Chapter Twenty-Two

I let the water run through my hair, ridding it of sweat.

Running a hand through my blue locks, I frowned. I would need to cut this soon. Sighing, I turned off the shower and grabbed the towel to dry off.

I looked in the mirror, staring at the many small scars that marred my body before shrugging. Chicks dig scars, or at least, that's what I was told.

Wrapping the towel on my waist, I grabbed the basket where my armor was haphazardly thrown and opened the door to the refresher.

To get to my room, I just had to open the door and walk out... Yes, the refresher was connected to my room. It was awesome.

The previous owner, Hera, moved in with Kanan so I could have some privacy, and I would need all the privacy I could get. The things I make could very well explode.

Putting my armor in the corner to clean later, I walked over to the clothes I prepared and started putting on my underwear, then socks, then pants. like a normal human being.

Putting on a black Tank top, I reached for my boots and tugged them on tying my laces, and finally, I was done.

Tilting my head to the side and getting a satisfying pop in response, I started walking toward the door, when I felt somebody walking towards my room.

Opening the door, I came face to face with Kanan who blinked at me and then gave me a once-over.

"So... that's how you look under the helmet. Nice to finally meet you."

He extended a hand and I looked at him for a moment, hoping to convey that he was being stupid, but I grabbed his hand and shook it anyway.

"Colt, Colt Bridger."

He just nodded and motioned me to follow him. Shrugging my shoulders, I did, shoving my hands inside my pockets.

"I still can't believe you had that many nutrient bars, have you been surviving on them for this long?"

I hummed in agreement. They might taste like shit, but they gave you all that you needed for a day, never living you too hungry or too full. add some water if you wanted to be fancy or eat soup and you were set.

We entered the main room of the ship and immediately the others looked towards the door. I rose an eyebrow at the three organics and one droid. They are acting like they have never seen a person before.

Hera was giving me a once over, just like Kanan, but unlike him, her eyes stopped at the scar on my shoulder and frowned.

Sabine was looking me over with an unhealthy amount of interest and Zeb just seemed surprised.

"You're just a kid!"

... Seriously?

"I thought you knew that? Did you think that I was a short adult or something?"

I tilted my head to the side, raising an eyebrow at the Lasat who just thinned his lips and coughed awkwardly.

Rolling my eyes, I stepped forward, keenly aware of Kanan's stare that bore into my back.

"Colt Bridger. it's... Uh, Pleasure to meet you?"

God, my social skills sucked, I actually had to think what to say after giving my name. Damn, that's embarrassing.

Thankfully, they ignored the slight pause in my introduction and proceeded to name themselves.

Zeb's full name turned out to be Garazeb Orallios.

Hera turned out to be a Syndulla and Sabine was a Wren... damn, I had no idea if those names were of any importance.

And now that the introductions were over, we just stood there awkwardly in silence...

"So... uh, nice ship?"

I said, pursing my lips uncomfortably, which got a smile from Hera.

"Thanks. Would you like a tour?"

Anything to get out of this situation.

"That would be grand."

___

"What are you doing?"

I looked back from the belt I was modifying, meeting Sabine's eyes over my shoulder. It's been a few days, and to say that the awkwardness grew would be an understatement.

But hey! I was trying, okay?

"Remember the Robot Vizago got me a few days ago?"

I asked, getting a curious nod in response. I Pointed at the inside of the belt that had wiring running through it.

"I'm modifying this with one of its main functions."

She looked at the white utility belt for a moment, scanning it with her eyes before a look of realization came over her face and she straightened up.

"You're making a mobile energy dome?"

She walked around me and crouched near the piece of, what might or might not be, technology that would revolutionize combat.

"This is genius! How come none ever thought of this before?"

She muttered under her breath while running a hand across the places that showed the mechanism that I hadn't covered yet. Suddenly she looked up at me with a questioning gaze.

"But the power output would deplete the batteries too quickly, you might be able to use it for a little while, unless you're substituting it with something else?"

Oh... OH! This would be fun.

Reaching for a container to my right, I opened it, revealing a red Kyber crystal that was inside. She glanced at it before her eyes became as wide as plates, realizing what I would be using it for.

"Is that the one you got from the inquisitor when you joined?"

I just nodded.

Picking up the crystal, I grabbed the belt and pressed a button that unlocked the front of it, revealing a neat compartment with two metal cylinders that would hold the rock in place.

Placing it in its place, I closed it and grabbed the belt, putting it around my waist. The Kyber crystal would power the generators and the generators would protect me from blaster bolts.

Pressing the middle of the belt, a clear energy shield formed around me... and Sabine... damn, too much output. But it would work, I could adjust it accordingly.
