Ch 46 - Monkeys (1)

There was a bathtub and a toilet which surprised me greatly and I viewed those two things as the greeting part of the whole room.

Wanting to take full advantage of the hotel I took off my clothes and the cloak before hopping into the tub and twisting the first handle I saw.

Unsurprisingly freezing cold water came out which didn't even make me shudder due to how used to it I was. Thus, I turned that handle back off and tried the second one only for more cold water to come out.

Depressed with this reality I filled the tub with the freezing water before using my fire magic to heat up the water to the best of my ability for a comfortable period.

After a while I got out, there was no need for me to wash since I still had the force field up which meant I wouldn't get dirty. But that also meant I couldn't feel the water on my skin but I could feel the tendency of the heat that radiated off the water and that was enough for me. I wouldn't take down the force field and release all the built of dark magic just to take a bath.

Throwing my clothes back on and wrapping the cloak around myself I left my room and exited the hotel to continue with the rest of my day.

The guards outside along with the guards inside all gave me a slight nod which improved my mood.

Outside the building, I stood in the busy street as the town was now fully active as it was midday.

'Julia should be dealing with all the political matters and the town should get reformed which means that all that is left is for me to prepare,' I told myself as I moved in a direction with a motive.

It didn't take all that much time since I was sprinting at full speed towards the exit of the town gate.

Once I arrived the gate was very lively as many people were entering and leaving, yet I ignored all that along with the guards as I used the cloak to sneakily leave and enter the forest.

There as I was deep in the forest I ran at full speed and raised my guard and heightened my senses to scan for any sort of movement.

I ignored all the simple animals like squirrels and rabbits, my main goal was to find a certain tribe of beasts that I had heard about in the town.

A day or so ago I heard a rumor about a group of merchants being attacked in the forest by a troop of rabid monster monkeys.

My goal today was to wipe out the barrel and absorb all of their power to enhance myself for incoming threats.

It took a few hours to search and I killed any other monster I found along the way but towards the end of the day, I finally found them.

Swinging from tree to tree I could sense multiple beings even though I couldn't see them.

'This should be one of the hardest fights I'm going to be in. I don't know the monster ranking powers but these guys will be tough for me,' I concluded in my mind as I readied myself for battle.

'One, two, three, seven, twelve, eighteen monsters,' I counted each of them to be at the same level.

'The worst part of all is that I can't release all the dark magic I've been building up,' I told myself as I knew I had to save it for later. 'I'll be without my trump card but even then I believe I can win.'

As I was preparing myself, one monkey decided to wander away from the group in search of a ripe banana that was growing on a nearby tree.

Taking advantage of the scenario I silently formed a wind blade in the palm of my hand.

The monkey was none the wiser and was focused on getting the delicious meal that was quite literally dangling in front of it.

Once the creature got in my range I jumped out from behind the trunk of a tree to launch my attack.

The monkey was surprised and it had its guard down as it wasn't prepared to be sneak attacked.

Dashing from one branch to the second I was close enough that I had confidence the blade would kill the beast and I sent the spell toward the monkey.

Although the monkey was surprised by the attack, because I wanted to go for the guaranteed kill, it had a short amount of time to defend itself and the monkey didn't waste that time.

It raised both of its arms to cover its face in hope of being able to survive with minor injuries.

However, unfortunately for the monkey, I was expecting that to happen because of the extremely high intelligence of the beast.

Monkeys were already smart as normal animals but as evolved monsters, they were much smarter than their counterparts.

Thus, predicting that the monkey would try to defend itself I figured it would protect its head so it wouldn't be an instant kill so I went for the waist.

The wind blade connected and slashed through the creature perfectly as my plan was executed precisely.

The lower half of the monster slid off from the top and fell down from the tree to the jungle floor.

The top part of the monkey was spraying blood as more than half its internal organs were cut away.

The monkey with its last breath stared at the banana that was ready to be picked before succumbing to its wounds.

'One down seventeen to go,' I said to myself as my infamous demonic smile appeared.
