24 Fear

Bane stared at the man who had once been his master…his true master, and sighed.

"I suppose this will be a good test for her."

Malekith grinned in a horrible, inhuman way, "Yes."

Zannah knew the moment she had entered the temple that the plan had failed. The Atraxium had close to 500 members and not one of them was present, but she needed that information, her master couldn't die…not by anything other than her own blade. She was worried now in a way she hadn't been since that final day on Onderon nearly 18 years ago, she worried for her life. Her master had feared coming here, though not for his life, for hers. He refused to speak his true name in some show of respect, but The Grand Curator had been the talking point of many conversations throughout her training, a man with such a vast wealth of knowledge that he could have conquered the galaxy. Zannah knew he was weak, if he couldn't bring himself to use that power, but her thoughts were irrelevant.

The Atraxium was a beautiful thing, a gargantuan, pristine white, cone shaped structure with a notch taken from its peak. She wouldn't have minded training here, in a different life. She walked through the main atrium, falling deeper into her cloak of the dark side, her vanity alone keeping her confident.

Suddenly, she felt a gust behind her.

"Welcome, Rain.", Zannah hissed and turned around, yet no one was there. Within her mind itself the voice continued.

"You won't see me until I let you, my sweet, why don't we talk for a minute?"

"Get out of my mind.", Zannah spoke, anger flooding her voice.

"Do you fear me?", the voice taunted.

"Never."

"Are you afraid of death~?"

"Death is a state of mind.", Zannah said as she called forth her rage.

"We must never show fear, Rain."

"I'm not Rain."

"Oh little girl. ~Rain, Rain, go away, come back another day~."

"Rain is dead." Zannah was truly a maelstrom now, her fury at heights not seen by any other than her master.

"Fear. We must not fear, for fear is the little death-"

Instinctively, Rain responded, "-that brings total obliteration…No…no I'm not Rain, get out of my head."

Hundreds of voices filled her mind then, hounding her, flooding her senses.

"~Rain, We must not Fear. Fear is the mind-"

"Get Out."

"-killer, the little death-"

"Get OUT."

"That brings total obliteration-"

Zannah screamed. Something deep within her mind broke, a psychosis…as René's spell struck her mind. For a thousand years, the girl that had once been Rain felt nothing but Fear. Fear of the unknown, Fear of Malekith, Fear of the force, Fear of herself, Fear of *Oblivion*.

10 lifetimes flashed before her eyes, the life of Malgus the false one, Revan the Betrayer, Satele Chan the Savior, and more that began to meld into a cruel abomination that posed a threat to the very core of her psyche.

Finally, everything went dark, and Rain was alone in her own mind. Rain, chains around her neck and limbs, stared out into oblivion. Dark figured huddled around her and laughed, cruel, heart wrenching laughter at her slavery within her own mind.

"Rain…Weakness…downpour…obilterata….yearning….loveless."

Rain cried then, locked in her own void. Waiting for it to end. It didn't.

Alone in the void, the scared little girl began to weep.

Sorry, short chapter.

So…I'll update this when I want to update this. I don't think I'll fall into a regular schedule, there's just so much more I want to write, but I won't go away for more than a week again.
