, another legendary boy group, which happens to be TNT's biggest rival. D3 consists of the short tempered Taewon, gentle Joon Jae and the goofy Jan. On top of that, Mia is hired as the personal designer for TNT, which consists of the charismatic leader Soo-Yon and the playboy maknae Cheng. Despite the rocky start, Mia and her son grow closer to all the members of both the groups. With time, the members realize they have fallen in love with the same woman, disrupting each group's dynamics. Furthermore, the origins of the hostility between the two groups resurface, making everyone involved question the decision they made a decade ago. As secrets unfold, the members vie for Mia's affections, Deen observes that she has eyes only for one of them. But which one of them will she choose? Soo Yon-You Grew Up

I returned to the shoot. Everyone was waiting for me.

'Hyung, is she okay?' Cheng asked, amused. I shot a glare at him. I'll deal with him later.

'Is she badly hurt?' Mia asked, concerned.

'That ahjumma deserved it,' Deen proclaimed. 'Stop being so concerned Mee.'

'Deen stay quiet!' Mia reprimanded. 'Don't be rude.'

'Ahjumma? She is your noona,' Mina noona said.

'No, you are my noona,' Deen replied. 'That woman is too foul to be my noona!'

Mina noona laughed.

'I like this kid,' she said, stroking his cheeks. 'And Mia, the kid is right. Don't be sorry for her. She gave us hell for weeks. We are glad to get rid of her.'

'She will be fine,' I told them. 'Where's Director Im?'

'He is there,' Cheng pointed out. Director Im was standing a few feet away, shouting at his shooting staff for their carelessness.

'Director Im.' I approached him.

'Soo-Yon ah, what do we do?' he lamented. 'The model is gone and we have to finish this by today.'

'Let's have a background dancer do the shot, wearing a mask,' I suggested. 'They know the step already. It's just two shots.'

'But the CEO will be furious.'

He was right. CEO will not be too lenient on this matter. After all, his star model was kicked out of the shoot.

'I can manage him,' I assured him. 'Besides, completing this is more important.'

Director Im hesitated.

'None of this would have happened if that girl had just brought the bloody shoes,' he muttered.

'It was Rin's fault,' I said sharply. 'She is no one to order my staff around. Would you have brought her shoes if she had asked you to? So please. No need to say anything to the CEO. Just state that she had an accident and we had to replace her in the remaining shots with an extra.'

Director Im shut his mouth. He thought about it for a while and made up his mind.

'Assistant Jong!' he bellowed. Assistant Jong came rushing.

'Yes Director Im,' he said.

'Tell one of the backup dancers to step in as replacement,' Director Im snapped. 'Make her wear a mask. Try to find someone who resembles Rin. If not, then tell the makeup team to do their magic.'

Thankfully, one of the backup dancers, Jihyo, was as tall as Rin. She was made to wear a mask and short wig to resemble Rin. It was hard to tell the difference from afar. The rest of the shoot went without a glitch.

'And cut!' Director Im said after two hours. 'Pack up!'

We were relieved. Five weeks of hell with Rin came to an end. I was extremely tired and Cheng was drained. It took us one more hour to get rid of the makeup and change into fresh clothes.

'Finally, the shoot ended,' I said, falling back onto a chair. Cheng and I were sitting by the car, waiting for the staff to pack their things.

'Yes,' Cheng said, taking the seat next to me. 'I can't wait to go home and sleep.'

'

With whom?' I asked jokingly.

'Alone,' he stressed. 'Hyung, I might be full of vibrant energy but even I need my sleep.'

'Why did you do it?' I asked quietly.

'Do what?'

'You know what I mean.'

Cheng was silent for a moment.

'I just felt like it,' he confessed. 'At that moment, I didn't see what was right or wrong. Just saw a person close to me being insulted. And I couldn't stand it.'

'Strange,' I commented.

'What's strange?'

'It's strange to see you growing up,' I said. 'Honestly, I'm kinda jealous now.'

Cheng stared at me for a while.

'Hyung, I-'
