Chapter 17

In the last two weeks, James has advocated continuing tracking hydras movement in hopes to get Captain America back before the invasion but they could not simply follow the movements of a truck and therefore had no idea where they had moved him

In the process they had discovered many Hydra bases filled with soldiers that would need many months of preparation before they could attack with simply shield agents and the request for the united nations to intervene was met with a lot of bureaucracy and red tape leaving them unable to have aid

But soon the invasion would come and the earth's mightiest heroes were brought together for the first time albeit without Captain America

The joint dark energy facility

As the evacuation was ongoing with floods of scientists rushing out along with agents escorting them a helicopter landed on the helipad

But unlike in the original film, it wasn't Fury who got out but James in full armour along with Natasha and hank pym wearing his ant man suit

Followed by two iron men landing one being tony stark and the other being James Rhodes wearing the iron patriot armour

They were met by Hawkeye at the entrance

"Good to see you guys have finally arrived," Hawkeye said admiring the spectacular entrance of the two iron suits and then looked around at a large number of shield agents on standby with some kind of makeshift energy weapons using the tesseract as an energy source to power them

"The tesseract is displaying strange signs and if what James said is right then we have a guest arriving soon we should be prepared to welcome him."

"Then let's act quickly and set up our welcome"

Hawkeye lead them inside there was a lot of strange-looking machinery hooked up to a cube with lots of tools laying around

"This is why I never liked Shield," said hank pym while looking around Fury's handiwork of a dangerous science experiment that should have never happened in the first place

James saw the nest Hawkeye uses and decided to use it for himself where he grappled up to and rested his amban rifle up on the steal bannister running across the walkway

Natasha found a dark corner to stand in while the armed shield agents surround the cube along with Hank Pym

hawkeye joined James up in his nest and readied his bow not showing any signs of being nervous

And the iron men floated above them watching for any signs of activity to let loose on with their arsenal of weaponry

In the ears of all the agents and avengers, a voice came through the comms "It's showing large spikes of energy again" said Professor Erik Selvig who had been studying the cube since it appeared in Shield's hands

"It's throwing off low levels of gamma radiation nothing harmful yet," said a very familiar sounding voice of bruce banner the Hulk himself, with a little visit from Natasha she brought him close to the facility but not directly into it and was reading the energy signals remotely

"The door is about to open soon and whatever is coming out be sure to give it a warm welcome," said James over the comms

The cube then let out another pulse of energy that shook the building and made large amounts of dust float down onto the agents but none let this distract their minds which were fully focused on the cube

"Hank be ready to shrink as soon as you see the portal open then make sure it's in for a surprise."

The pulses then became more frequent causing echos of banging to be heard throughout the facility as the buildings became more unstable

'I'm not sure if we can stop him currently but we dang sure will try our best.' James thought tightening his grip on his rifle and staring down the scope waiting for Loki to walk out to hopefully disintegrate him immediately

As the energy began to circle the cube and it releases a light blue beam of energy opening a black hole with the blue energy surrounding the hole then a wave of energy was pushed out from the portal flashing the eyes of everyone in the room and it moved around like fire in a wood house reaching every corner of the room and going up to the roof until it dissipates when everyone regains their vision they focus it on the lone man crouched down with the same kind of energy smoking of his body and sceptre

The shield agents aimed their guns at the man as he looked up with a mad grin on his face until he focused and saw the army waiting for him

Fury's voice then came over the speakers installed in the room "Sir please put down the spear"

Loki took a long look at his sceptre then the number of soldiers in front of him and spoke with a tone displaying the humour he found in the situation while using the power of his magic to amplify his voice "I am Loki of Asgard and I am burdened by glorious purpose" then a blast of energy came from an impatient soldier which Loki quickly blocked with his sceptres energy "do you think that you mere mortals can harm me a god, you are like ants on the bottom of my boot do you think the boot cares about the ants he steps on" he then releases a pulse of blue energy from his sceptre in front of him sending a large number of agents flying through the air "I came with glad tidings to make this world free but if so need I can use my boot to step"

The agents then responded in kind releasing energy pulses from their guns but the difference in power was evident as they did nothing to Loki but annoy him as he simply waved the energy away with his sceptre in hand

But what came next shook Loki to his core as a red beam came at him, he thought nothing of it but another weapon used to annoy him the god among men untouchable by mere mortals

But when he tried to defend himself with his sceptres energy it caused him to fly back into the wall

Although the beam of red energy could not break the defence produced by the sceptre it had enough energy to send Loki recoiling through the air albeit unhurt but surprised by what could be achieved by a mortal

As Loki clawed his way up from the rumble he soon identified where the blast came from as yet another one was released with a shriek sounding throughout the already noisy environment as the agents never stopped firing

Loki questioned the identity of the strange man wearing some kind of medieval armour and a strange throughout passed through his mind as he couldn't help but see a striking resemblance with the destroyer armour and began to also question what kind of metal it was but he still highly doubted it since no mortal would be able to possess the qualities required to reforge it

As the blast came closer Loki smiled letting the beam hit him but instead of Loki being sent flying back again he simply disappeared from sight

"Hold fire" a voice rang out seeing the disappearance of the alien invader

Then Erik spoke over the comms "The brother of Thor is known for using tricks and illusions what you see might not be actually what is there."

Everyone began looking around but couldn't see any signs of Loki
